As of Saturday, March 7th The Friends are saddened to report that Jan Flory’s dog is still dead.
Pretty soon that’s gonna be the most famous dead dog in Fullerton’s history.
I saw Jans dog yesterday, still sitting in the same spot, hasn’t moved once since it arrived here (D.H.). Poor thing it must have had a ruff life, looks like broomstick marks, Oggie Doggie’s going to help with a little therapy,I’ll keep you Friends posted.
Even the flying monkies skipped out.
I have to say the photo is hilarious but what the *%#! is all this about Jan’s poor dog?
Oh, Hollis. Let me spell it out for you. Flory’s dog is a literary trope. It stands in for all the common people whom Mrs. Flory held (holds) in such low esteem. Its figurative death and transfiguration into a comical denizen of doggie heaven represents the eventual liberation of the common folk from the yolk of tyrannical liberal ruling class condescension.
