101 Replies to “Failing Up”

  1. This article is spot on. You need 3 internal candidates otherwise the position needs to be opened up for outside candidates. Ask Dan why I’ve been paid 93k so far to stay hm? Ask him why he took a cop off the streets bcuz he couldn’t take criticism? Ask him why he covered up the Veth case? Ask him why he did the IA interviews but when the shit hit the fan he had Schoen re do the interviews so as to not have his name associated? Ask him why he’s covering up his crony narc sgt after recently being caught lying? Ask him why he promised Wren he had a job after pleading guilty to false imprisonment? Ask him why he then promoted Wren and put him in the gang detail? Ask him about his education and why his BA and masters degree were both earned within two years at Sellers weekend crash course? Ask him why his gun was stolen from his car in brea but he never reported it and sought the suspect on his own? Once the suspect was caught he had the suspect arrested 3 times for the same offense? Ask him why the night of July 5th he huddled all the officers around and first said, “everyone have their DAR’s off” then went on to say “good job”……. Please be my voice tonight bcuz I’m not allowed to be on city property.. MY PROMISE TO ALL OF YOU IS THAT I WILL UTTER THESE SAME QUESTIONS TO HIS FACE AS SOON AS IM ABLE TO AT FUTURE COUNCIL MEETINGS!!!

    1. Is that 3 reasonably qualified candidates? Or can thaey have Hughes and 2 patrolmen or sgts apply and be considered legit.?

    2. This article is spot on. You need 3 internal candidates otherwise the position needs to be opened up for outside candidates.

      – Ask Dan why I’ve been paid 93k so far to stay him?

Please be my voice tonight because I’m not allowed to be on city property.. MY PROMISE TO ALL OF YOU IS THAT I WILL UTTER THESE SAME QUESTIONS TO HIS FACE AS SOON AS IM ABLE TO AT FUTURE COUNCIL MEETINGS!!!

Note: I cleaned up Ben’s post so it can be easier to print for tonight’s meeting. All great points and excellent questions.

    3. thankyou . Its about time to clean house. looking forward to the council meeting . Thank you for stepping forward and bringing transparency. Its the first step to healing our city.

    1. Felz will do what is right for the good people of fullerton because he advanced from managing Fullerton’s parks and recreations to Fullerton city manager. Fullerton’s municipal government seems to scream cronysim.

  2. Ryan thank you for such a great article.

Everyone should know that tonight’s city council chamber will probably be jammed back with police officers, their family and friends all there to support Dan Hughes.

Therefore, it is imperative that every person who agrees with Ryan’s article must show up tonight and be ready to stand up for good governance!

Let us use our persuasive words to convince at least one of the 3 likely yes votes for Dan to reconsider their vote!

  3. It should also be crystal clear that all the allegations presented by Ben Lira must be addressed in a public forum by Dan Hughes before any consideration should be given to him for our top law enforcement officer job.

If he is innocent of most or all of the allegations he should want to respond to each and every one of the charges made against him.

    1. “created for our Ryan Cantor by our Greg Diamond – HAHA!”……… Hmmmmm

Created?… I believe that you meant to say stolen or plagiarized.

If it would you Vern the Felon and Greg the Tatar reposting this article in the OJB from the “F”FFF it would be gravely edited and pictures would be nothing short of the smut.

Pray to the GOD you bolshevik Felon that there is still a glimmer of a decency here in the “F”FFF…….. learn!

        1. FYI Gröfaz, it is too late to pray to the GOD because the GOD does not hear the Felons until they fully repent.

However, you can pray to your mentor Satan in the meanwhile.

      1. That’s an original piece of artwork, Fiala. A derivative work, if you will.

I may not agree with Ryan here, but when one of our writers needs artwork I try to oblige as best I can.

            1. I can live with being label as “Smart Ass”.

However, it would be detrimental to my ego to be labeled as gravely IQ deficient as you are virtually in any blog you comment and post in, and virtually in any court where you submit your papers and make your oral arguments.

                1. Please notice Onanymos that the intellect and intelligence are mutually exclusive terms.

While you can acquire additional intellect by educating yourself you can’t acquire any additional intelligence quotient.

Therefore, if you are genetically born moron mongoloid and get law school degree by way of the affirmative action, you are same moron mongoloid but educated one.

  4. I’m not allowed on city property until the 28th. At least have them table it until after the year and I’ll ask him myself.

    Also,

    – ask him why he told Mater just resign and He won’t present to DA?

-ask him if he initiated the contact with Clarke then had Hampton cover it up in a police report? Hence no discipline for hampton.

-ask him if in the weeks following July 5th they ALL met in Goodrich’s office and came up with a plan to put Sellers on medical leave and With McKinleys blessing appoint Hamilton. Hamilton who is married to McKinleys former friend/captains daughter?

-ask him why when two detectives reported an officer lying on a report and the DA assigned to this unit concurred and the only thing Hughes did was kick out the two detectives to patrol for reporting it and transfer the DA?

-ask him about the negative impact of comm stats?

–ask him why in the world would he order people be cited for honking?

–ask him why in the world would he promote Goodrich and Cheblowski when there were other more qualified candidates with no involvement on July 5th?

-ask him why I reported two officers drinking during training on the homeless they replied,”it was his unpaid lunch” as though returning 30 min later to work under the influence made a difference.

  5. Call Detective Coffman right now at his desk, 714-738-5361 and tell him to get back to work bcuz he’s on a mission calling/texting/emailing everyone right now to show up tonight!

  6. – ask him why he told Mater just resign and He won’t present to DA?

Standard stuff when an employee gets Skelly notice. The Skelly outlines the case against the employee, then the employee gets offered the option of resigning for personal reasons with a negotiated period of paid administrative leave.

  7. Wouldn’t it be funny if Mayor Whitaker requested that the Acting Chief get some uniformed cops in the chamber to shut down his own misbehavin’ boys?

    1. Tragedy in Newton: How to Respond to Mental Illness

Continuing our special coverage of the tragedy in Newton, Conn., “SoCal Connected” shares the latest on the school shootings. 8. What do you mean “you are not allowed”?

Trust me, bro, you are so far in the City Employee mindset that limiting your attendance at a public government meeting actually makes sense to you.

You are “allowed on City property”! We all give you permission (like you need it in the first place).

    Come down, Ben….

  9. Hopefully the council will hold off on letting Danny boy be permanent chief. May the BNSF engine flatten his chances.

  10. If the new council gives the job to Hughes without making him apply for the job along with outside applicants, it is what the voters of Fullerton asked for. By 29 votes.

    1. The Resolution indicating policy must first be voted out by the Three Danny Lovers. If not they will reveal that thiy recruitment policy means nothing and that they may arbitrarily decide when it does and doesn’t apply.

What a great message of lawlessness it sends. Oh wait. FPD got that message years ago.

Go ahead and hire him. Then wait for the depositions and see how that works out for ya!

    2. Yes they did! 29 or 1 doesn’t matter your idiotic husband lost! Oh now you lost your PERs pension, health care, all the things your moron husband hated but yet took them himself!!! That is why he is no longer relevant!! Good riddance!!

    3. Absolutely correct!

Both are exactly what the majority wanted, Jan Flory on City Council and Dan Hughes as Chief of FPD.

      1. As Fullerton’s Liver, you obviously are working overtime during the holidays here in Fullerton’s downtown drinking district, and didn’t have time to peruse this article about how the election in November for the City Council seat was “fixed” by silencing the one honest police officer in Fullerton until the election was over, and Jan Flory had spent $50,000.00 of the Fullerton Police Officer’s Association monies that they had contributed to Jan Flory’s election.

Good luck getting through New Year’s!

          1. In other words, “If the refs hadn’t blown that call, our team would have won!” That’s what losers always cry after they’ve lost and refuse to believe the numbers on scoreboard.

You’re like Karl Rove on FOX News scribbling on his notepad and arguing that Romney can win an hour after his own network conceded defeat.

Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic. Man up and take the loss, please.

            1. I realize that your vision and/or thought process is severely clouded/eroded by the internal fermentation/filtration process that a Fullerton liver must be subjected to, so maybe you won’t be offended if I ask you why the City Manager kept this Fullerton police officer of 17 years allegations of corruption and mis-management away from the public view until after the November election?

I’m hoping that your not so blind that you didn’t notice that the e-mail that the officer sent to the City Manager Joe Felz, was first sent in July of 2012?

This was a full four months of non-disclosure by the City Manager before the election in November?

              Coincidence?

  11. “I picked up a post from The Fullerton Observer on Facebook earlier this week, which announced that the Fullerton City Council would, once again, consider entering into negotiations with Dan Hughes for the position of Chief of Police.”
“Fullerton Observer” where Rusty Kennedy, colleague of retired Fullerton Police Chief Pat McKinley, is brother to editor of “Fullerton Observer” Sharon Kennedy.
Now, I wonder why the “Fullerton Observer” would be privy to the machinations of Fullerton PD and Fullerton’s city council?

  12. Isn’t my cow a beautiful one? That moo really knows how to shoot from her udder. Too bad my bad boy is to small to fill that mouth because she keeps embarrassing me at the council meeting. Lay off the pipe sweetie.

  13. Flory is lying. The PAC is essentially the FPOA. PAC stands for political action committee. Officers can opt out of PAC but not the FPOA. Most of us did opt out especially when they endorsed McKinley, jones and Bankhead. And when the PAC runs low on $ where do you think the money is transferred from? Yup, the FPOA! The PAC is deducted from our paychecks(not mine) directly from the city. Talk about conflict of interest

    1. Benjamin, are you saying that being a part of the FPOA is not an option? Is that true? Cops don’t have the option? I don’t think that is true. Please explain.

        1. FPOA/LDF provides legal coverage. It’s like driving a car with no car insurance and hoping you never have a car accident.

        2. Peaches, Benjamin did not say there was peer pressure. He said Officers can not opt out of FPOA. That’s different than opting out.

      1. Maybe you should read the bi-laws of the FPOA before you call Ben a liar.

Many police unions have a clause, some do not that you’ll be part of the union like it or not.

Remember a few months ago there was an iniative on the ballot to stop UNIONS from taking money from employees wages for PAC funding?

        It failed of course.

  14. If the Council appoints Hughes after all that we KNOW from the past Fullerton is a joke. Sorry folks. Just telling you the truth. Good luck.

  15. Barry, please stop talking, you are an idiot. I could not stop laughing when Chaffee said he heard reports that Barry was disruptive at committee meetings. I might start going to those meetings to remind him what a clown he is.

  16. Obviously, somebody is editing this “free speech” blog.

    M. Carillo on the library board? Can she even read? I believe that is cronyism at its best.

    1. I have personally witnessed her smoking bowls next to the Fullerton Police Department parking lot. Don’t worry, she will get caught. It’s a matter of time before her true colors come out.

  17. And also lets not foget, that danny boy has been number two in command over all of the sick fick cops that have done horrible things over and over again.

Oh and also dont forget that dan hughs was promoted by satanic mckinly and coward sellers. So I doubt either of those two would promote anyone with a rightious bone in their body.
Fpd has been into sexual assaults, false imprisonments, beatings, thefts, harrasments, and murders in the most brutal means posssible. And who was the senior officer, the second im command for years? Yep good boy danny, thats who. Dont be fooled, we need new blood as chief.

  18. If City Council enters negotiations with Hughes with the knowledge that Hughes engaged in alleged misconduct – some of which may be actually crimminal — then they would be breaching their fiduciary duty, engaging in possible fraud and each could be subject to personal liability, piercing any protection afforded them.

  19. Congratulations Fullerton. You have sold yourselves out to violent, oppressive pigs. You organized yourselves enough to oust the 3 old crooks, but turn right around and elect the likes of Chaffee and Flory. All of your protests, rally’s, concerts and virtual chest-thumping here do not mean shit if Hughes is promoted. But hey, you exercised your right to vote (or your right no to) and you will get what you have chosen and will pay the price.

I have lived in and next to Fullerton my entire life (half a century!). I attended college there. I’m still in the neighborhood, but I no longer visit Fullerton. My last visit was attending a dying protest. I have since decided that it is not safe to be within the jurisdiction of FPD. No more Steamers. No more Angelo’s & Vinci’s. I was hoping for change in a city I have loved my whole life. It was up to you, Fullerton. You had the chance and you dropped the ball. You must be stupid.

      1. And you can have your fucked up city where the city government & police suck your blood and beat, rob, rape & murder you and your neighbors jackass! Enjoy!

  20. FLory issuing “You got your Xmas present” — absolutely inappropriate and prejudicial. Negotiations need to be just that – negotiations given the current market climate – not rubber stamped deal and free-ticket. FLory and Fitzgerald are cowards, lack the moral, ethical fortitude to put the citizens interests before those interests of the public safety workers who supported their campaigns. It’ll cost them more in future lawsuits and settlements than any oversight committee budget. Chaffee? Fist pumping? What an embarassement and unprofessional. He’s a joke. Don’t even take him seriously.

  21. CONGRATULATIONS TO “CHIEF” DAN HUGHES. YOU ARE THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB. ONE WHO CAN AND WILL RID THIS CITY OF BAD PEOPLE, WHICH INCLUDES MANY WHO POST ON THIS BLOG. KISS YOUR ASSES GOODBYE BAD PEOPLE!

    1. DAN IS OUR MAN! OUR CITY IS BEGINNING ITS HEALING PROCESS AND WITH DAN AT THE HELM, I AM CONFIDENT THAT IT WILL BE A PAINLESS PROCESS. WE LOVE YOU DAN. I TALKED TO YOU AND YOU LISTENED. GOT STUFF DONE AND STUFF. I HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE IN HIM. HE IS THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB. I TALKED TO HIM AND HE LISTENED. I DID A RIDE ALONG. I WAS IMPRESSED. TODAY WILL BE A BRIGHTER DAY WITH CHIEF DAN!

      1. You sound like a crook who is waiting in the back of the bus for a piece of pie.

WOW you talked to him, did a ride along and now your in the KNOW.

        What an idiot!!!

      2. He listens to you cause he has no choice. Do you think after being accused of corruption he is going to be an asshole. No sire..He is going to be as sweet as pie and he will go out of his way to make himself look good. Yes he did tell the Fullerton six they did a good job the night of July 5 and they had nothing to worry about. Things go sideways and he has no problem throwing the first three under the bus…Hail to the new chief…PATHETIC!!

      3. Chief Danny told me everything was okay and that I should look the other way – the same way Flurry and FitzFlory and McChaffee are looking!

  22. Entering into negotiations without these alleged pattern of misconduct being thoroughly investigated would be breach of fiduciary duty. Felz concealment of material as serious in nature as those levied against Hughes would constitute obstruction and the city council members could be subject to being party to a fraud on the citizens. In light of these recent charges, Hughes needs to disclose a formal response to each of them by way of a declaration and also sign a 1542 release which needs to be attached as exhibits to any employment contract. IN otherwords, it’s like a school knowing that a prospective teacher has allegations of child porn or abuse, but the school district hires them anyways. Without the 1542, the district is exposed. If Flory, Fitzgerald and Chaffee are so intent to hire Hughes, let the exposure fall on their shoulders and pocket books. And then see if they are so quick to ratify his employment contract.

  23. Dark days a head for Fullerton once again. The FPD has shown clearly, it has no intentions of cleaning itself up. And with a couple of sea hags and Doug (Chapstick) Chaffee we are all right back where it all started. FPOA is giggling at all of it. Dan Hughes smiles to your face just before he stabs you in the back!

          1. You’re so dumb, Stanley. Ryan’s stories oppose the hiring of Dan Hughes the way it was done, and in the election he opposed Jan Flory – for good reasons we can see now. Diamond backed Flory and doesn’t seem to see any problem with how Hughes is being hired … although he may be having some second thoughts now that he sees the majority he backed is putting off a civilian review commission till around the time the Anaheim council majority willingly embraces district elections.

All too complicated for you, I know, nutjob.

                1. Wow — what a great segue!

I just settled a case, picked up two other clients, and have two beyond that in the pipeline. So: no, no second thoughts — or first ones..

  24. “Ryan’s stories oppose the hiring of Dan Hughes”………. Hmmmmm

    Aha!

    I got it now!

I thought that Ryan was doing promotion for new Fullerton night club.

He threw me off with his democracy introductory crapola which reminded me your Egyptian pro democracy rally last year where you have been soliciting the beer.

“The Democracy Starts Now” — click on my name.

    Really?

Same like in Fullerton the Egyptians elected worse tyranny that they had before the democracy.

But you wouldn’t listen to me Gröfaz.

The best part of the Obama democracy is still coming.

  25. Dr. Seuss :Obviously, somebody is editing this “free speech” blog.
    M. Carillo on the library board? Can she even read? I believe that is cronyism at its best.

wow, shoulda been down here when she helps the homeless, a veteran, your gonna trash a veteran. I wonder if you know about the Hunt library and what it means to the homeless? Someone who is aware of homeless issues, and on the library board where all the homeless go, shocker they actually did something right for once, and you want to trash it, my word are you stupid or just that self centered, I think she will do a great job at being an advocate for the homeless, thanks for volunteering. So say and do what you will, but I know it was correct, and seriously the first move fullerton has done to helping the homeless. Ask any homeless who helps them, it aint Pam Keller, and it aint any of these people, so you decide what important, human lives, or your fake bs on library board.

  26. The library board is not the forum for what you speak. If he wanted to have her help the homeless than come up with a homeless commitee and make her part of that. The library board is no place for her. I’m sure every other candidate for that position is FAR more qualified for that position than her. What the hell does she know about the library? Again cronyism at its best.

  27. Greg Diamond :
Wow — what a great segue!
I just settled a case, picked up two other clients, and have two beyond that in the pipeline. So: no, no second thoughts — or first ones..

    Sure you did.

    1. It has been reported to “SS” I mean social services, not to the Hitler, that you should be deported from the Food-stems and Unemployment programs now because your employment situation substantially improved.

      1. I’m not on unemployment and have never been on food stamps. You enjoyed that “SS” think a little too much, Stanley.

    2. You’re right — while it’s true, I can’t prove it. Oh, the burdens of confidentiality provisions. Oh well, think what you want, if you want, if you can.
