FPD Sticky Fingers in Miami: The Case of the Stolen iPad

All sorts of interesting stories have been coming in since we exposed the affirmation of beating and theft allegations against a Fullerton police officer last week. Here’s the first one:

Last month an off-duty Fullerton police officer was allegedly captured on video at a Florida airport making off with an Apple iPad belonging to another passenger while going through a security checkpoint. The officer was supposedly identified on security footage, hunted down just before boarding, arrested and charged with 3rd degree Grand Theft.

In Florida, Grand Theft is a felony punishable by a maximum of 5 years in prison.

We’ll sit tight on the officer’s name until we can finish gathering up the details. For now, consider this a warning to iPad owners in Fullerton: hold on to your goods when the Law is nearby.

For all the lavish compensation bestowed upon Fullerton’s Finest, you’d think we’d be able to avoid hiring of such low caliber cops. But the more we look, the more this seems to be par for the course for the FPOA.

  1. If he stole it, fire him. Not much more to say on that.

As for the caliber question, I wish we a had higher caliber planning commissioners, but obviously it takes little education or other skills to fill that job either.

    1. “I wish we a had higher caliber planning commissioners”

Thanks to Whitaker the caliber shot up a hell of a lot.

      1. JD, why did you write the bad cop is a “he” as apposed to a “she”? Or maybe you just know something the rest of us don’t know.

  2. How many krooked kops are there in Fullerton? One is too many, but this list is getting longer.

    1. Really? If we start firing every GED cop who breaks the law we won’t have any po-po force anymore.

    2. Wow, looks like the Troll is willing to chum his own kind.

But why is swiping a computer worse than breaking some poor guy’s finger and stealing his wallet?

  3. No worse than a government official trying to access records he’s not entitled to. But what can you expect from a GED wanna-be computer hacker.

  4. By the way, who’s keeping tabs on the evidence locker? I bet shit disappears all the time. Klepto-cops on the prowl.

  5. Why wait for the details? Just ask Whitaker to post the details or just have him tell cummissioner rat teeth the details and we will all know.

  6. “hold on to your goods when the Law is nearby”……. Hmmmm

For that matter, I recommend to hold on your penis and vagina too because the COPs are the major sex offenders.

  7. Maybe if the FPOA spends all their money defending “allegedly” crooked cops, they won’t be in the politicking business. That will leave the fire department boys and girl to carry the load. I don’t know if they can squeeze in the time though with all their overtime…

  8. Typical anti-police nonsense. Police are hard working and honorable people, PROTECTING YOUR PROPERTY – NOT STEALING IT!

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Let’s see who you call next time somebody breaks into your house in the middle of the night!

    1. BTB, In agree with you. 20% are very good, I know a few of those myself, 60% are doing the job just like they have been asked to do. But, 20% are bad, and those are the ones I’m concerned with.

  9. Yeah you malcontents, the boys in blue have our backs and we should have theirs!

Hey, where’s my iPad? It was here just a second ago…

  10. We get it: you hate the police. But they will be there when somebody breaks into your house in the middle of the night. AFTER YOU CALL THEM FOR HELP!

      1. It’s the police who keep you and your family safe – whether you appreciate it or not.

They do it out of a sense of duty and honor, with no thought to their own well-being. And they will keep doing it because they are there to serve YOU!

          1. No organization is perfect but police are way above average in terms of morality and honor. They live shorter lives just to protect YOU and very often get no thanks.

These fine men and women are heroes in every sense of the word/

    1. If you live up in the far North reaches of Fullerton, you are better off calling Brea or La Habra.

True story: Back in 2002 a neighbor was having a party and his/her guests were flicking cigarette butts and firecrackers into my back yard. I called FPD. After 20 minutes no one showed up so I called them back and asked where they were. The dispatcher said the officer was having difficulty finding my residence and questioned whether it was a real address! So I called Brea PD and they were there in under 5 minutes. I called on Brea 2 more times before moving and they were always fast and professional.

Another time I called 911 to report a father (50) beating his son (20ish) to bloody pulp. Mom got back handed a few times too. After 10 minutes of severe beating I called FPD back and they said all officers were busy. After another 10 minutes or so (and dad had dragged his beaten kid back inside their domicile) 3 plain-clothed detectives show up in an unmarked car. They all got out and two were holding drink cups from a fast-food joint a few blocks over. I asked what took so long and they got pissed that the action was over after “just getting the call”.

That was all under McPension. The new chief, if he is any good, can’t change that culture over night- no way!

Buy a gun and call Brea PD if you need the police to actually get involved. Otherwise call FPD to take the report, loose it, and and then deny ever taking it.

    2. Cops live shorter lives? Fact: police officer is not even among the top 10 most dangerous jobs ion America. Statistically, traveling salesmen are more likely than cops to die on the job. If a cops DOES die on the job, it’s probably in a car crash and probably because he wasn’t wearing a seat belt

All traveling salesmen are heroes! (see how silly this sounds?)

..but I digress. Not sure what any of this has to do with the fact that one of “Fullerton’s finest” is accused of theft. Doesn’t sound like “heroic” behavior to me.

  11. First: Anytime anyone starts a tale with “true story” makes one think what part of the story is not true. I’m not sure everybody is happy with Brea PD. I have read some are not happy with the way the PD shot and killed some druggie in YL who was playing finger guns with the po po. ( A lessen to be learned there Mr. Thompson, it’s 10 o’clock do you know where your children are?)

    1. Playing finger guns? Is that the latest excuse for the shooting of an unarmed suspect?

No shame behind the thin blue line.

  12. police do protect, but most of the time they are a grossly overpaid nuisance. Harassing stoners, conducting illegal DUI checkpoints while getting overtime, writing tickets to soccer moms, or just the all to common physical assault of DTF patrons. Did these losers really dream of growing up to ask a 21 year old kid if he could smell his rockstar to make sure there isn’t any alcohol in it? Fuck the police.

  13. It’s not just about who is going to come to your house in the middle of the night. What happens if your little girl turns up missing? What if you or your wife are hit by a hit & run driver? What if you’re driving to the store and you are carjacked?

I don’t care how guns-rights or whatever you think you are, but it is the police (for better or worse) that will investigate and hopefully solve those crimes.

And Gonzo, maybe police work isn’t the most dangerous job statistically speaking, but it is one of the only jobs where people try to hurt you on purpose. I’m not saying they are all heroes, but you have to give them some credit for walking into situations that most run away from.

This officer should be fired, and probably will be. But it just gives the cop-haters here on this board an excuse to rant and rave about how bad they are. Funny how Travis never posts a story about the police that isn’t negative, or about bad computer guys. After that story last week with the kid putting spyware on girls laptops, you think he would have talked about how screwed up computer guys are.

    1. Right on! We need more folks to quit questioning our fine police officers and get behind them. Second guessing and always complaining about your rights is not what we need. We need to be safe in our homes and know that when we call 911 the best and brightest are rolling!

      1. “Second guessing and always complaining about your rights is not what we need.”

What the hell? Seconding guessing authority is what this country was founded on. It’s covered in the first amendment and 10 years later when John Adams tried to take that right away it was congress that almost revolted.

BTB Do you know why the second amendment is there? It is to protect us from the military and law enforcement. I support cops. Most are good people. Some do it because they like looking out for the little guy but most do it for the benefits.

    2. “This officer should be fired”

Really? Why? I mean, Jebus, stealin’ a computer is no worse than busting up a guy’s hand and stealing his wallet.

    3. Doing the job that you get (over)paid to do does not make you a hero, it just makes you an employee.

More stats? Ok, how’s this: It is much more likely that a cop will kill an innocent person in the line of duty rather than being killed themselves. Cops don’t put their own lives on the line, they put yours and mine on the line.

Let’s get real and scrape this layer of scum off of the FPD. It’s really starting to build up.

Funny how Travis never posts a story about the police that isn’t negative

That’s because good cops don’t bother me. There are already plenty of outlets for your self-aggrandizing press releases.

Someone’s got to tell the stories that you DON’T want the rest of us to hear.

    1. Yeah, we pay that sloth Andrew Goodwrench $130K to tell us all about the how they did an average job. Not a nickle goes to tell the truth!

  16. Sorry Travis the Truth hurts sometimes…..I hope you find peace soon. Lord knows we do not need any more victims….I think you deep down inside would have to agree.

  17. I want to know what happened in the theft case. Surely there is a public record with the name and result in the courthouse.
