Missing PRA Request Found. Shana Goes Bonkers
A week or so ago, FFFF posted about the strange case of the missing PRA request, here, requesting communications between Councilperson Shana Charles and the City Manager, Mayor Fred Jung, et al. For some reason this request was omitted from the official log kept on the City website by the City Clerk.
Well, not any longer. The missing request has magically appeared in the log.
On July 30th, Charles let fly with this vulgar and toxic email:
Ms. Charles sure got her dander up. The reason for the outrage that caused the good professor to lose it? Here it is: the August 5th City Council meeting was cancelled.
So the City Manager and Mayor have cancelled the August 5th meeting and the ICE issue can be put off a couple weeks. If you’re an armchair social justice warrior like Charles is, this is outrageous! Shameful!
Shana is transformed into veritable jungle queen! She will explore any and all options! This will not be a quiet cancellation! Aux armes, Fullerton Boohoo!!
Of course no “blatant effort” was being made to silence anything. The council meeting on August 19th addressed the ICE lawsuit to Fullerton Boohoo satisfaction and life in Fullerton went on, somehow, despite the two-week delay.
The personal attack on Fred Jung was pretty objectionable since his health, whatever it may be, had nothing to do with National Night Out, a cop sponsored neighborhood building program which was being promoted by the Fullerton Police Department. And this isn’t the first time Charles has attacked Jung.
I have to wonder how this uncivil outburst might affect Charles’s promotion to Mayor in December, especially given her unlikely appointment as Mayor Pro Tem last year.
I find it deeply troubling that Councilwoman Charles is so vocal about ICE raids but remains silent on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The hypocrisy is staggering. While she demands a city council letter to Crusty Knome opposing ICE actions, there is no similar outcry from her regarding the thousands of starving children and the daily killings of women, children, and men in Gaza.
Why the double standard, Councilwoman Charles? Is it because the suffering in Gaza doesn’t align with your political agenda? Or perhaps because the plight of Palestinians doesn’t resonate as loudly as immigration policies? Or because the Fullerton observer has a Zionist writing Op Eds and you don’t wanna alienate Fullerton boo-hoo? The situation in Gaza is a humanitarian catastrophe, with international organizations like Amnesty International and the United Nations documenting severe violations of human rights and even genocide.
It’s time for Councilwoman Charles to show consistency in her advocacy. If she truly cares about human rights and justice, she should be just as passionate about condemning the atrocities in Gaza as she is about opposing ICE raids. Fullerton deserves leaders who stand up for human rights everywhere, not just when it’s convenient or politically expedient.
Her social justice only is domestic apparently. Her news only comes from the Observer.
I don’t see why she is obligated to say anything about Gaza. I don’t care what her opinion is about that either.
Have Jung, Dunlap, or Valencia spoken on Gaza? What can a city council do about foreign affairs?
I think Sheena just blew any slim chance she had of becoming Mayor.
That was never gonna happen. Jung needs the title for his election.

The only thing Charles and Zhara do that takes any effort is to stir up boohoo outrage.
Are we still doing the pronoun thing? She/Her doesn’t adequately describe her. Shamu/Macy’s Parade Balloon would be more accurate. Charles and Zhara ares shining examples of why small town politics are a total joke. Fullerton residents should be ashamed. This brings back nightmares of Flory, Bankhead and McKinley.
The boat parade of dumb and useless politicos in Fullerton is long and distinguished. Sadly, Shana is neither long or distinguished. She’s just an entitled white lady who didn’t get her way. There’s a name for that…starts with a K.
