Creativity in Downtown Fullerton
Because so many things in our town are ass-backward we almost never get to report on anything fun or even whimsical.
The other day we received an email sharing an example of a folk art assemblage in the alley in the 200 block of West Santa Fe Avenue. We don’t know who put together this amazing collection, but it’s obviously an attempt to bring a smile to the passersby. The sender asked me to call him/her “Fullerton Art Lover,” so I’ll leave it at that.
In the old Redevelopment days this would have been shut down, but now we can enjoy some private sector creativity, a statement without official imprimatur.

It’s always gratifying to see folks express themselves and I wish we had more of this sort of uninhibited individual expression in Fullerton.
And maybe we can get Fullerton Art Lover to become a regular contributor to FFFF.
I’ve seen that on the way to bootleggers.
Very cool.
Deliciously eclectic. I’ll have to go by. Just south of the model place?
Yes, just south of Modelmania and slightly east on the alley behind it.
Excellent!
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, I guess.
Looks like the place at 406 E. Wilshire, the old wild west house-shack.
It’s a juice and java shack according to the Kennedy Sisters.
I’m assuming this is tongue in cheek. Pretty sure all the FFFF staff and writers know who owns this house and who lives there. Very funny…
Fullerton Art Lover may know. Not me.
I don’t know. I saw this walking down the alley to Bootleggers.
I like this. What’s tongue in cheek about it?
Vivian Kitty Jaramillo with her 25 years of professional planning experience may be around for a visit.
LMAO
You beat me to it.
Finally something FFFF likes. Please do more of what’s good about Fullerton.
People have been telling us that for 17 years, chum. Our response has always been that there are several information outlets that already do that, from the Fullerton Observer, the News Tribune, the Chamber of Commerce, and of course the cherry on top – City Hall feel good about latest triumph (disaster) press release.
The problem will be most of the good things have Tony’s signature on them. The boohoos don’t like that.
Too true!
Does this have the official approval of Economic Development?
Been going by there for years and I need to drive by one more time before leaving for AZ.. I will NOT miss Fullerton very much and the stupid parking tickets. I actually owe one for a stupid ticket but…
It’s said to have been an old horse stable where Artimus Gordon and Dr. Miguelito Quixote Loveless hatched their dastardly plan to rob a train just one block to the east. Apparently, Gordon had been hypnotized, and under disguise and met with the infamous Dr. Loveless in the dusty old stable to plot the heist of the century.
And, of course, the fact that this alleged meeting took place the day after the city was incorporated is not a coincidence. The day prior to this historic event, the golden key to City Hall (now the Police Station) was presumably to have been given to George Fullerton by the Amerige brothers.
Barnie F. Kelso, the intrepid president of Fullerton Heritage, and Cherri from the Library, are hot on the trail of uncovering the “truth” behind this fascinating story. The preservation of this historic stable is, of course, of the utmost importance, if only to serve as a monument to the city’s fondness for historic preservation. They say, it would make a perfect tanning salon.
Oh, you, Mr. West!
Don’t tell Kitty.
Looks like one of Bushala’s flop houses.
Looks like a fine juice and java establishment to me.
That’s Big Scary Downtown Developer, to you.
