Another Pringle Undertaking

Der Pringle is dying to get in...

The OC Cemetery District sure seems to have a morbid fascination with failure.

Last year we reported on how the Orange County Cemetery District had employed Anaheim’s mayor-for-hire, Kurt Pringle as a consultant. Pringle was getting 6,000 bucks a month to find a new cemetery site, do PR, and act as a cemetery developer. Which was really pretty funny since Pringle is not a realtor, is not a landscape architect, and all the publicity the Cemetery District has gotten lately has all been bad.

We have something really nice for you in mahogany.

Pringle’s been on the Cemetery District’s payroll for two years now, which seems like ample time to have accomplished a lot. Well, something. Anything.

But in these opaque, special districts nothing succeeds like failure, apparently, for tomorrow the Cemetery District Board of Trustees is being asked by their staff to extend Der Pringle’s contract even though so far he has accomplished virtually nothing for them. Part of the problem is that the Cemetery Board is independent of any real oversight; and the average age of the Board is something like 969 years old, so there seems to be zero sales resistance.

Renew!!?? Sweet Jebus! The Board ought to be suing Pringle and his Associates for breach of contract!

  1. $6000 tax dollars/month for cemetary public relations? and people unemployed for more than 99 months face homelessness and wonder thow they will get their next meal? what is wrong with this image? pringle is a great argument for libertarianism, and unfortunately just another poster boy for government bloat

  2. Looks to me like he was hired to find a site two years ago. What were the results? If they are zero what in the world would be the basis for rewarding that performance with a new contract?

  3. HD, hey man what world you from, this is government dude get with the program. Here’s how it works:

Get a government job and what ever you do don’t complete anything before you open at least two cans of worms. And of course your also an expert on worms (of all types). So now you get the next job (yes even before you finished job #1) and now you hire a new person and teach that person the can of worm trick. And that Mr. Dugan is how it works.

  4. First, end it. Then put it out to bid.

But get rid of the real estate part. I don’t even think that’s legal. Pringle isn’t a realtor.

    1. Sweet butter-corn baby Jebus Joe. What do you think JFD has a patent on the word “Jebus”, sue me! Come to think of it I believe I was the first 4F blogger to use that word and you snaked it from me. So put them pellets in your bong and smoke it.

  5. The least Pringle could do is make public appearances to “The Undertaker’s” WWE Theme song. Then maybe he could make some sort of case for gettin’ some of that scrilla…

    Otherwise…

  6. “nothing succeeds like failure”

    I love it.

Also, I didn’t know that Willie Nelson was the 3rd district trustee for the OC Cemetery District.

  7. Why does these type of non-functioning government agencies exist in the first place?

    This is nuts!

    Scrap it.

It is time to get our pitchforks and tell the government to go on a diet, get the hell out of our wallets!

  8. “We have something really nice for you in mahogany”. That is an all time classic line. Keep it up FFFF! Best written blog anywhere.

  9. The Orange County Cemetery District Board of Trustees did not extend its contract with Pringle & Associates at its January 4, 2011 meeting because no additional consultant services are required for District projects at this time. During its consulting contact with the District, Pringle & Associates identified and coordinated property owner
discussions on a number of properties considered for potential cemetery expansion. In addition, they developed
a public relation plan for the district that can be implemented by District staff.

    Leslie A. Keane, Chair
    Board of Trustee
    Orange County Cemetery District

  10. Ms. Keane, thanks for visiting.

I am heartened that the District is no longer expending public funds to a political glad-hander.

The sad truth is that the District spent over $100,000 over a couple of years (on a task a commercial broker would have done for free) and has nothing to show for it.

Reading your agenda mateials I see that Pringle was bragging about setting you up with mid-level County bureaucrats.

    And that’s a damn shame.

P.S. I realize that Trustee decisions in the past were the result of actions that were not necessarily unanimous. I have talked to Cynthia Ward about this board’s current composition, and I expect to see a lot more accountability and transparency.

    Good luck!

  11. BREAKING NEWS:

Der Pringle was admitted into the emergency room at Anahiem Memorial tonight diagnosed with SEVERLY bruised testicles…….

Cunninghams tounge but be sharper and stronger than I thought!

This would have been believable, but Whitey would have gone to St. Jude or Hoag.
