The “Fullerton Gazette” Chaffee Scam Explained

As you may have seen Paulette Chaffee got the much coveted endorsement of the “Fullerton Gazette“, a mysterious little rag that until her specific endorsement nobody knew existed.

Well, after a little internet sleuthing I discovered why there is no byline to their articles and no names associated with their masthead. It turns out that every single one of the non-Fullerton stories is purchased content from a site called PLR (Private Label Rights). I don’t recommend clicking the link, it’s ad central but feel free to see for yourselves.

PLR sells themselves in the following way:

“We believe content marketing for health and wellness professionals doesn’t need to be time consuming or complicated. There’s a faster and easier way.

“What we do is create beautiful done-for-you coaching resources that you can license, brand and sell as your own, so you can grow large and devoted audiences, without having to write everything from scratch.”

So not only is the Fullerton Gazette purchasing nonsense clickbait content, they’re purchasing “wellness” clickbait in an effort to pretend to look legit while boosting for Paulette. Allow me to show you the proof:

It’s like that for every single non-Fullerton related “article” on the site starting with the very first one.

Here’s a quick rundown of some Fullerton Gazette articles from oldest to newest:

The original article from November 2019 on the website was the hardest to find because the Gazette author spelled Turmeric incorrectly which just adds to the hilarity of this copy editing fail.

The next two are just copy/paste jobs.

Then we have another fun one because the original article had 9 ways to make the most out of a Bad Day but our Gazette copypasta expert managed to truncate it to 3 and mess the title up.

And finally two more straight copy/paste jobs.

There you have it folks, the Fullerton Gazette’s prize worthy clickbait journalism as purchased on PLR for “credits”.

It’s quite clear that someone is paying for PLR content for the Fullerton Gazette. It’s also quite clear that someone is paying for content to benefit Paulette Chaffee’s campaign, possibly exclusively to benefit Paulette Chaffee’s campaign.

Just a reminder for all the social media experts on Paulette Chaffee’s publicly disclosed payroll, intentionally hiding campaign expenditures is a crime.

This blog has never been afraid to name and shame people monkeying with our local government. That said, if you’d like to contact FFFF and tell your side of the story before it gets out ahead of you and your information gets sent to the District Attorney and FPPC, the button is at the top of this screen.

  1. Wait a minute, a Chaffee being dishonest with voters?

Nooooooooooooo. They’ve never spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to do that before. Never.

  2. The information will be turned over to the FPPC and the DA. When Paulette Marshall loses, again, she will get more delightful acknowledgement for her activities “in the community.”

  3. Joshua, if you have the time please replicate this post but turn your attention to that brand-spanking new journalistic endeavor called Anaheim Education Bulletin. And let’s find out who “Deborah Hayter” is and how much she charges for her dubious services. maybe then she might realize she could spend a few days in the Women’s Unit at the Central Jail.

  4. What a hoot. Sooooooooo clumsy. The Chaffee brand of oafishness. At least they’re providing the community with comedy, which is exactly all they have to offer.

  5. And it’s no surprise at all that your very own Fullerton Mayor, Jennifer Fitzgerald, is supporting this phony criminal for OC Board of Education. Looks like she and Pringle are part of the Chaffee crime family now too.

  6. Expect to see Billboard on Wheels out this weekend in full force supporting our darling little “School Teacher” Paulette Chaffee.

  7. I think I know the answer, but did Paulette really use pics from her court ordered community service in her current campaign propaganda?

    1. I’m sure not. All those pictures look staged and I doubt if she would come within 15 ft. of a real human child.

  8. This story borrows information from the Fullerton Observer article posted the day before this article was posted. We are happy to have information from stories that originate at the Observer repeated and expanded on by other local media. The purpose we all have is to inform the public.

    1. No it doesn’t. But you virtually copied our story without even a vague head nod. When has the Observer EVER informed the public? Right now you are running pro-school bond editorials as if they were news articles. New day, same Yellowing Observer. How about a post on the districts illegally using public resources and students to promote their political campaign. When will you inform the public about that, when Hell freezes over?

  9. Also note that the same promotional video appears on Chaffee’s official campaign site though with no attribution to the fake Anaheim Education Bulletin and without byline Deborah Hayter for the Anaheim Education Bulletin. Though the copy on Chaffee’s official site does have the required FPPC ID.
Is it also suspicious that both fake news sites were created with Weebly and are hosted by godaddy and launched within two weeks of each other?

  10. Chaffee campaign appears to have created a special paper for each city in the OC Board of Education 4th District which covers Fullerton, Placentia, La Habra, Buena Park and parts of Anaheim. Each site has a bunch of paid for content, a couple event announcements and a video or photo of District 4 candidate Paulette Chaffee. Several of the sites have links to each other. The BP, LH, and Placentia sites were registered on the same day seconds from each other. The promotional video pretending to be an independent interview of Chaffee is announced on the Fullerton site with link to the Anaheim site. The same “interview” video (and photo announcing Chaffee’s campaign) also appears on Chaffee’s official campaign site – though posted 2/9/2020 and with no attribution to the Anaheim site or the PR agent doing the “interview” – on the campaign site the required FPPC ID # and paid for statement are included – while on the Anahiem site the video posted 2/16/2020 has no FPPC ID or paid for info.

    1. Her campaign paid for these sites through an intermediary, did not disclose as such, then the intermediary lied to the public about the funding source.

      All kinds of crimes committed.
