Yellowing Submarine Advocates Tax Increase

Things are lookin' up!

Well of course they do. That’s what they know.

In the most recent edition of the squalid rag (page 1, 20% recycled paper) known as the Fullerton Observer, an unnamed editorial writer bemoans the fact that “City businesses fees” (sic) “may be outdated and too low.”

Well of course they are too low – for taxers like the Yellowing Observers, whether they are outdated or not.

Then there’s this gem: “While city (sic) employees and residents are being required to help out through layoffs, furloughs, increased fees, and reduced services, nothing has been asked of the business community.”

Huh? If anybody in Sharon Kennedy’s family had ever owned or run a business they would know that the business license is not a “fee,” it’s a thinly veiled tax, levied on businesses, and that it confers absolutely no service to the business owner. It’s just a revenue grab. Then of course the whole thing is pitched in the obligatory “look how small the increase per business is and look how many jobs it will keep!” routine.

If anybody is dumb enough to buy into I’d sure like to hear from them. And thanks Observer for a 2010 campaign issue! Let’s hear it. Whose for the new Observer tax increase?

  1. Someone should contact every business that advertises in this rag and let them know that the Observer wants to raise thier taxes.

  2. Does it ever occurr to these people that the businesses are providing the basis for what we do have? Should we ask them all to consider moving to Anaheim?

Come on folks! Our expenses in this state are too high already because we run everything (prisons, schools etc) at the costliest level in the country and then calim we are out of dough. The answer is to fix our cost structure not to eclipse our already record setting tax levels.

  3. I know, why not just make it 100% ? Then every city worker can get their scheduled raises forever! and what about the teachers and the life safety heroes and the children. They need help too. Its only a fee. Those big bad greedy business owners don’t deserve to keep all the money.

  4. Society no longer can afford the tyranny of snivel servants and their recepients, the welfare queens.
Fullertonites must resist the injustice of taxing our businesses into non exisence so to continue funding frivolous, contrived government positions and subsidizing those who refuse to earn their own money.
Free enterprise not forced tribute to petty bureaucrats is the foundation of a society that values and protects individual liberty.
Having the unfortunate experience of personally knowing Sharon Kennedy’s family of origin and its associates, I’m not surprised her opines called the Fullerton Observer advocates those who work for their money work harder and give more to government so those who feed at the public trough as snivel servants or welfare recepients never have to worry about food, clothing or shelter.
We are in dire economic straits and the only saving grace our economy may have is the success of private enterprise. The public sector feeds off the private sector and its gluttony is ruining our economy.
Artist/editor Sharon Kennedy should take a walk in the shoes of the private business owner and set up a lemonade stand in front of her mother’s house. And when she earns a dollar she must immediately give away forty cents to strangers who refuse to work.

  5. I wonder if the new wing at St. Jude is equipped to treat brain damage caused by the Observer?

  6. anyone who disrespects the Fullerton Observer is just jealous of its success. I mean , wow, stop being so mean and just realize this is the best thing that ever happened to fullerton.
