Parks Employee Cost Fullerton 40K

We finally know more of the story of that overturned Parks and Recreation vehicle from 2016 that the city has been so suspiciously tightlipped about.

Turns out the Parks & Rec employee driving the vehicle was at fault and it cost the city at least $43,000 in claims.

Parks and Wreck Claim

Parks and Wreck Fault

The city has never, not once, commented on this story or what happened nor how much it has cost the taxpayers. As far as we know the employee(s) at fault are still on the job.

  1. Fascinating.

In Josh Ferguson’s post on March 5th, 2019, he reports that the city said “There are no available records regarding the incident.” That’s in 2019. Yet, the document above is dated 2017, about an incident in 2016. Also, note the reference to the “Traffic Collision Report”, which I assume is an official Fullerton Police Dept document. All this begs the question, was Josh blatantly lied to? At least 2 documents, one a city hall internal memo/email and the other supposedly a police department report, simply don’t exist, at least as far as the city wants to pretend.

  2. What would it have cost the city manager and the city council to be forthright on this to the public from the beginning? Nothing. But dishonesty and concealment is in their nature. They deserve everything they get.

    1. Yeah that’s the thing. You expect them to cover up what happened with Felz and Hughes because that was some legitimate obstruction of justice right here but this was comparatively minor. The driver was negligent but it didn’t appear to be a DUI like a lot of people assumed when the City went into lockdown mode. But they’re so used to obfuscating and concealing the truth they don’t even know how to be forthright when its in their best interest.

  3. What happens to the drink driving parks employee?

Oh what, there wasn’t one! Don’t you feel any responsibility for wrongly libiling the P&R employee?
There seems to be a lack of morals, ethics, & integrity, from the author/editor of this blog. it appears as though it’s more important to denigrate the reputation of the city of Fullerton than to be accurate and factual in a reasonable and responsible manner. Someone needs to think about Fullerton’s future what’s the best way to improve it versus what this blog’s author is doing. It makes a lot of gripes, most of them misunderstood from the what’s best for the city perspective.

    1. What are you on about?

Where in Mr. Machin’s post did he state that the Parks employee was drinking?

The post is purely factual about an issue the city pretended never happened.

    2. Either you are missing a few points or you are trying really (REALLY!) hard to find some way to make City Hall look good at any cost and the evil FFFF blog look, well, evil. Lets look at few of your points.

The FFFF blog has never said the P&R driver was drinking or drunk. The original blog post merely said that there were rumors floating around that whoever this nameless person was who was driving that night might be drunk. It’s kind of difficult to libel someone if you don’t know their name. That rumor was not repeated in the latest post. Considering the track record the city has regarding honesty in drunk driving cases, we’ll likely never know. Do you have any inside sources about what actually happened that night? Especially since it seems that the city wants to claim that it never happened.

“….it’s more important to denigrate the reputation of the city of Fullerton than to be accurate and factual in a reasonable and responsible manner.” Just who are you trying to kid? This last post was accurate and factual, with the documentation to back up what was said. The city has consistently either openly lied or actively tried to cover up the hidden deeds of city employees. As was pointed out in another comment, why hide things about this case? It was a traffic accident. Most of us have had traffic accidents. It’s the city’s knee jerk response to hide everything that happens in the city that makes people suspicious that there might be more to this than they want us to know.

“Someone needs to think about Fullerton’s future what’s the best way to improve it…”. You are absolutely correct. But, since the city has either consistently lied about or tried to hide so many important issues within the city, the FFFF blog is trying to shine a light into the dark corners of Fullerton. Just saying everything is wonderful, being positive, saying what great leadership we have, just doesn’t, and hasn’t, worked. Digging up actual city documentation that shows what actually has happened is one way the FFFF blog is trying to make the city a better place.

We’re all for ideas on how to fix all of the serious issues with Fullerton. Do you have any? Ignoring the lies and coverups isn’t going to help the city in any way. Neither is making vague statements that the writers on this blog have their facts wrong, aren’t qualified to have an opinion, or just don’t know what they’re talking about. Give the writers of the blog, and the rest of us, specific examples of where they’re wrong. They’re misreading city financial documents? Show us where. Didn’t interpret an email correctly? Show us where. The writers are big boys and will likely admit they were wrong if you give them specifics.

You have anything but vague opinions?

    3. You know what’s a really fucking easy way to avoid a misunderstanding?

      TELL THE GODDAMN TRUTH.

That’s the problem with this city. That’s why this blog exists. We have a bunch of cowards over at City Hall who think the only thing the public can successfully digest is radio silence.

If these people simply told the truth, there’s nothing to post.

Conclusion. Family involvement in medical care occurs routinely and is most likely to involve a spouse, and is consistent with family interaction patterns among older adults. These findings also suggest that when providers invite family members to support treatment outside the office visit, these invitations are appropriate for older adult patients across a continuum of good to poor health.

  4. In most states, treatment laws are written more for a Tom Clancy thriller than for getting people the help they need. Courts will often look to see if someone presents “a clear and present danger” to themselves or others before they will require treatment. If you are able to find a hospital for someone with a severe mental illness, they will often not be allowed in until something tragic happens with this backwards standard. In 42 states, some form of assisted outpatient treatment is available, but seldom used. In the eight other states it is nonexistent. Assisted outpatient treatment is one way to ensure that someone stays on treatment. Experience shows that once a person with a severe mental illness starts treatment, they will realize and see the benefits and remain in care. Many legal standards to treatment are outdated. They were based on old notions of mental illness that have long been disproven by modern medical science. They are often defended by misguided lawyers who try to block needed treatment. The paramount civil right of someone who is severely mentally ill should be adequate treatment, as Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in 1999: “It must be remembered that for the person with severe mental illness who has no treatment, the most dreaded of confinements can be the imprisonment inflicted by his own mind, which shuts reality out and subjects him to torment of voices and images beyond our powers to describe.”

  5. Hello obviously there is a HR problem and as comments come in for warning Fullerton’s Department staff of authorities beings and equality giveth to all over task force . Law makers and safe street keepers are kinda like….stay tuned .I’ve been accumulating over 10 years worth of interviews and response sadly and effectively as they are slow to come forward.but yet is as defined. Be right and integrity IS Integrity is taking responsibility for your actions regardless of the consequences so that means if you’ve done something and you know the wrongs wrong and you’ve wronged whoever and whatever you’ve wronged you stand up and you take what’s coming you don’t hide like a coward or runoff stand Fullerton PD for those of you that know better have some integrity and realize there is more than just morals it’s is truly an edifying experience at this point and all will have a federal investigation and anything that hasn’t been uncovered will be mark my words Good job to those of authoritative agencies that govern this city . I think it’s now the people take it back . good job keep it up keep it up wait there is deffenly more
