Weird Times At City Hall
Update: a well-informed reader pointed has out that 7/7/26 was removed from the calendar in December 2025 because staff determined it was too close to Independence Day.
I have no idea why it wasn’t so designated on the CC’s schedule found on the City website – until this afternoon.
This does beg the question as to why the meeting wasn’t rescheduled as an official hearing to make determinations regarding the budget and find out the status of the search for a new money-raising consultant. There seems to be almost no sense of urgency about the fact that the City still doesn’t have a budget for this fiscal year.
The scheduled meeting today was canceled at the end of 2025 when they voted on the meeting calendar.
Jung, Dunlap, and Valencia were the only votes in favor so if you’re upset about the cancellation, take it up with them
Then how come the “cancelled” notice didn’t show up until today? And how come the date was previously advertised as a budget hearing?
The budget hearing isn’t a public meeting. It’s some sort of foolish “community” meeting wherein a handful of agitators will push for a tax.
I checked. You are correct about the calendar. Charles voted no for some reason not worth investigating. Zahra took a powder at that meeting. He was film making.
I will add this to the post, and in a way it’s a good thing.
You’re right. They could at least LOOK like they’re doing something about the budget and the pot holes.
I assumed the community budget meetings were going to be official City Council meetings with the councilmembers actually being there.
If not, what the hell’s the point?
