More Squeals From Goodrich

UPDATE: Here is Goodrich as reported by Brian Martinez at the Register:

Fullerton police Sgt. Andrew Goodrich said drivers have been holding down their horns continuously for a quarter-mile up and down Commonwealth and Highland. He said the department received numerous complaints from nearby residents, businesses and park-users about the excessive honking and other instances of disturbing the peace such as yelling at and approaching drivers who don’t honk their horns.

Another outright Goodrich lie to the stupid. A quarter mile? Lie. Highland has been blocked off. A quarter mile south would take you under the tracks and past Truslow. A quarter mile east or west on Commonwealth would take you Richman or Harbor, respectively. Of course the trough feeding media are too dumb to even question any of Goodrich’s claims and absurd statements. So we’ll do it for them.

According to Marisa Gerber at the OC Weekly Fullerton cops started handing out tickets to motorists who showed their support for today’s protest. Fortunately some concentrated verbal rebuke from the protesters directly in front of the FPD building resulted in the cops beating a hasty retreat.

Now, for fun, let’s listen in on Ms. Gerber’s conversation with the 2011 Dr. Josef Goebbels Award finalist, Andrew Goodrich, who is, miraculously, still employed by the FPD as a spokesman, and whose lies and quarter-truths are piling up so fast we need wings to stay above his torrent of bullshit:

“It’s not just the horn honking, but leaning on the horn,” says Sgt. Andrew Goodrich, spokesman for the Fullerton Police Department, about the people who were cited for “illegal use of horn.” The department issued three citations, one of which the captain voided, Goodrich says. 

Apparently Goodrich believes illegal use of horn merits paying a citation. Of course beating a man to death merits a paid vacation. Here’s more:

Goodrich says the police department has received “numerous complaints from residents and businesses” about the protesters in the past few weeks. The department received a complaint from one motorist who said their kids were frightened by a protester running in the streets.

Numerous? Really Andy? As numerous as the broken bones you claimed were suffered by the FPD killer cops in the “fight” you said they had with Kelly Thomas? I wonder if Kelly was as fearful of Goodrich’s fellow union members as those mythical “kids” were afraid of protesters running into the street. But Goodrich isn’t finished:

“The question was being asked of us why were allowing protesters to flagrantly violate the law,” Goodrich says, adding that the department has worked to give protesters some “latitude”. The police department contacted protest organizers last night, and again this morning, to ask for cooperation, he says.

“Flagrantly violate the law?” Is that phrase (coming from an FPD mouthpiece) supposed to be some kind of sick joke? Come on, Goodrich, who asked that question? Anybody? And were they at all concerned about FPD flagrantly violating the law by smashing a homeless man’s face in, killing him in the process? What’s that, Andy? Not flagrant enough?

And, by-the-way, thanks awfully for “working” to give us “latitude” to exercise our Constitutional rights, Sergeant Slime Trail.

Coming from the department spokesassclown who has deceitfully spun portly pirouettes around all the reports of serial law violations perpetrated by his fellow union brothers and sisters in the past few months, it’s now impossible for any objective person to believe a damn thing that emanates from this baboon’s yapper.

Now, here’s a question being asked of us at FFFF: can the FPD and the City be so detached from reality that they believe the jackass Goodrich is in any way doing them any good? I guess that question really answers itself.

    3. Anyone running to replace the victims (hopefully) of the upcoming recall election should sign a pledge to work tirelessly to outlaw police unions. They are the root of the problem. They preach resentment, breed corruption, and concentrate power in the hands of a shadow government – complete with guns and all related tools of repression. Police and union power are a toxic mixture and must be outlawed.

          1. To be sure, the union is a tool that the Police use to carry out the sort of puppet-electing you speak of. But one doesn’t need a union to do that. The Chamber of Commerce isn’t a union, but they do the same thing, for instance.

            A gang of guys with guns, badges, uniforms, and virtual immunity from prosecution hardly need a union to make the necessary power plays to keep city corruption in their favor. It’s a quid-pro-quo between wealthy interests, politicians, and law enforcement. And, as with all things in our country, the real shot-callers are the wealthy interests. Or wasn’t Kelley murdered because he was “bad for business”?

          2. I think you’re both right. The problem isn’t only the police being unionized, of course, the “virtual immunity from prosecution” part is the more serious problem.   1. Some people are treating me with ignorance on facebook, even though it is eminently clear what side I am on. I criticized Slidebar for having a band named “DEATHFACE” play at their club, I was not “spamming” to promote Slidebar, it is obvious that I was criticizing Slidebar, and my posts on the event page said more than enough which made that clear, even “BOYCOTT SLIDEBAR CAFE”, if that is not clear enough that I was not spamming slidebar to promote them, rather than actually criticizing them and their having (band) “DEATHFACE” play there, which is what I was actually doing, instead, then nothing is. So I was attacked on one of the Kelly Thomas facebook Groups (a big one) by Eric Ridenour, and then Group Admin Chris Fredrickson agreed and removed me. It was very ignorant. It is very clear by my MANY posts on ALL the Kelly Thomas pages and groups at facebook what side I am on. It is clear their judgement of me was quick and shallow and incorrect. It is clear I was not promoting Slidebar. It is clear I was criticizing Slidebar. Eric Ridenour probably won’t admit his mistake. Chris Fredrickson probably won’t admit his mistake. They owe me an apology! Zeek Levine (also one who replied to the comments) did respond to me and admitted what I said was true and added me as a friend. Eric Ridenour & Chris Fredrickson acted in complete ignorance. I wonder if they are big enough men to admit to making a mistake? Maybe it was a misunderstanding? They certainly did not check anything. It certainly was very hasty judgement they used. It has been obvious that I have posted a lot on all the relevant pages and groups at facebook.   2. Yes, the Fullerton Police Department and the Fullerton City Council are indeed, totally detached from reality. They merely believe their own deluded concepts of themselves. And they need to be removed and replaced by people who are competent, give a damn, know the difference between right and wrong and act accordingly, and care at all what they do. They do not fit that descrioption and they are a shame to all of Fullerton. So big changes are needed to fix the very serious problems. Those sad individuals who are detached from reality do not belong in any part of Fullerton’s future.

He is protected by various state of California public employment laws, protected by his police union and protected by 3 members of the city council with the help of the mayor. That is the basic problem here. Thus he can lie at will, knowing that his legal fees will be paid for by the Union and /or the City of Fullerton.
    He does so well lying that Mr. Goodrich could get a job working for Ghadaffi, if he is still in office. Or maybe he is working for the police chief of Fullerton, oops he caught the blue flu and is out on sick leave!

      Nobody is happy about the delays you might suffer leaving or driving back to your home near the Fullerton Police station each Saturday for a few hours, unfathomably miniscule though they must be.

      However, given the larger picture of Fullerton’s homeless extermination unit being housed in that very same station, perhaps you might want to admit that the enormity of the crime and cover-up we are protesting rather dwarfs the mild hindrances which result.

      You might want to just walk out of your house down the street and join your neighbors in seeking justice.

The more people, the more pressure, the more likely the DA will grant the six suspect cops the same protections under the law as you or I, not more. The more people, the more pressure, the more likely the leadership in the police department, as well as city hall will step down. Perharps you will even be part of saving the next family from having to go through this. Then, and not before, you can go back to making left turns without looking at our faces, and I can go back watching English Premiere League games on Saturday morning.   9. I have not been to down Fullerton, since the KT story broke. I guess Mr Good let it be known, that it is still not safe. So I will stay away from all my favorite eateries until Mr. Good gives the all clear. How many others are staying away. I hope some of the good eateries can make it through these hard times. As Mr. Good said it is scarey. for the kids.

No, it is clearly a MISSED OPPORTUNITY by the parents to begin educating their children about the Constitution and Bill of Rights, America is founded upon, the Proud History of this great nation that tracked down Osama bin Ladin for murdering 5,000 + people in the Twin Towers, and Civic Responsibility by all citizens. It sounds like those parents are too lazy to help their children grow into responsible civic-minded adults, probably because they are TOO LAZY to be responsible civic-minded adults themselves. If they were Responsible American Citizens, they would park their cars and get their kids out to walk along with the other protesters.       The Declaration of Independence states: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

      While walking along with the protesters how beautiful it would be to see parents informing their children our Proud Heritage and getting them to discuss what they were learning and express their own opinions. What a sad SAD missed opportunity.

      But, No, the SCHOOLS are responsible to educate our kids, WE are too busy and too important to be involved in our children’s education. So, “shut up kids and stay down low in the back seat until we can get past all these crazy protesting Americans!”

      Anyone complaining about their kids being frightened by the protesters does not deserve the Rights guaranteed for them by the US Constitution which the protesters are demonstrating for. All men are created equal, even the homeless and mentally ill. Freedom and Justice for all, except protesters and horn honkers, of course. Shame, shame, shame!

Although I didn’t expain this to my children quite as eloquently as you did here on the FFFF blog Xer, this is essentially what I told my children and why I’ve brought my children along with me to these protest whenever possible. A textbook can only go so far and a picture is worth a thousand words, however seeing democracy in action is both electrifying and extremely gratifying for my whole family.

            Most importantly focus on who the enemy is. It’s not people who criticize the DA, or dare to attack your

            When I first came to FFF I read over and over “release the video, release the video.” In the spirit of furthering understanding, I pointed out repeatedly that the DA was doing the right thing in saving the video for the jury. If that video is as shocking as many of us think it is, then the DA should do everything he can to assure that the jury’s first viewing is as close to the start of deliberations as possible. Tactically it’s the smart thing to do. The alternative is to release it now and give jurors a year or more to get over it, and for the opposition to pick it apart, as we saw in the King case. A lot of people here now seem to get that concept, but I guess others would prefer to continue to assert that keeping the video private for now is part of some grand conspiracy.

            Now I read over and over that the DA is guilty of foot dragging for deciding to wait for the Forensic Pathologists to complete their report, and having all the info before deciding what kinds of charges to bring against the officers. This supposed foot dragging is also being championed as an example of a grand conspiracy. Again, in the spirit of understanding, I’ve been pointing out that in the case of the suicide of city worker Huy Pham in Costa Mesa, the toxicology autopsy results took nearly 10 full weeks, despite the fact that the eventual outcome proved to be favorable to city officials, who were being blamed for being at least partially at fault for Pham’s jump from the roof of City Hall. Clearly, the 10 weeks it took for Pham’s autopsy results adds context to the 9 weeks we’ve been waiting since Kelly was murdered.

            Justice and understanding instead of polemics and conspiracy theories, that’s why I’m here. I prefer to leave the ‘we are the good guys and they are the bad guys’ kind of thinking to the cops… that’s what got us into this mess in the first place.

You are going to have to face reality. You are outnumbered by citizens who are more resourceful, more intelligent, and more ethically-minded than you are.         Like it or not, the law of the land is that a driver cannot legally uses his horn to protest anything, be it the price of tea in china, a hideous muffin top, or even the murderous beatdown of a defenseless man. And the cops don’t need to research the constitutionality of a law before enforcing it, interpreting case law is simply not their job.

The City of Fullerton, given its current problems surrounding its Police Department, thinks it would be a good idea to also have to defend a local traffic ordinance against a Federal lawsuit alleging violations of First Amendment rights of its citizens to protest the Police Department?

            Again, I just have to marvel at the PR skills of our city and police department. For every single decision taken to shriek of such staggering incompetence is truly a breathtaking thing to behold.

          3. Yeah, some case law supports honking as free speech, but that doesn’t mean it’s legal, it’s not. And again, cops don’t need to research the constitutionality of a law before enforcing it, interpreting case law is not their job. I know it’s a tough concept, but case law and California Code are not the same. When you get a ticket for honking you can go before a judge and cite case law in your defense, and you may or may not win, but the cops are fully within their right to enforce California Code.

  13. I live a couple blocks away from the protest. I’m pretty tired of all the horn honking and bullhorns. We get it. It’s becoming disruptive.   20. I was editor of the school magazine at Fullerton High. I covered Sacramento as a student journalist at UC Davis. I wrote for the two failed precursors to the Fullerton Observer. I wrote as a paid part-time reporter for the Daily News Tribune of Fullerton, including taking a Fullerton Planning Commission meeting for my vacationing hero, lead reporter Silvia Palmer. After my uncle, Ralph Kennedy, made the Fullerton Observer a success, I published several letters in it.

    I lived under the law from age 4 to 21 in Fullerton. I held a business license in Fullerton and lived under the law from age 23 to age 54.

    Several weeks ago on this blog, I suggested that Police Chief Sellers take a paid leave and allow the FBI to come in and clean the Department. Sellers took a medical leave and has allowed a lieutenant to take over the department. (Shows how much anyone listens to me).

    However, I agree that Andrew Goodrich has destroyed his own credibility with his unexplained broken bones comment and with his overall approach to this case. He now depreciates the Fullerton Police Department simply by speaking, just as Chief Sellers derpreciated the FPD just by being Chief. Goodrich should allow another officer to step up and be the mouthpiece for the Fullerton Police Department. Or Silvia Palmer should take over the task. She, at least, knows how to release statements that are journalisticly vetted.

    This would free top-cop Goodrich to concentrate on fighting organized crime in the good city, or fighting drug cartels, or fighting gangs, or simply citing drivers who lean illegally heavy on their horns.

    What a better place Fullerton would be if Goodrich were not speaking publicly….

The FPD writes a few tickets to try to reign in the protest a bit and the DA calls up the Forensic Pathologists at Juguilon Medical Corporation, the private company that is currently conducting the autopsy on Thomas, and says, “Go ahead and take another couple of weeks boys, we’ve got those pesky protesters under control now.”

      1. Um, how many DA investigators have ties to FPD? I don’t think you’ve ever opined on the fact that Stan Berry is best pals with our poor, sickly Chief Sellers. The fact that he never recused himself and was left on the case by our Do Nothing DA speaks volumes.

        Word is that the DAs investigators have, in some cases, dismissed and ignored the information provided and the OCTA bus driver was harassed by an anonymous caller who sounded remarkably like the guy from the DAs office who “interviewed” him.

I went west down Commonwealth and saw one cop in patrol car at Senior Center Way, just waiting for his next victim. First he said they were just warning drivers honking excessively, but one lady caught him in a lie and showed him a citation from a man who just got one.   33. WOW…the FPD is really getting desperate now. I mean, this would almost be funny. They finally realize how FURIOUS the public is with them, so now they’re trying to silence people. They have no other recourse against the public backlash, because everyone knows how corrupt they are. So what do they do…try to silence people who are supporting the protesters. And to me, the timing of this seems very, very suspicious. Wasn’t there just recently a protest at the Orange County DA? And now this happens. I had read in news articles about the protests that the cops were “keeping their distance.” I figured that even the FPD wouldn’t be stupid enough to harass the protesters. They won’t do that, because that would be analogous to throwing jet fuel on a fire…so apparently they’re harassing people who support the protesters instead.

    By the way, I’m willing to bet any amount of money that there were NO “kids frightened” by the protests, honking horns, or someone running into the street. That was an outright lie, and we all know it. It was a complete fabrication. Completely made up. We know that Goodrich and the rest of the FPD will outright make things up (like the cops having “broken bones” after beating Kelly).

    Also, in all the videos I’ve seen of the protests, I have never seen anyone block traffic. Everyone has stayed on the sidewalks or in front of the police station.

    I can’t remember any time where police have tried to write tickets for people honking to express support at a protest or rally. Never. But the FPD is trying to do it because that’s all they have left.

    oh…I just checked out that link about the Federal case. Yup, apparently a Federal judge ruled that horn honking IS a protected form of free speech. So what the FPD did is against Federal law, period. Print this out and show it to any cop who tries to cite someone for honking their horn. Game over.

  34. I’ve been looking on Google and found a lot of news articles about that ruling. Sure enough, The Federal judge’s ruling was very clear. Honking at a protest is a protected form of free speech. The police can NOT arrest or cite protesters who ask drivers to honk…and they can NOT cite drivers for honking in support. Period. End of story.

    I read about a case in 2009 where someone got into a fight with their neighbor, and then parked in front of the neighbor’s house and honked her horn continuously. She was charged with a noise nuisance, and tried to say that her right to free speech was violated. But the judge disagreed. However, even in that case there was a caveat…the judge said that the honking would have to be expressing a certain view, and that it would have to be reasonably understood by a person that the honking was to express a political view.

    In other words, even in that case, the judge is saying that honking to express a view is free speech.

    Like I said, if a cop tries to cite someone for honking at the protests, he is violating Federal law. Print out the ruling from 2008, and show it to the cop, and tell him that a Federal judge ruled that honking at a protest is protected free speech and if he writes a citation for that, he is violating Federal law. What could his reply possibly be then?

    In fact, with that ruling in 2008, I think there will have to be an exception written in the California Vehicle Code about honking as a form of free speech. The ruling by the Federal judge basically forces the state to do that.

      1. That’s the key. The law is the law. If there aren’t exceptions written into the law for things like this, then the cops can write the tickets. Especially if the cops have video or testify that the honker honked for two full blocks, which isn’t protected by free speech. Honking at the protest to express support at the location is of course protected.

    1. Chris. I agree to an extent. Before everyone decides to go and honk forever and get tickets, I would consult an experienced attorney. Otherwise, they may all just end up donating to the city in the end.

      Honking a horn for an extended period, for an extended distance is not allowed even in a protest. The honking has to be in expression of the protest at that location. So it’s not as easy as you say that everyone can honk as much as they want and it’s protected.

      I think this protest is going to require permits and specific requirements soon. If those aren’t met, more enforcement will take place. Permits and times are normal for protests that continue on a daily or weekly basis. We will see. I think someone said it right. With all the desire and want to force the police’s hand in terms of laws and keeping the protestors in line, it will cause everyone to lose focus on the original intent of this whole protest and anger. Good luck.

Contact the ACLU, report that your cival rights have been violated, and then contact Mr. Mardirossian (attorney handeling the Kelly Thomas case) and get a class action lawsuit going, Dont let up on ’em now.

  49. why can’t FPD figure it out. If they would have just done their job (as they were supposed to do) from the beginning, they wouldn’t be so concerned about honking horns. FPD WILL NOT take any accountability for their actions. Kill someone, get a paid vacation (tax free!)

    This is just another form of “cover up”, trying to create an issue out of nothing to distort the real issue at hand. They wont take any responsibility for their actions. PD is just waiting for this whole thing to blow over.

    Ya, PD was sort of accomodating of the demonstrations early on (because they had to be, the public was to outraged).
    Now PD see’s the demonstrations as a nuissance to their own personal agenda (pensions, protection, job retention, exposing the truth) and they want to find any reason at all to subdue the protests. I will tell you now, the overall agenda of FPD right now is to squash the protests without looking like FPD is doing anything wrong.
    FPD, the DA, Mayor Jones all have one thing in common: They want this whole thing to “blow over”. DONT LET THAT HAPPEN!

  50. Very well said. I’ve said that from the start. It’s not the grand conspiracy people here think. It will turn out to be people doing a very good job for the long term, not a short term jerk reaction to satisfy the people.

    What side am I on? Seriously? Why does there have to be sides? What’s wrong with just being an advocate for justice and understanding instead of us versus them polemics and poorly thought out conspiracy theories?
    When I first came to FFF I read over and over “release the video, release the video.” In the spirit of furthering understanding, I pointed out repeatedly that the DA was doing the right thing in saving the video for the jury. If that video is as shocking as many of us think it is, then the DA should do everything he can to assure that the jury’s first viewing is as close to the start of deliberations as possible. Tactically it’s the smart thing to do. The alternative is to release it now and give jurors a year or more to get over it, and for the opposition to pick it apart, as we saw in the King case. A lot of people here now seem to get that concept, but I guess others would prefer to continue to assert that keeping the video private for now is part of some grand conspiracy.
    Now I read over and over that the DA is guilty of foot dragging for deciding to wait for the Forensic Pathologists to complete their report, and having all the info before deciding what kinds of charges to bring against the officers. This supposed foot dragging is also being championed as an example of a grand conspiracy. Again, in the spirit of understanding, I’ve been pointing out that in the case of the suicide of city worker Huy Pham in Costa Mesa, the toxicology autopsy results took nearly 10 full weeks, despite the fact that the eventual outcome proved to be favorable to city officials, who were being blamed for being at least partially at fault for Pham’s jump from the roof of City Hall. Clearly, the 10 weeks it took for Pham’s autopsy results adds context to the 9 weeks we’ve been waiting since Kelly was murdered.
    Justice and understanding instead of polemics and conspiracy theories, that’s why I’m here. I prefer to leave the ‘we are the good guys and they are the bad guys’ kind of thinking to the cops… that’s what got us into this mess in the first place.

    1. Police will be cleared of all charges, all of you will find out Kelly Thomas was in the wrong, and you’ll all move on to some other cause.

    On one hand, nearby-to-the-Saturday-protests resident “PJ” above was excoriated for having the temerity to suggest that the noise and the traffic is getting a little old. He was called a whiner. And yet on the other, the whining here about the cops giving three lousy tickets is deafening! Take your ticket, go to court, fight it and win and consider this a part of the price of social protest in seeking justice. We aren’t exactly talking Kent here folks.

    I’m sure I’ll be accused once more of being on the ‘wrong side,’ but I think it’s possible to want justice for Kelly and still point out that maybe part of having a ‘peaceful protest’ would be working together to limit the ‘disturbing of the peace.’

    After all, freedom of expression and the right to protest are not absolute, and if one chooses to break the law as part of a protest, one must then be willing to pay the price and not whine like a stuck pig (pun intended) when called on it.

    Sure the cops see the protests as a nuisance to their agenda, but the fact of the matter is that local residents and business people also seem to see the protests as a nuisance to THEIR agenda, the right to be able to do business and to live in relative peace.

    In another discussion here it was mentioned that the owner of a nearby clock shop had put up a sign requesting that protesters park elsewhere and leave the street parking for his customers. This was so offensive to one frequent FFF poster that he/she suggested a boycott of the clock shop! Please. The guy might be the biggest supporter in the world of justice for Kelly, but he’s still got to make a fkn living.

    It seems to me that the cops have bent over backwards to limit their confrontations with protesters. The gatherings have been going on for weeks and this is the first we’ve heard. And it also seems that they tried to avoid yesterday’s confrontation by talking with organizers the night before and seeking their cooperation.

    I would suggest that by refusing to cooperate and pissing off the neighbors, we are playing right into the cops’ hand, marginalizing ourselves within a community whose support will be key to achieving real reform.

    Well…too bad, so sad. and furthermore, if the clock shop owner is so worried about business and might be “a big supporter” then he/she should provide private parking and not care about 6 hrs, 1x a week of protesting.. snap

You seem to be grasping at imaginary straws, “The guy might be the biggest supporter in the world of justice for Kelly, but he’s still got to make a fkn living.” Nothing I have read in these blogs shows ANY evidence the clock store owner supports Kelly’s Army’s fight for justice. Nada, The parking in front of his shop on the street is public parking. Rather than warning protesters to go somewhere else to park, why doesn’t he put a sign in his window promoting justice for Kelly. Instead of making protesters resent him, he could have been learning particulars about why so many people feel strongly enough to go out on one of their two weekend days and protest in the heat. Bet he would have a more thriving business, not just now, but into the future if he got on board instead of being a jerk.

      I agree people will have to go to Municipal court and probably pay for their tickets, but If the organizers can get a good lawyer involved who wants to make a name for himself in higher courts (careers are built this way), or the ACLU, then will Fullerton really feel the pain. Short term petty punishment for protest supporters for in exchange for a longer term larger payout? Stupid.

      Those running Fullerton right now are so stunningly amateur it would be laughable were it not so pathetic. The FOOLS are evidently planning on taking the ship down with them instead of the other way around. FPD has decided since they are going down they’ll get payback on the entire City by taking City Government down with them. These guys are so dishonorable I hope they get blackballed all across America and cannot get hired in LE anywhere else ever!

    To all of you PRO-6 FPD people, I welcome you to counter-protest right next to me. It is your GOD-GIVEN right to do so, and I encourage you to exercise that right.
    As for me, I am PRO-POLICE myself, however, I do say that TRUST and AUTHORITY that is given to all of those wearing the badge, should NOT be abused. It is this abuse that is so pervasive within departments nowadays, and undermines the public’s trust and cooperation.
    Apparently, FPD has denied people’s rights FEDERALLY this time. Keep stepping on your dicks FPD. You are showing the world what we all know to be true; imbeciles, each and every one of you.

    1. Kinda. As long as there are laws that are on the books, the cops can utilize them. Each ticket will be fought independently based on the testimony and video from each side. The judge will decide. Class action federal lawsuit for the cites? Any lawsuit can be filed in federal court. Biggest key in a federal suit against cops is state actor, state action, and damages. If you have those, then it’s possible but cops base their actions on the written laws and how they read in the penal and vehicle codes. Proving wrongdoing will be tough. I know I know it’s chicken shit. But like I said before, people do complain about the protests and if laws are broken, they will be enforced. I predict more cops as this progresses and more enforcement. Yes, I know you say you are going to honk louder and protest louder and crazier, but you will each be the ones having to address your actions when cited or arrested. Yes, you feel the cops were wrong with Kelly but the judge won’t care in your case.

        Look up ACLU vs. Ferndale. HORN-HONKING IS CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED FREE SPEECH AT PROTESTS. Period. Doesn’t make a difference what stupid local ordinance is cited. If I was ticketed I’ll take a jury trial and court date. Cops would be insanely stupid to even show up. Of course, insanely stupid does describe our local police department, so maybe they’ll show up. Good. Case goes to trial, defense attorney refers ACLU vs. Ferndale case, trial ends, aquittal. Countersuit filed against city for violating my First Amendment rights. City loses again. Great advice.

  58. The owner of the clock store is not a supporter. If he was, he would be at the protest right across the street.
    Its time to “hire” some lawyers for probono work on getting tickets dropped. Let them write a hundred tickets, three is nothing!
    the basic problem in Fullerton is called denial. The vast majority of residents are in denial that their wonderful city council and mayor could hire goons! Their big surprise will not be the paltry charges emanating from the DA office. He will make the charges easy and then try to plea bargain them so there is no trial.
    The real problem for Fullerton residents is the enormous settlement these idiots are making bigger. In an LA County case 16 deputy sheriffs were involved, the person did not die and the settlement was for $25,000,000. Fullerton is a self insured city. Understand what that means to cuts in city services, cuts in police personnel (no not low lifes with longevity like Goodrich, but younger new guys just starting out), cuts in pothole fixing, road repairs, public services, etc.
    If you are just complaining about honking like the clock man, you will soon enough have lots to complain about when your city business license fee doubles and triples! Stay in the shadows and good luck!

This article contains way too many logical fallacies to be taken as serious journalism, and writing biased articles that personally attack someone for their weight is not going to help the cause. Clearly citations for honking your horn (freedom of speech ?) is just a cheap tactic of intimidation that has been sanctioned by the “acting chief” and if the Council does not go on the record as being against this type of intimidation then they all need to go I would hope that anyone that has been issued one of these citations has enough sense to challenge it in Court

  63. Damn, I saw that channel 9 at 10 newstory about saturdays protest-they interviewed Goodyear Blimp, gadzook, hes huge. Dang, I know this guy must have a sitting down job- he cant run anyway, except to the refrigerator.

    I have not been to down Fullerton, since the KT story broke. I guess Mr Good let it be known, that it is still not safe. So I will stay away from all my favorite eateries until Mr. Good gives the all clear. How many others are staying away. I hope some of the good eateries can make it through these hard times. As Mr. Good said it is scarey. for the kids.

    “As a Fullerton resident I am just so sad about this. It’s funny because we were at First Night in Fullerton last year and the cops looked like they were going to war. Full military gear, big guns and weapons….. It scared my six year old son. Last week we were in Vegas and the cops smiled at you and shook my sons hand. What a contrast. I have to admit that while I have always had a lot of respect for the police I think we need some new leadership here in Fullerton.”
