  1. I’m still waiting for “there” first official act of service to Fullerton’s residents.

  2. I wouldn’t miss this the opportunity to say good-bye and good riddance to Larry and his latchkey lackeys for all the tea in China.

  3. Yeah, buh-bye fine community servants-thanks for not caring or doing anything for Fullerton but line your pockets, give out special favors and enjoy freebies from your buddies for all these years.

Maybe Larry and Boss Hog will organize a parade in their honor.

  4. A “Parade” is a great idea! Will the Sta- puff marshmellow man “float” be there? Oh! That was “Ghostbusters!”, but this is the same, its “Bustin’ Ghosts!”

  5. I wonder if Larry Bennett buys his knee pads on sale at Home Depot?

That guys has some serious issues on being a suck butt.

    1. THERE not THEIR. All you like minded idiots and english challenged morons have found a place here on this site to expose your simple minds.

  6. I want to think nothing was going to be able to surprise me from the Larry Bennett group but I have to admit I am a bit slack jawed at this.

Realize the meeting was likely set on a monday morning to AVOID attention and fireworks that have gone hand in hand with the recall since shortly after the beating death of Kelly Thomas. So now, rather than let sleeping dogs lie and the old guys just go quietly, Larry invites his pals to come sing “goodbye farewell” at their final meeting.

Well Larry, what do you think the natural reaction of the pro recall group is going to be now that you have decided to make a 30 second innocuous meeting a sendoff? Think maybe you have challenged the other side to show up now? you just couldnt let this go without dragging your friends in to a dark alley for one last ass kicking?

Larry, you have to be the worst political calculator I have ever heard of. I hope Don, Dick and Pat send a thank you to you for causing their last moment on the council to be yet one last circus act instead of the quiet peaceful exit it was supposed to be.

Ok folks, we know where they would like us to be monday. See you there.

    1. Actually, Hollis this is an innocuous send off. Their many years of service have earned them a quiet goodbye courtesy of their supporters. It’s fuckheads such as yourself who wish to turn this goodbye into a circus as well. You’re only interested in kicking them while they’re down. So come on down and cause a scene. I just hope it’s your teeth that get knocked out first.

      1. They’ve earned a quiet goodbye? No. They screwed over just about every person in this city with the exception of anyone who has an office in city hall.

These guys deserve nothing but a boot.

      2. The only ones that they served during their many years of public service we’re themselves, the public employees unions, and their cronies in the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club.

All I ever saw was contempt and an attitude of screw anyone else that didn’t like it that way.

No one said anything about “causing a scene” except for you.

      3. Hey pal, we all have friends and I’m sure the friends of Dick, Don and Pat have enough sense to know there is a better way to thank them. Throwing down the gauntlet is not the one I would have recommended to Mr. Bennett.

The monday meeting literally could be less than a minute. With the new council members there waiting to be sworn in, anyone wanting to protect or spare the sensitivities of Jones, Bankhead and McKinley should know that a separate off site meeting might be a better call.

Whether or not you agree with the Kelly’s Army people or the pro recall crowd you cant tell me you really think Dick, Don and Pat will get to be the only ones with friends speaking at the mic. Wouldnt it have been better to have neither side speak? That was the point of a quiet monday meeting until Larry Bennett once again torpedoed his own boat.

Chill out annon. I’m calling stupid what it is.

      4. Hey! Anonymous:
Their many years of service to whom? themselves and their buds? Innocuous. right. And how did they serve you? list please.

How about inviting their 16 supporters quietly instead of posting it if its meant to be so “innocuous”?

While in service for years, they did nothing but give everyone who wasn’t their special friend, the finger and kick citizen’s while they were down, right up until the end and this is more of that.

        Big foam finger time.

Are you hoping someone will physically harm someone? Your quote of
“just hope it’s your teeth that get knocked out first.”
        doesn’t sound innocuous to me.

      5. Then esteemed plastic surgeon Dr. Jones can remake your face. He’ll use his favorite painkiller – oxytoxin.

        GODDAM IT!

    2. Sorry Hollis, let’s not get anything confused here. The real circus started when these (now recalled) guys took jobs that they had no real intention of doing in the first place.

If the ass kicking you describe indeed transpires, they deserve every last second of it.

  7. Give Larry some credit. This is a funeral ceremony marking the end of Jones’, Bankhead’s, and McKinley’s relevance in this city.

Will there be a reception at Larry’s house?

  8. Well, I for one , would love to miss seeing these 3 assholes another time!!!! I WOULD RATHER GO TO THE DENTIST!!! AND MY FRIEND & ROOMMATE…. ”SHERRIE” SAYS THAT SHE WOULD RATHER GO THROUGH CHILDBIRTH… ALL DAY, WITH HOURS & HOURS OF HARD LABOR!!! GOOD RIDENCE TO ALL 3 OF THESE ASSHOLES, & ESPECIALLY ” BALD, UGLY ” MC KINLEY”!!!! I DON`T THINK THEY REALLY KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE HATE THEM, MUCH LESS CARE. THEY WILL MEET THEIR MAKER ONE DAY, & BE PASSED ON TO ”SATAN”, & GO TO HELL….WHERE THEY BELONG!!!! HOPEFULLY, ANYWAY!!! GOOD RIDENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Like they really gave a shit if you all hate them. They are living it up comfortably collecting their big pensions. Time to relax and travel.

      1. J.D. I think hate is too strong of an adjective to describe most residents feelings towards the three bald tires.

I think most residents are waiting with bated breath to see the various nefarious schemes that these career politicians have hoisted on the populace in years past.

      2. Relax and travel. Collect the big pensions. Sounds great except how will they enjoy all that while avoiding every mirror in the world?

  9. Maybe the Wizard will be there and present the three re-treads with a Brain…Courage…and a Heart!!!!!

  10. I’m not going to the meeting, but I’d be happy to help defend my FFFF friends in court if some boisterous-but-legal interruption of the Council meeting leads to mass arrests. I think that that sort of retaliation by the outgoing Council members would be wrong. (Someone else will have to supply the bail money, though.)

  11. Supreme Justice Greg-n-stein,

I’m going to refer to Hollis’s comment #21 (above Bird, It’s the Word) as my answer to your generous and thoughtful offer.

  12. Actually the Three Bald Tires will not be presiding over anything. One again the Boob Bennett has got it wrong.

The Mayor Quirky will be presiding. Will she kiss the asses of the Three, telling them what Heroes they are?

And Tuesday night will she vote to keep the water tax? I doubt it, even tho’ every natural instinct in her pea-brain will scream out to do so.

Will Pammy Keller be there Monday morn to collaborate on the send off? How about Jan Flory and Molly McClanahan? Dick Ackerman? Dave Ellis?

Oh, the video possibilities will be endless!

    1. Will she kiss the asses of the Three, telling them what Heroes they are?

She will thank them for serving the community …yada …yada …yada “whether you agree with them or not” …blah “colleagues” …blah “sorely missed” …blah. It will be a real gag fest.

Make sure you video record the whole thing because they probably won’t broadcast it.

      1. MJ – I’m wondering if Jan Flory will have presentations for the three of them for their extensive service to the community and its residents 🙂

          1. dime to a dollar says there will be plaques! Old people love plaques.

I have been waiting for this moment for a long time, I can’t wait. I say we wear clown wigs in their honor.

  13. Why are folks picking on me? What happened to everyone’s favorite little darling (me) when I was just Sharon Quirk? Got elected to the City Council and then a little while later, everything changed. I finally became mayor and now, few people like me……..Some are probably counting the days until I am out of office in November.

    1. Sharon has done loads for the community. I can’t name a single thing, but I don’t live here. I’m sure somebody can. Did I remind everyone that I’m on the ballot with Sharon. We can win we can win.

      Aw, Hell. No we can’t.

  14. Is ‘public comments’ on the agenda for Monday morning???

If so, I’ll be there with bells on. I’d love to get my little farewell speech on record.

    Let me know.

    1. I’ll help you out with that, having checked the online published agenda (which you could have done for yourself) – yes, the “public comments” segment is included…

  15. I also thought it was an interesting choice of words by Larry Bennett to characterize the three bald tires roles at last meeting….

    pre·side/priˈzīd/
    Verb:
Be in the position of authority in a meeting or gathering: “Bishop Herbener presided at the meeting”.
Be in charge of (a place or situatio

  16. Hey #45 R.T. IS A WIFE BEATER: SO WHAT EXACTLY IS YOUR POINT??? EVEN IF THOSE TWO STATEMENTS WERE TRUE, WHICH I PERSONALLY DO NOT BELIEVE, ESPECIALLY THAT RON IS NOT KELLY`S DAD, WHAT `S YOUR STUPID POINT?? DOES THAT MEAN THAT THOSE ROTTEN MURDERING ASSHOLE COPS WERE JUSTIFIED??? IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT THE HELL THEIR FAMILY ”ISSUES” WERE, THAT`S THEIR BUSINESS, AND THEIR SON WAS BEATEN TO A PULP, AND MURDRED…. BY ”COPS”, WHO THINK THEY ARE GOD, AND KNOW THAT THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING… ALMOST ALWAYS!!! THEY KNEW KELLY`S NAME, AND HE WAS NOT COMMITTING ANY CRIME!!! AND… HE COULD HAVE JUST ”LOOKED AT THEM THE WRONG WAY, ” & THEY COULD HAVE USED THAT AS AN EXCUSE TO DO WHAT THEY INTENDED TO DO, WHEN THEY ROLLED UP!!!! THEY COULD NOT HAVE DONE HIM ANY WORSE, HAD HE OF BEEN ARMED, & SHOT & KILLED ONE, TWO, OR THREE OF THEM!!!! THEY ALL BELONG IN AFGANISTAN ( IF NOT IN HELL!!!) WITH THE KIND OF ADRENELIN THAT THEY HAVE!!!! LET THEM DO WHAT THEY DID AT WAR, NOT ON SOME HOMELESS, YOUNG MAN WITH HEALTH ISSUES, WHO WAS DOING NOTHING WRONG, OH BUT I FORGOT…. HE WAS A NUISANCE, SO….JUST KILL HIM, AS HE BEGS FOR HIS LIFE, AND APOLOGIZES OVER & OVER AGAIN, WHEN HE DID`NT EVEN HAVE A DAMN THING TO HAVE TO APOLOGIZE…FOR!!!!!! SO, ONCE AGAIN WHAT IS YOUR POINT??? THIS BLOG IS TO BRING UP SHIT ABOUT HIS FAMILY???? WHAT IN THE HELL HAS ANYTHING LIKE THAT,…GOT TO DO WITH OUR MUDEROUS F.P.D., HUH???? LEAVE THE FAMILY ALONE & SHUT UP, I`D SAY THAT THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH, WITHOUT SOMEONE LIKE YOU BRINGING UP THINGS LIKE THAT, TRUE, OR NOT!!!!!

      1. JD-since you don’t have any gray matter up there to “ache”, it was most likely a toothache you felt.

  17. The issue here is communication. Dan Hughes has loudly proclaimed that the FPD blew it in communication over the Kelly Thomas case. But he still continues to blow it. Dan and the rest of the establishment does not realize that to communiate to their people in this age, they have to communicate openly, honestly, and by name on this and other blogs.

I am one of the old guard. I wrote for the first two failed precursors of the Fullerton Observer and I wrote as a part time reporter for the Daily News Tribune when Silvia Palmer was the lead reporter.

Untill two years ago, I was very impressed with the way that Sharon Kennedy was bringing the Observor up to journalistic standards the way that Raplh had no interest in doing. Two years ago, I was shocked to find the effectiveness of a new media in the blog iepolitics.com. I was shocked again as this media reached maturity in my old hometown with the death of Kelly Thomas. Friends For Fullerton’s Future brought in reality the ability for the common citizen to voice his opinion the way that we pretended to promote back in 1976.

Larry Bennet thinks that he can put out a printed invitation to a few, and that it will not be picked up and examined by the blogs. In this same way, the established interests are thinking that the blogs are something that can be ignored, and if ignored enough, will simply go away.

Sorry. I became an editor at Fullerton High without ever taking Journalism One. I covered Sacrameto for the UC Davis Aggie without ever having a college or university journalism class. I did my semi-professtional work on the strengh of a single journalism class and a single photography class at California State University Fullerton.

I believe in education. I believe in communication. I believe in seeking the truth. I believe in making judgements. I learned the limitations of sitting in a class listening to a teacher in my sophomore year at Fullerton High.

The established institutions seem to believe that the blogs are a flash in the pan that had best be ignored. The Fullerton recall to them seems to be a fluke. I think that the blogs are a revelolutionary form of communication that has reached maturity and will undergo strengthening and improvement in the ensuing years.

The established forces had better realize this, or they will find themselves unestablished.

    1. I agree with your overarching point that the communication process has changed and that the anti-recall folks have no clue. I guess you could call it a generational thing, but I would suggest its complacency.

Everyone was complacent; the recalled members, the political consultants and those donating. There was never a plan. They spent money in all the wrong areas and over paid for their endeavors. It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

I do take exception to your assertion that blogging is here to stay and has matured. Blogging reached that pinnacle many years ago as evidenced by by the subsequent devleopment of micro-blogging (twitter, FB, etc) and live video streaming. Those citizens that engage via these immediate communication protocols are the latest reporters pushing the paradigm…

  18. I can’t wait for tomorrow morning. This is going to be so much fun, I really hope someone is videotaping.

    1. I hear ya, and I hope the 4F camera crew will be at city hall filming this just in case the city camera is not working or not turned on.

  19. Anyone who wants to ensure the cold-blooded murder of Kelly Thomas does not go unpunished please sign these change.org petitions and pass them on. This story has not received the national attention it deserves. If all of Kelly’s Army forward these petitions to a few friends we could have 100,000 signatures on the petition to get the four accomplices who held Kelly down, and/or displayed cowardice and complicity by not stopping the murder off the force. The FPD is sure as hell not going to do it because it’s the right thing to do.

  20. Independence day 2012 and the fireworks will have a whole new meaning this year. The American spirit is alive and well in Fullerton. Hasta lasagna piassos.
