I Pity the poor immigrant – Part 2

In just two weeks since October 21th, the Fullerton city staff have prepared the outline of a plan to create a legal fund and a general welfare fund for targets of zealous Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

That was pretty fast so I imagine the immigrant fraudster himself, Ahmad Zahra was doing some of his special brand hysteria behind the scenes.

Off we go, into the Wild Blue Yonder…

I say “outline” because the staff report for the item (#7 on this Tuesday’s council meeting) only presents generalities about who might be doing what. Specifically, the report recommends creating two funds of $100,000 each. How the money is doled out and by whom, and who would be responsible for any of it remains something of a mystery although the City Manager will pick the winners and sign the contracts. I do know that there will be no accountability: the local non-profit industry seems to be the intended recipient, and the third party aspect would just make it harder to figure out what is going on and unlikely to be audited for “deliverables” – as government neologizers love to phrase it.

But there’s going to be a snag.

Jamie Valencia, an unknown variable…

The vote on October 21st was 3-2 to move ahead, with the usual boohooing by the two “doctors.” At the urging of Mayor Fred Jung, Zahra came up with the $200,00 and Jamie Valencia went along with the nonsense. But later in the meeting she clarified her position that she did not want to spend any public money on this effort; she wanted non-profits involved in it, presumably with smiling encouragement being the City’s only contribution.

Knowledge just leads to complicity…

Will Ms. Valencia stick to her guns? Fullerton Boohoo and the screaming Kennedy sisters will be at the meeting in force, especially with the misinformed Les Amis boosters in attendance to bemoan the fate of the Montecristo’s patio – the one they diligently refused to pay rent on.

  1. If what you say is true, Valencia should be pissed off this was agendized with the creation of the two $100,000 funds.

Of course she never should have voted for the thing in the first place.

  2. This is a bunch of BS
    Illegal Aliens.

Fullerton has no money for this, fix our roads and infrastructures !

  3. Maybe Bushala should start paying for his “non-exclusive” patio before people complain about the deficit. No excuse for that at all, yet the writers here remained silent on it.

It’s all selective outrage to protect Tony’s interests. That’s clear to anyone who reads this blog at this point

    1. Why should he pay for a space open to the public. I was there last week and NONE of the six people sitting there were customers of the café. Some had their own food. One woman was just reading a book in the shade of the screen.

You’ll have to try harder sweet Elijah.

    2. How does giving money to illegal immigrants positively or negatively impact Bushala’s interests? It’s fun to type words. It’s hard to make them make factual sense.

      1. Tender Elijah says all sorts of things that are nonsense. But he’s young and sweet so I feel like giving him a pass.

  4. Valencia will vote to approve the $200k. She’s no fiscal conservative. She voted to hire 18 cab drivers and further expand the city’s exploding pension debt. $200k ain’t shit to her.

    1. Why does the angry man not like firefighters? Don’t like their union tactics? Blame the state senate and state assembly for passing laws protecting them. Last I checked, Valencia wasn’t either. Most firefighters are conservatives by the way.

      1. Maybe it’s because “firefighters” rarely fight fires. They’ve rigged the system to get lots of overtime, and paid wonderfully well, have massive pensions and get to retire at 50.

Many have second jobs because their work schedules are so cushy.

Instead of privatizing EMS, Fullerton took ambulance driving public adding to our pension debt. Now they’ve hired more layabouts thanks to a one time gift of Trump Bucks.

          1. You should be angry. Angry that overpaid and over-pensioned chuckleheads who get paid to sleep have the nerve to complain about their massive paydays while demanding ever more from the public treasury. And the fact that they’re able to legally bribe politicians and pick and choose who their bosses are going to be so they can continue their thievery. Valencia is a nurse and a member of the nurse’s union which is almost as bad as the fire union.

  5. It’s astonishing that the city is even contemplating the use of general fund dollars to subsidize rent or legal fees, especially for non-citizens. Setting aside any sympathies, one has to wonder: when was the last time the city offered such financial assistance to its own citizens in need? While it’s debatable whether the city should be in the business of providing cash assistance at all, it’s particularly puzzling that non-citizens would be the first to receive these benefits.

I’m sure we wouldn’t have to look far to find struggling single-parent households among citizens who could benefit from rent subsidies. It seems odd that the city council would prioritize non-citizens for this kind of support. Perhaps next, they’ll consider using Fullerton’s general fund to forgive the student debt of non-citizens. Why not, right?

In all honesty, how can we justify asking taxpayers for a sales tax increase when the city supposedly has enough funds to cover the rent and legal fees of non-citizens? This situation raises serious questions about the city’s priorities and financial management. It’s crucial to ensure that taxpayer money is being allocated fairly and responsibly, and that citizens are not being overlooked in favor of non-citizens.

    1. Zahra and Charles and the Kennedy Twins don’t care about you. They care about their feelings. And their feelings are not tethered to any reality. It’s just about them feeling virtuous and good about themselves.

  6. I was wondering about the public comment process at council meetings. If someone were to call in, speak for about 30 seconds, and then say they’d like to “use the rest of their three minutes” but remain silent on the line, what would happen? Would the line stay open, or would the call be ended?

    1. The City Clerk should end the call if you request to use the remainder of your three-minute allotted time to remain silent. Freedom of speech is a privilege, and your public comment time is a privilege. Those who abuse this privilege are fools. Mrs. Potato Head and Mr. Potato Head are morons for using their time to stay silent while mocking the city. The Mayor should not allow them to stand there and disrespect the privilege of public comment or waste other people’s time.

      1. Freedom of speech is a right, not a privilege.

Wasting other people’s time is rude and obnoxious. Mrs. Potato Head is a just a useless bitch.

        1. Thank you, Anonymous. I stand to be corrected. The City Clerk should end the call if you request to use the remainder of your three-minute allotted time to remain silent. Freedom of speech is a right, and your public comment time is a right. Those who abuse their rights are fools. Mrs. Potato Head and Mr. Potato Head are foolish morons for using their public comment time staying silent while mocking the city. The Mayor should not allow them to stand there and disrespect the privilege of making a public comment or waste other people’s time.

      1. True. And less generally way less destructive. I’ve seen those rioters in Portland all dressed up in animal costumes.
