Jazz Fest Fullerton Success

Well, I missed the “1st Annual Fullerton Jazz Fest” completely.

A couple weeks ago Pilgrim’s Coffeehouse put on an evening of jazz acts in the legendary Maverick Theater space. It looks to have been a trial run for future jazz events of which a follow-up summer event is in the works.

A limited 80 tickets were sold (the main theater maximum occupancy) showing that there is certainly interest in this sort of thing.

Calling anything “1st Annual” always seems optimistic to me, but in this case the successful event does suggest there will be more. So good for Pilgrim’s Coffeehouse and the Maverick Theater.

  1. Wish you’d advertised it before it sold out, Fran and I would’ve been front row, no question.

We were literally just talking about how we miss being out at live shows. Steamers was our jam back in the day, we still talk about those nights. We miss that vibe, that energy, that place.

The Maverick? It’s got that same magic…intimate, historic, oozing with theatrical soul. You can feel the ghosts of great theatrical performances inside those walls.

Hope they bring the Jazz Fest back next year, and next time, give us a heads-up. We’ll be there with our Mardi Gras beads on. Congrats to Pilgram’s Coffeehouse for taking this on. Never been there yet, but will try it soon.

    1. I found out about this – by accident – the other day. They didn’t do much promoting because the space is so small. 80 people and they sold 80 tickets.

I was told by an informed source that a summer show might be in the works. FFFF will let you know if I can find out any details.

Steamers was great. Grown up entertainment in DTF.

  2. There’s something going on tomorrow the 14th at some bar near Yorba Linda Blvd and Imperial, starting at 1:00.
