Shana’s Journey Continues
Shana Charles, Fullerton D3’s councilperson and ceaseless gas bag is running for re-election. She threw a kickoff party a few days ago.
The usual suspects appeared. The same suspects, in fact, who tried real hard to get Cannabis Kitty Jaramillo elected and failed.
In fact some folks are speculating about the role of Dr. Shana’s husband, Andre, in recruiting the phony candidate and perjurer, Scott Markowitz last year. Mr. Charles got a nifty $4000 from the marijuana lobby to do something for them working on the failed Jaramillo effort.
When she was elected in 2022 she squeaked by in a three-way race with the help of the emergency services union. Will they help her again? They love front runners and incumbents although they did supported Jamie Valencia over the OCDEM darling Cannabis Kitty.
I have to wonder what her goal is, besides getting sycophants to call her “Dr. Charles.” Even if her pal Ahmad Zahra sticks around and somehow wins re-election, she’ll be a minority player – again – at least for 2 years, unless Mayor Fred Jung wins the County Supervisor election and a replacement is needed at the start of 2027. An appointment or election is not likely to provide a third vote.
I’ve gotten used to Charles’ endless bloviation, bragging and idiotic observations. But on the bright side she hasn’t been able to do any permanent damage – yet.

AND ILLUMINATION FOUNDATION FOR THE OPERATION OF A NAVIGATION CENTER AT
3535 WEST COMMONWEALTH AVENUE, FULLERTON, CA • MARCH 2024
RECITALS
A. CONTRACTOR leases a building at 3535 West Commonwealth Avenue in Fullerton, California (the “Facility”) to provide for one-hundred ten (110) beds for recuperative care (“RC Center”) and forty (40) emergency shelter beds (“Navigation Center”) for homeless persons in Orange County pursuant to a Lease dated February 27, 2020.
C. FULLERTON has determined that an urgent need exists to provide a temporary, low barrier emergency homeless shelter in the City of Fullerton and desires to work with Illumination Foundation at the Facility to administer, operate, and guarantee availability of 40 shelter beds in the Navigation Center effective May l, 2024, for individuals referred to the shelter by the City of Fullerton Homeless Outreach Team or City staff.
D. FULLERTON is in the process, or has acquired the Facility, and upon acquisition will assume all rights and obligation as Landlord under the Lease.
3. COMPENSATION
a. FULLERTON shall pay CONTRACTOR a monthly fee based on a Daily Rate of $80.00 per day per bed for exclusive use of the 40 Navigation Center beds.

Shayna Charles made a terrible decision by voting to sell 2 acres of prime downtown Fullerton land for just $900,000 net, which is a massive undervaluation. An acre in that area is worth $4.5 million, making this a $8.1 million giveaway. Her lack of judgment, along with Zahra and Bruce Whitacre’s, is shocking. Who would vote for someone who shows such poor business sense and understanding of real estate value? This is a major red flag for any halfway intelligent voter.
It’s more than that, Mr. Ng. Those three up-zoned the hell out of it first.
Sheena, Queen of the Bungle said the project would be good for the “urban forest.” I kid you not.
And they sold it to the grifter, Johnny Lu.
She loves to giveaway public land for a never going to be built fantasy motel, but has issues with the city leasing land to Tony.
