Moorlach Swing. Moorlach Miss.

After 2014 sightings will become much rarer.

And now for some County news.

Our crazy, ever more left-leaning affiliates at the Orange Juice Blog reported on a story here, about 2nd District Supervisor John Moorlach and his quest to give himself another term in office (there is currently an eight consecutive year limit). His proposal was to amend the County Charter to impose a lifetime limit of three full terms, thereby increasing his tenure by 50%; and he asked his colleagues on the Board to place it on the June ballot.

The proposal was defeated 3-2 with only our own Supervisor, Shawn Nelson supporting the idea letting the voters take a swing at it.

Of course the Moorlach Plan was seen for the self-serving nonsense it was. When so-called conservatives start to confuse their own interest with the public good, it’s waaaaay past time to go. Unfortunately, Moorlach is one of those big idea guys whose big solutions to solve intractable problems just need a little more time to percolate. And then more time. And when the expensive idea ultimately fails we are left to ponder the linguistic and logical gymnastics that convert defeat to victory, or a darn good try, at least an attempt to do something.

What the Supervisors should put on the ballot is a two-term lifetime limit and have done with it. That way we can cycle through losers like Jim Silva, Todd Spitzer, Cynthia Coad, Tom Wilson, and all the other miscreants who agreed to massive retroactive pension spikes, and not have to worry about any of them ever exercising their incompetent misrule in the County Hall of Administration again.

    1. Will the troll known as Cindy, Pete, Lisa, Bev, Rodger, Farmer John, Lim, Jimmy, Kelly, Redman, Chip, Proctor, Mick, Eddie, Might mite, Jamie, Jane Ho, Sick of the pig mind, Nicky, etc…

…pick one name and stick to it.

      1. Yes excellent suggestion. How about the troll with the multiple personalities disorder, decides that in honor of Leap Day, that they will vow to stay on their medication, and synchronize their personal thoughts, and express them as one entity.

      1. You will take Spitzer because you have no choice.

Couldn’t agree more about Campbell. What a waste of oxygen to support that little self-important incompetent.

        1. I would take Spitzer over just about any recycled OC has-been or job hopper who could conceivably run against him. Remember Mickey Conroy? The above mentioned Coads live in the 3rd also, you never know if some troglodytes like them might crawl out from under a rock to contest an open seat.

  1. There was a time when people had to have representatives because they were too far away or too busy with their daily lives to get directly involved in the issues of the day. Representatives were chosen who best represented the average position of people that he represented. The system has never worked. It will never work. All these horror stories about the city council demonstrate again that representative government does not work.

With today’s technology a direct vote is not only possible, it’s easy. Millions of times a day financial transactions take place between a buyer and a seller and for the most part the process works smoothly. We could use the same kind of process to directly vote on the issues of the day. The way the new process would work is this: A representative would be given a proxy vote for each constituent that does not directly choose to vote on an issue. A constituent could cancel the proxy and directly vote on any issue before his representative. Simple and easy! If we had this system in effect now we could prevent these “runaway” representatives from doing whatever they want to after they get elected. Essentially we could remove the proxy relationship via a secured website. What do the rest of you think about this idea?

    1. If we were not going to a “cloud” internet system very soon I may tend to agree but for now the only offense is a good defense. There are certain lines that will never be crossed in this country as there is still tremendous power vested in the people at this point. We all just need to get involved at the bottom and fumigate our way to the top of this maggot pile.

  2. “Two terms is too short, as the bureaucracy can just wait you out.” -John Moorlach

Yeah John, and sometimes you are the bureaucracy, and the voters have to wait you out.

A secure and encrypted network would be an excellent way to have truly representitive government that would be a truer voice of the people than is currently established.

    1. Wasn’t “cutting government waste” part of Morlock’s original platform?

    2. Morlocks are humanoid creatures, said to have descended from humans, but by the 8,028th century have evolved into a completely different species, said to be better suited to their subterranean habitat. They are described as “ape-like”, with little or no clothing, large eyes and grey fur covering their bodies. As a result of living underground, they have little or no melanin to protect their skin, and so have become extremely sensitive to light.

The Morlocks’ main source of food is the Eloi, another race descended from humans that lives above ground. The Morlocks treat the Eloi as cattle, and the Eloi do not resist being captured.

  5. Moorlock used to be the County finance guru after the replacement of Robert Citron who caused the great OC bankruptcy!
Well, after that stint as county treasurer, he became a supervisor and actually should have been term limited out after 8 years of service TOTAL. This switching jobs and restarting the Term limit clock is a crock!

  6. Hey come on you guys.

Supervisor Campbell is doing a great job!

Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!

Do you have any idea how much money is to be had by having your WIFE on the inside! This is like pissing in the pool. Nobody even knows!

Quit trying to ruin it for those of us who are chosen to exploit the public. Don’t be jealous, be happy for me.

  7. I think Moorlack got far too much mileage and undue credit for the financial analysis investigative work that Chris Street actually performed regarding Bob Citroen’s chicanery, and Chris Street got far too much “infamy” for pseudo-unethical fiduciary actions which he undertook as part of his private free-market business dealings.

But then, isn’t that just exactly what our now entirely fraudulent-propagandist “free press” specializes in?
