Norby Website Up; Fundraising Success Seems To Be Main Thrust

Does the outfit come with the job?

Chris Norby’s campaign for County Clerk has a website: http://www.norby10.com/ . When you go there you see a lot about how much money he’s raised and lots of pictures of Chris, but virtually nothing about ideas or plans on how to run the department – just lots of platitudes about accountability, etc. One “idea” actually talks about getting other counties to follow the “OC model.” Isn’t that the job of their county clerks?

He also addresses Tom Daly’s campaign for supervisor as a foregone conclusion, and we’re not too sure about that click here .

The image on the website of Chris superimposed on the Old Courthouse may not be a hot idea since it might tend to keep some old jokes about Norby sleeping there going.

OCCampground
"Preserving Your Vital Records?!!" Wow, throw 'em some more red meat, Chris!

Anyway, check it out for yourselves. We have sometimes supported Chris in the past, but this campaign is becoming a bit problematic. The website does not allay any of the suspicions raised by commenters on our last post that Chris is just running for this because he needs a government job click here. It is apparent that Norby is running this campaign as an “insider,” and that doesn’t bode well, either.

  1. That whole money thing is Lewis all over. As a lobbyist that’s all he cares about. And so he sells his candidate not on his ability, but his ability to raise money. And that’s what appeals to other lobbyists too. It’s really kind of disturbing.

  2. Chris,

I’ve always been a supporter but no thanks this time. Your experience has nothing to do with being Clerk/Recorder. One can only assume that you are running to get a paycheck regardless of the job itself.

The fact that this John Lewis guy is trying to manipulate the system using you as part of his scheme sickens me.

  3. Willis, it’s even worse than that. The obvious implication of the fundraising prowess is that he’s using the last year of his supervisor’s term to milk all of Lewises co-lobbyists.

That’s exactly what they are doing, of course, but there’s no point in advertising it.

  4. That hand belongs to Norby’s wife, Marsha. She was standing beside him playing Martha.

    1. Then it was a well-kept secret. More cracker jack work by John Lewis. I hope Chris isn’t paying him too much.

  5. I hear that some heavy IE stuff is lining up against Daly for Supervisor; and pro Daly for Clerk.

Tom will see which way the wind is blowing and stay where he is. Safe seat for life.

  6. I think Norby and Daly are both idiots!

Did they think they can just switch positions and no one will challenge them?

Daly openning an office in Fullerton is a waste of taxpayers money.

Orange County taxpayers should not vote for Daly or Norby!

    1. Good question. The evident cynicism of opening an office in the seventh year of your term as Clerk in a city in which you need to raise your visibility for a Supervisor campaign, may actually obscure the fact that this is a good deal for the taxpayers.

  7. No, but I’m a citizen of Fullerton and like that I don’t have to drive into Santa Ana, find expensive parking, hike 10 miles to find the Recorder, wait in a line with 80 other people and waste my day.

Not to mention that we have daily weddings in Downtown Fullerton which will bring business to our already struggling daytime business.

I’m sure you could argue the political issues, but I think it is a great idea to have an office in North, Central and South OC.

And, no, I don’t own that, or any other commercial building in Fullerton. And, no, I’m not “kidding”.

  8. Yeah, Jack. Sure. Whatever. How many time have you had to go to visit the clerk’s office in SA? Once? Twice. You hiked “10 miles”? Really?

Sure its convenient for you. That’s not the issue. The isse is whether it was (and is) a good use of the Clerk’s budget.

You sure sound like a downtown building/business owner, and if so you might get some benefit from those weddings but why should a taxpayer in Stanton or Seal Beach or HB pay for it?

    1. I may go many times a month. You, on the other hand, probably only deal with them a few times in your life. Remember, there are many people out there DIFFERENT THAN YOU and many people utilize the recorder weekly and some, daily.

      Team Jack :
You sure sound like a downtown building/business owner, and if so you might get some benefit from those weddings but why should a taxpayer in Stanton or Seal Beach or HB pay for it?

Why should I pay for the Sheriff patrolling in unincorporated areas? Why should I pay for the Recorder in Laguna Nigel? Why should I pay for beaches that I don’t use? Come on, Team Jack. You argue like a 6 grader. We all pay. Duh!

Oh, and thank you for joining my Team!

      1. Jack, you shouldn’t have to pay for the Sheriif patrolling unincorporated areas. Aren’t those services added as surcharges to the unicorporated areas property tax? In any case those areas should be annexed so you wouldn’t evewn have to worry about it. You park at the beach, right Jack? That ain’t free.

And there should’t be a Recorder in Laguna Niguel, either, that I can see, and no I don’t wan’t to pay for it.

WTF? Does Daly buy you drinks after work?

        1. Daly’s A Hack Politician :

Are you kidding me? “surcharges to the unicorporated (sic) areas property tax”. What kind of tax revenue is there on unimproved open space?? Oh, and now you want to dictate to City’s what they should or should not annex? If that was happening in Fullerton, you would be the first to cry foul! It’s funny how you have the drive to post here about someone spending your money to open an office (one of three, mind you) while stating that we should dictate how other City’s use their revenue to force annexation. Wow… just, wow!

Do REALLY think parking fees pay for all beach management and maintenance? REALLY?

I’d have a drink with Daly… never met the man, but I wouldn’t turn down a free cocktail.

          1. Unimproved open space? What are YOU talling about. I’m talking about Rossmoor, Sunset Beach, Midway City, Olive, North Tustin, Easside Costa Mesa, Ladera Ranch, etc. etc.. Should I go on?

Annexation is negotiated – nobody is forced and the costs are transfered. Jack – you really are a Daly lackey! And something tells me that you’re the one buying the drinks!

      2. Say, Jack if you go to the Clerk’s office so often you would know when to go, and where park!

And you’re right I, like most people never go there ayt all. So why should we subsidize your walk across the street?

        1. That is where you are nearsighted. It is not subsidizing my walk across the street, it is for ALL citizens of the County to utilize. There are many more people than you and me in North OC. Take a look around.

  9. All of you need some sense slapped in to you. Orange County only needed one office for a recorder for over one hundred years. Now, in the era of filing your taxes via the internet, we need a physical office in North County?

The only people that do not understand how this is a waste of taxpayer money seem to be Chris Norby, Tom Daly, Pam Kellar and the guy that is receiving rent from the county every month for this space.
