Dick Jones’s Baby: “The Wild, Wild New West”

UPDATE #2: WE LAST RE-RAN THIS 2008 POST BACK ON MARCH 25TH, 2011. THEN IT WAS JUST FUNNY. NOW, WITH THE ABUSE AND PERJURY IN THE VETH MAM CASE, AND OF COURSE THE MURDER OF KELLY THOMAS, IT BECOMES A HELL OF A LOT  MORE SINISTER.

OUT OF CONTROL COPS IN DOWNTOWN FULLERTON ARE THE DIRECT RESULT OF AN OUT OF CONTROL, OPEN AIR BOOZE COURT DELIBERATELY CREATED BY THE THREE BLIND MICE – JONES, BANKHEAD, AND McKINLEY.

DON’T BELIEVE IT? JUST LISTEN TO JONES’ OWN ADMISSION OF FAILURE. THE CREATION OF AN NIGHTLY INSANE ASYLUM IN DTF REQUIRED A GESTAPO TO CONTROL IT.

PLEASE BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THIS WILL FEATURE PROMINENTLY IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. LET THEM EXPLAIN HEEHAW’S OWN WORDS.

— Joe Sipowicz

UPDATE: WHILE CLEANING OUT THE DUSTY CORNERS OF THE FFFF CYBERSTORAGE BIN I STUMBLED UPON THIS TRANSLUCENT JONES GEM. TOO GOOD NOT TO SHARE AGAIN. ENJOY DOC HEE HAW AS HE EXPLAINS THE MESS HE’S MADE OF DOWNTOWN FULLERTON. OF COURSE HE DOESN’T TELL US HOW MUCH PUBLIC MONEY HAS BEEN SPENT MAKING A VERY FEW PEOPLE WEALTHY.

NOW YOU KNOW WHY THE DOWNTOWN FULLERTON KLEPTOCRACY LOVES OL’ PHOGBOUND SO MUCH.

– Joe Sipowicz

Enjoy the crazy ramblings of the Fullerton City Council’s own Doc Phogbound – wonderful nuggets of nonsense strung out like pearls on a necklace. How many times can one individual abuse the baby and the bath water metaphor? Start counting.

Even after all his breast beating about the out-of-control monster he created, he still votes to subsidize the bootleg night clubs.

Now it’s thirteen years – and counting.

  1. I just love the part of this clip when Dr. Nut Cracker talks about where he grew up in Galveston (my home town) and the Mafia ran the city. Even though there was illegal gambling, they ran the town “quite well” he said.

  2. The money he squeezes from the Dee Velopers finances his re-elections, I see what Dick brought to Fullerton CORRUPTION.

    1. Jorge my Friend, what you just described is called “pay to play” and it’s nothing new, I’m sure it happens in every city all across America.

  3. If you want to really make Jones want to call some mafia types on you guys, just start posting his form 460 thats on file with the city.

In fact, post it then do the background reasearch between say, trash haulers, lanscape maintenance, you know all those RFP’s that got awarded. You would be amazed at how they give the money then get the contracts or better yet, no bid contracts.

  4. An excellent recap of DTF. A redevelopment failure when Jones showed up and a redevelopment failure when he finally runs out of gas.

mango, care to argue with your hero Hee Haw?

  5. The idiot still believes that redevelopment will save us all. Can you imagine being so stupid that you would allow bars to open without Conditionsl Use Permits??!!!! No wonder it was the wild west. They had no control over restaurants that were really unlicensed clubs. Corrupt or incompetent Doc, which is it?

  6. Downtown Fullerton Kleoptocracy.

Right on the monay. Steal property tax increment, dole it out to pals and politically connected developers.

    1. Nelson lent some money to that jerkoff Sean Francis. But The Continental Lounge never took any Redevelopment money so once again my master is wrong. Now I will have to go back in his pocket.

  7. It is rather ironic that Dick Jones mentions:

“1st Rule of GVT is Public Safety….”

“A young man with permanent brain damage….”

    “A murder ten days ago…….”

It seems that he thought those to be serious things before!

  8. This is an open letter to all the bars in fullerton- all 50 plus-
Im glad you chose our city to do business, but with that you owe me a minute of your time:
Every Thursday Friday and Saturday I get the opportunity to fight with your drunk patrons about my desiganated parking spot, they claim its theirs and their alone, even though I have a sticker- it seems not to matter to your patrons.
Every Sunday I spend the first 2 hours cleaning up condoms, cups and everything else you can think of, with gloves on and dispose of such items.
I was hoping that each and every bar owner would submit to me his/her address so I may return your customers belongings, no I wont distribute the urine, fecal material and your wrist bands, broken bottles, jackets, trash–nope, I will leave it in a bag on your front porch- so you may realize the hazardous waste your patrons are leaving on my property- just so you know this idea is from an *80 year old neighbor of mine- who frankly wants to drive me personally to all your homes in her 1978 buick skylark with curb finders…..so let me know when I can return that…respectfully citizen M and Sweet Natured Delores

  9. As he holds his head trying to figure out where he went wrong he exclaims, “Sorry folks, that I pushed so hard to get so many bars and restaurants downtown, I thought it was a wonderful thing but guess I didn’t recognize human behavior.” –Duh

    1. here’s an idea…how about if when the police arrest a DUI suspect in the future, that the police make every effort is made to trace back to where the suspect was drinking, and start citing the bar where the suspect became inebriated. Three strikes and we pull their liquor license permanantly.

  10. “I thought it was a wonderful thing but guess I didn’t recognize human behavior.”

Let that be HeeHaw’s political epitaph.

  11. I worked in DTF for many years in the 90’s and have seen it go form a quaint and welcoming atmosphere to something that resembles the Vegas strip on a bad night. I’ve had to swerve to avoid hitting drunk pedestrians on Harbor Blvd that jump out into moving traffic. It’s sad really. I used to enjoy strolling around downtown and now it’s so full of bars and drunks I don’t bother. I’m seeing Brea at Birch St. becoming the same way. Sad. It’s all about the green .. $$$

    1. like we are told all the time any one can sue anyone. if the bars are a nuisance sue them as such. patrons that get DUI’s can sue for being overserved. injured can do the same. call your lawyer and get paid. that hurts them for real as they are all about the money.

  12. Well, I was holding onto my last hope that this man was NOT from Texas. So much for that. All that I can respectfully ask is that you please not send him back. And I sincerely hope that you don’t hold the rest of Texas accountable for his stupidity. There are lots of good people here who are NOT morally bankrupt and care about Kelly Thomas and his family very much.

  13. Okay, someone please explain this one to me.

I live in Cypress, so I’m not privy to what is going on with DTF. Is he saying that the police have to get tough with the bars in DTF to control the problems associated with such businesses?

  14. These guys have quietly morphed sleepy Bedford Falls into seedy Pottersville where Bert the Cop has been replaced by Brute the Enforcer who runs in taser totin’ wolf packs policing the streets through fear and intimidation.

For the select few, it’s a wonderful life.

  15. It sounds like that because there are so many bars in DTF, the clientele brought loads of unwanted trouble and mayhem. If this is the case, why the hell did the city grant so many business licenses to these types of enterprises? So, if I understand this correctly, the mayor and city council ordered the police to crack down on the bars in DTF. Am I on the right track here?

    1. yes..you are definitely on the right track. It is now a drinking destination. Makes all of us lifetime Fullerton residents so proud. (note sarcasm)

and the non-alcohol selling businesses are mad as hell having to deal with all the residual crap and destruction from the bars every freaking weekend…. (Enter FPD Gestapo who now has permission to beat the shit out of people) Saint Jude ER has a staff at the ready Thu~sat night at 2am waiting for the drinking, fighting, barfing men that roll in there all night long. And the bars aren’t complaining as their bank accounts just keep getting bigger. The city should never have given approval for all of these places. Most (not all) of the business open up under the auspices of a “restaurant” ; but the food is shit and they don’t care because all they really want to do is sell booze. it is a cluster fuck of the highest order.

      1. Thanks for the clarification!

Well, it sounds like the city is at fault for issuing all those permits and licenses for all those businesses. Why the hell does a small town, especially in such a concentrated area, need so damn many bars?!?!?! And then they tell the police to use gestapo tactics to clean up the area?

Now I understand one of the underlying reasons why there is a recall.

      2. So, it sounds as though kelly Thomas was killed because he was thought of as part of the “problem crowd” around the bars (Slide Bar). Gestapo tactics were utilized with the blessings of the city council.

        THE RECALL MUST BE SUCCESSFUL!!

        1. well no not really, they knew very well who Kelly THomas was; and where he was. And which bar didn’t like it that he was there( a very police friendly bar). So as Fullerton’s finest Gestapo, did what they do best and “cleaned up” that problem for this police friendly bar. Whether the bar called the police is up for debate, for some.

the drinking problem downtown is part of the equation, but not directly related to Kelly Thomas, per se (in my opinion). But is is huge problem that plagues Fullerton, and the city council IS responsible for that part of it.. Like I said a cluster fuck of the highest order.

          1. I think it is indirectly related. The FPD Goon Squad was assigned to DTF to kick ass. The worst, sickest, angriest, most self-entitled goons were deployed to keep order by any means necessary. And they got away with a lot of stuff way over the line and got used to it.

I believe Kelly was targeted by these goons that night. It was just murder.

    1. There are many things that can be done to control the unruly businesses. Killing people isn’t one of them.

The city can: levy fines, enforce code violations to a T, conduct frequent fire department inspections, enforce noise ordinance, revoke business license, etc…

What a hell of a situation THAT is!

  16. Simple Justice :
These guys have quietly morphed sleepy Bedford Falls into seedy Pottersville where Bert the Cop has been replaced by Brute the Enforcer who runs in taser totin’ wolf packs policing the streets through fear and intimidation.
For the select few, it’s a wonderful life.

    This

  17. I wonder if ole Chief Sellers passed out CCW permits to his city buddies. That would be something worth knowing…… CCW payoff for friends and buddies. FFFF could do a request to find out all the CCW holders that the FPD signed off on. The Us vs Them mentality of Fullertons guvment just makes me wonder about this.

  18. Oh yeah, great site (not).

So there is this supposedly big exposé there headlined

BUSHALA BUSTED – ADMITS TO USING TRAGIC DEATH OF KELLY THOMAS TO SETTLE POLITICAL GRUDGES

And I read the article and the above assertion turns out ot be entirely false. Here’s what Bushala says in the LAT story:

“I believe in limited government, I don’t believe government has the solution to all our social problems,” said real estate developer Tony Bushala, a libertarian-leaning Republican who has launched a recall campaign against three council members over the Thomas case. “When government tries to come up with the solution, they create a new problem.”

The context was, as reporter Abby Sewell noted, “(FFF and Bushala) see the beating as an example of government overreach — and the city’s perceived unwillingness to take action against the officers as an example of union power.”

No where is their anything about settling “political grudges.”

Just a buncha bullshit about an otherwise interesting article I had read before.

    Great site alright. lol

    1. you are really starting to babble. yep there hash is settled, who cares how it is done. you claim to be impartial. please explain how goober jones has any credibility. did he or not just admit he did the wrong thing and then give away the store. a yes or no is fine. as an independent i think libertarian leaning repubs are idiots too so dont think i give a crap about some landlord. this is about Kelly and shows how and why your swine herd became who they are today, so yes, it is relevant.

  19. Anonymous: “Most (not all) of the business open up under the auspices of a “restaurant” ; but the food is shit and they don’t care because all they really want to do is sell booze. it is a cluster fuck of the highest order.”

Yes, this absolutely. It’s no wonder the cops are so overweight. Everywhere you go in this town it’s greasy, crappy slop that I wouldn’t feed a dog. You have to look pretty damn hard to find a place that serves anything that resembles actual food.

I have seen the club 330 on Birch St. (now Birch St. I believe) change over so many times in the last decade. All along Birch St. it’s one greasy spoon after another that are centered around alcohol and sports. Grrr. And huge loft and condo complexes going up everywhere. I can’t even see the sky anymore. Someone is getting fucking rich and they don’t give a damn who it’s hurting. Fuckers.

  20. Hey Dick Jones! you are done and finished.

Given your age, weight, health and eating habits you probably have 5 good years left before you end up a veggie. Retire and enjoy the years you have left.

P.S: Lay off the donuts and steaks.

By the way, you gotta love the “arguments” against the recall…

    http://protectfullerton-recallno.com/arguments.php

    …A real riot there.

    1. good one T N C. I have never seen a form letter shared by three people. the strangest to me was “they are trying to overturn an election.” duh huh

      1. Yeah. They didn’t even bother to attempt to disguise the fact all 3 were written by the same person. Did they find this form in a Mad Libs book?

        1. Jim Alexander is their lackey. A little chickenshit toad. I wonder what his future in Fullerton will be when the recall goes through.

  21. Yes, that is exactly what he is saying – because he didn’t have the balls to shut down his pals – like Florentine. He then gave them CUPs AND bought them new water mains for fire sprinklers.

    1. I heard that dimwit Florentine showed up at a recall table the other day and started hassling people. What a turd.

  22. Garbage Man :
I think it is indirectly related. The FPD Goon Squad was assigned to DTF to kick ass. The worst, sickest, angriest, most self-entitled goons were deployed to keep order by any means necessary. And they got away with a lot of stuff way over the line and got used to it.

I agree completely with your statement, you said it much better than I did.

    I think you are correct!

  24. One question….how in the hell did this moron ever get elected in the first place? It is scary to think the people of Fullerton put the city’s future in this old bastards hands.

    That sounds about right.

  26. It was Dick Jones who gave the cops (McKinleys & Bankheads goon squad) the green light to get mean and tough. You heard him. I heard him. Go to 5:10 in the video….”we’ve got to get hard and tough and mean right now, we cant allow for this to go on…”. Poor Kelly Thomas had the deck stacked against him.
