Bent History Bullshit
Here’s an interesting bit from the “print edition” of the Fullerton Observer, proving that once again the Fullerton Klown Kar has no rearview mirror.

The subject is the reopening of the abandoned UP Park, and all you have to do is look at the photo op result to guess that a history re-write is in the works.

While we were basking in the Spring-like day, most of the USA was under an unrelenting, repressive assault by ice, snow, and freezing rain. All of the speakers took notice of who was in the audience, mainly the Fullerton residents who did not give up on the idea of a local park, rallying support for an incredible 20-plus years. Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk Silva recalled how she was on the City Council in 2004 when the idea of revitalizing Union Pacific Park was discussed. Persistence from Fullerton residents kept the idea alive, so keep that in mind.
There’s a who’s who of Fullerton libs who can’t seem to have their pictures taken often enough, especially over there on the far left – the tarnished antique Pilferin’ Paulette Chaffee, who did less than nothing to have the park reopened. But then again, neither did Vanessa Estrella, or Sharon Quirk, or Jesus Quirk-Silva.
And on the subject of Quirk and Quirk Silva, the reimagining of history is appalling. Quirk got on the City Council at the end of 2004 all right. But at that point the first Union Pacific Park was just completed – brand effing new. Her statement is obviously meant to ignore the long history of bureaucratic failure that led to toxic soil removal and closure of a third of the park, to finally fencing off the whole damn thing because of the hypes, borrachos and homeless campers.
But just as important as hiding ugly truth is promoting your own accomplishment – finally doing what was thought impossible – after a 20-year fight! And let’s not forget the other myth – the popular struggle from la communidad, all of it ginned up, when it existed at all, by patronizing gringos at the Center for Healthy Neighborhoods, etc.
The Big Q probably doesn’t want you to remember that she was on the Council for another 8 years after her mythical park revitalization “discussions” allegedly took place, and so if the park wasn’t “revitalized” under her careful stewardship, why not?
Then there’s her dopey, hare-brained husband, Jesus, who was on the council from 2016 through 2022. What was he doing to revitalize the park after it really was fenced off? Nada. That’s right fish farm fans. He and Ahmad Zahra, also mugging in the picture, were trying to illegally convert the parkland to an intrusive fenced off private event center. So much for “the community.” You couldn’t make this stuff up.

The Fullerton Observer sisters and these political types want us to forget the real history of the UP Park – a poisoned public nuisance created by and for City bureaucrats as a Redevelopment money plaything who’s history would be a civic shame, if anybody in City Hall had any shame.
Now maybe you think that this is all trivial, this whitewash of the past. Not so. The conditions which caused UP Park #1’s failure are still there, even as more millions are thrown at UP Park #2. No one is paying attention because nobody cares.
About 800. The collective IQ in that photo.
That’s the over for sure.
That park should have been decommissioned and sold for affordable housing. Nobody ever wanted a park there except Susan Hunt.
In a few years another fence will go up. Then in 2045 some other nitwits will cry about the underserved deserving a new park.
Wash, rinse, repeat.

It was your boys Fred, Dunlap and Whitaker who first demanded that the park be reopened – as an alternative to the idiotic trail to nowhere. Now we got stuck with BOTH boondoggles. Fullerton being Fullerton.
Not exactly “my” boys, although you make a very good point – pontification without considering ramification.
Not sure anyone would be bitching on this blog if the park were open and the trail closed. Don’t forget Bushala was on the commission for the park.
Poor Elijah, you don’t know the history of FFFFs coverage of the poison park. Type UP Park or Poison Park into the search box. You’ll discover dozens of posts going back years and years. Give it a try young bud. You might learn something.
That park should NEVER have been reopened.
He doesn’t want to learn anything. That’s why he goes to SCUF.
SCUF? I like it.
Doesn’t look like there were a lot of people there. The politicians probably outnumbered the park users.
Don’t look back. Something might be gaining on you.

In Fullerton your lies don’t even have to be good.
The “we’ve been waiting 20 years” BS was contrived by Zahra and the Kennedy sisters to make it look like the people in that little hood had been serially overlooked. The fact is nobody on Truslow asked for park #1 and when it became an attractive nuisance they wanted it closed.
BTW, when he defended his private events center idea, Zahra claimed it would revitalize the neighborhood. Same crapola they were using on the Trail to Nowhere. In the minds of Fullerton Boohoo spending money on something will inevitably improvement, when often, as in the case of UP Park #1, #2 and the Trail to Nowhere it’s just throwing money away.
The Zahra punching bag is at end of life. Who will be the next FFFF demon with a bullseye on their back?
Charles deserves some fun. But the next Zahra should really be the target…maybe one of those losers in the group photo.
Correct. This Vanessa Estrella was pulled from obscurity by Sharon Quirk because she was mad at the incumbent. I can’t see her being as phony and obnoxious as Zahra or Charles, but why gamble?
It will be Shana Charles, that’s who. And whatever drone the Quirk and Quirk-Silva gang dredge up to run for Zahra’s empty and smelly chair.
Not a lot of faith in Oscar, huh?
Well you can pray to God for a win but you still have to block your man.
You make it sound like using Zahra as a punching bag is a bad thing.
Punching bags can’t punch back.
Zahra’s done a lot of punching back – but he’s a real featherweight fighting out of his class. All he has is a puny left jab that is annoying but couldn’t win any of his fights.
This article is more of a reverse “whitewash.” As in, all the problems the park had due to the toxins discovered were fixed long ago and now the park is reopened the trail extended.
But somehow you’re demanding the public not care that the problems were fixed.
Move on. You’re trying to extend some sort of taint over the park that isn’t real.
You didn’t read the post did you? Quirk says the park needed to be re-opened in 2004. When it was brand new. Neither she nor her dim-witted hubby did anything to open the park. In fact hubby tried to convert it to a private events facility. You left out that part, right.
The toxic soil only closed 1/3 of the park. Sure it was remediated, but the rest was left open to the public for over ten years and gathered Fullerton’s worst. The City Manager finally put a fence around the whole thing in the mid Teens.
Taint? Your brain is tainted. I recommend going back to school. Or something. You can’t read, or refuse to acknowledge plain English. You are even worse than the Kennedy sisters. Well really exactly the same. In 2045 some other idiots will be clamoring to re-open the long-closed park – closed since 2031. You will probably be one of them.
Moron.
Is there any hope for Fullerton? Or is it destined to be a forever shit box?
“You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to swim.”
What happened to the gardening boxes built during the last photo-op there?
Did they reappear?

The Sharon Sister is still trying to figure out how to get from Trail to Nowhere Phase 1 to Phase 2.
