Zahra Voted To Double Les Amis Rent

The past can be so embarrassing…

Back in June, 2022 the Fullerton City Council voted to raise rents on public property in downtown Fullerton. These spaces are used by adjacent restaurants as outdoor patios. One of the the “yes” votes was none other than “Doctor” Ahmad Zahra, the Damascene Dissimulator.

Zahra-Busted
Time to come clean…..

The rent increases were big, almost doubling the cost to restaurant tenants. Here’s the old and the approved rates, and the incremental difference, from the June 21, 2022 agenda item:

The resolution to establish the new rate structure passed on a 3-1 vote. And Zahra, one of the three votes is now the self-styled “pro-small business” councilman, and is regarded as one of the ringmasters of the Poor Les Amis Club.

Les Amis, you ask? Yes, the restaurant that went years without paying rent and illegally occupied public property, and that recently had its patio stuff removed from public property at public expense.

Yard sale in progress…

A cynic might argue that the big rent increase meant nothing to the rent dodgers at Les Amis since they weren’t going to pay their rent anyhow – just like they been stalling the City for years. Neither Jinan Montecristo, owner of Les Amis, nor her youthful cub, Oliver, even showed up to complain about the new fees.

Here’s the point of this story: this rent increase is now being used by Les Amis and its loyal amis to justify the Montecristos not paying anything in rent for years, even at the old rates, and of squatting on public property without permits or agreements.

Giving truth the middle finger…

I know! Let’s let the harpy-like elder Kennedy Sister, Sharon, another sudden small business sword and shield, share the strategy in a comment on the Fullerton Observer blog:

Sharon K

Why was Les Amis patio torn down by the city before the public meeting scheduled for Dec 2 at which the fairness of outdoor dining fees will be discussed? What was the urgency? Who directed that to happen?

Asking an unintelligent question is an excellent way of avoiding an intelligent answer, especially on a blog where rejection and censorship of truth-tellers eliminates the embarrassing predicament of honest correction.

I wonder how they’ll feel when they learn the that the huge amount of back rent incurred by The Noaccounts of Montecristo is based on the action of their hero, Ahmad Zahra,

  1. This is such a dumb blog post. Fred “I’m going to bring business back to Fullerton” Jung cancelled numerous meetings due to “nothing of note” being discussed, despite telling Les Amis he would review the rates.

This blog is such a joke that they say nothing about Tony’s FREE patio that is NOT open to the public.

It’s clear you are obsessed with destroying Fullerton’s small businesses for one man’s benefit. Hopefully that man will throw a few pennies your way one day

    1. Stupid comment of the day award here.
You are literally here standing up for what equates to equating.
      Congratulations

    2. Keep pitching that line. They paid no rent at all for years.

Crying about unfair rates won’t bring back les Amis’ potted plants and chairs.

As to the rates, go ask Zahra why he is so anti-small business.

    3. Oliver Montecristo, isn’t it milk and cookie time for you? Then story time and nap pal. How about you get a real job. Something that isn’t “intern” for Sharon Quirk. Then maybe what you have to say about small business has some merit.

  2. I posted a comment on the Observer about this, it was not approved per the norm when it is something that makes them look bad.
They did let one of mine fly the other day, which I thought was odd as it directly called out the older sister for her continued outbursts at council meetings.
    Go figure.

    1. You can’t comment there unless you’ve taken a deep swig of Boohoo Kool Aid. All comments to the contrary are screened out. Some are just banned completely.

It’s so much easier than spending all that energy ignoring the truth and spinning fairy tales.

  3. Ahmad Zahra’s actions regarding Les Amis serve as a glaring example of political hypocrisy. In 2022, he voted to double the rent rates for the restaurant’s lease, a decision that has significantly contributed to their financial struggles. This move was a stark contrast to his recent public expressions of concern for the restaurant, where he claims they need help and support. This discrepancy between his actions and words exemplifies the classic case of saying one thing and doing another.

This blogs outrage over this hypocrisy is justified. Leaders must be held accountable, especially when their actions directly impact the livelihoods of their constituents. Zahra’s actions have not only hurt Les Amis but have also raised questions about his integrity and commitment to the community. His political maneuvers often backfire, revealing his true nature as a fraud. Many believe that within a year, Fullerton will return to having a city council that leads with integrity rather than engaging in political games that undermine the trust of its residents.

    1. Wrong. They would not have paid the city rent regardless of what the amount was. Remember, Les Amis had fundraisers for all the DPOC’s political elite. How did that work out for the restaurant?

      1. Correct. As the author points out. A rate increase was a matter of indifference to Jinan and young Oliver. They weren’t going to pay anyhow.

  4. Fullerton Boohoo wants all past sins forgiven using the “unfair” rates as an excuse. But others are renting exclusive restaurant extensions and are paying.

    Bad Amis. Bad, bad Amis.

  5. Observer has some pretty damning texts between the CM and Valencia.
    Embarrassing actually.
I know she is the little darling here, but I call it as I see it and she should resign.
    Not fit for service.

    1. Those texts weren’t damning. She wanted to clarify that she didn’t want to spend public money. That wasn’t in the motion, true, so there was a lapse in judgment. Resign? What for?

      1. Damning in the sense that she may be incapable of serving due to an IQ deficiency.
You know damn well. You pay attention. I know there will be little support here, but I would actually like to see some things get done in this district. Not going to happen with someone who could care less if they were there or not.

        1. I agree. She needs to get out and wander around the district. Let’s take the idiot idea of curbs and sidewalk on Page Ave. Nobody want this except that decrepit, orange dyed hair fool who calls himself Z.

            1. We have more important things to
              spend taxpayer money on.
              Streets and streetlights for starters.
From the looks of that street on Page, the hazard to folks would be tripping in a pot hole. Do a lot of people use that street to get to the school by walking? Lots of other cities around SoCal have the same including more in Fullerton up in the hills off Euclid. Don’t hear anyone complaining about those streets. Must just be poor kids who struggle without sidewalks.
Look, in a perfect world the city wouldn’t be broke and we could afford to do a lot of things. Here in Fullerton we give things away for pennies and waste more money on bonehead stuff.
This city should have the equipment and folks to do the streets and sidewalks ourselves.

              1. I can guarantee the people on that strip LIKE not having curbs and sidewalks. Evidently Zahra is pushing this although it not in his district. It must be stupid. Maybe he’s just trying to the stumblebum “Z” on the I hate Jung Reservation.

              2. “This city should have the equipment and folks to do the streets and sidewalks ourselves.”

You really believe that? You can get JOC prices for curb/gutter flatwork from contractors. Yeah you have to pay prevailing wages but that beats pension obligation.

    1. Next council meeting, Zahra will say, “When I look at what’s happened, my heart breaks. This isn’t who we are as a city. We must do better for our small businesses.” His classic oscar bait speech. Cue the glasses routine, dramatic pauses and quivering voice.

    1. He believes every word spoken by the squatters and rent dodgers. Sort of like Sharon Kennedy on Cannabis Kitty: “she doesn’t lie.”
