Gustavo Has Some Fun With Mr. Ramos

Over at the OC Weekly, Gustavo Arellano is sharing the now familiar image of Fullerton cop, Manuel Ramos, one of the thugs who instigated the beating death of Kelly Thomas, and who is out on $1,000,000 bail. Of course he adds his own twist.

It does make you wonder if the obese Ramos has put in a claim for disability yet. It’s sure to be approved.

    1. Ramos looks like a beer drinker. Is the FPD hiring drunks? Do they all drink together? Pat McKinley seeks to slur his words a lot, does he have a mild case of wet brain. Has the FPD been suffering from brain atrophy?

  1. The way the system works, he was probably allowed to file for a medical retirement while he’s out on “vacation” awaiting trial.

    1. Ramos and Cicinelli are not out on vacation. Their paychecks stopped in October.

Wolfe, Hampton, Craig, and Blatney are on paid leave.

      1. No, their paychecks did not stop in October. See they had a bunch of vacation time built up so they got another 5 months pay before the gravy train came to a halt.

  2. I’m not conviced that this was anything more that a scab that got pulled off so as to pose with an injury.

    1. No, I think it’s real. I think he tried to elbow Kelly in the face, missed and scaled it against the pavement.

    2. how does one get an injury on the back of his elbow instead on his knuckles. It couldn’t have been anything that a detainded person on the ground should be responceable for. It’s almost as if he’s suggesting…” this is what Kelly did to me.”

    3. Interesting thought, any doctors out there that can tell us their view of the “injury”?
From what I can make out from the picture above, there appears to be some areas of the wound that are raised and the center appears to be depressed.
If that is the case, does this (for lack of a better word” ……”landscape”, happen immediately when there is a injury or does it take time for a rise and fall to appear on the skin?

Is there a doctor in the house who can speak to the picture and the question of a scab or fresh wound?

  3. Ramos would be a disgrace to any uniform. It would be a disgrace for him to wear a grease monkey uniform at Joe’s Auto Repair – if they could find one to fit him. Did the cops have to special order his patrol uniform and belt? I saw clips of him during the prelim. He’s got a-hole written all over his face. Put him one on one with any normal guy and take away his baton, gun and his ability to call for help. The poor F would be squealing for mercy. He would be gasping for breath 30 seconds into the fight. He’s a 300 pound punk. But he wears it proudly.

    1. I overheard one of the lawyers say that Ramos lost 75 pounds before coming to trial.

I also can tell you that the Sheriff’s Deputies that I observed this week inside and outside of the court room, appear none too happy with the conduct of Ramos and Ciccinelli.

These guys just made every police officer’s job in the country just that much harder when it’s already hard enough.

      1. I’m strangely gratified that the Sheriffs aren’t happy. I’m not going to leap to any conclusions, but at least that provides a glimmer of hope that there are still good people wearing a badge.

      2. Not true they were escorting the families everywhere. On the last day of the prelim, the deputies were shaking the families, Ramos and Cicinelli’s hand and telling them good luck and we will pray for you. They saw the video and they thought the charges were such a joke.

  4. After seeing the video it looks like it was reprocessed – there is pixilization of the video at times that best serve the defense. Additionally the focus changes which could have been deliberately added for the benefit of the defense, as this was a video provided by the City of Fullerton’s police department. The cop’s attorney Barnett will certainly use that to Ramos’ benefit but with no success. In fact, all cops who had their hands on Thomas that night should have been charged with felony manslaughter and excessive force un der color of authority. Why the OC DA didn’t charge Cicinielli with 2nd degree is baffling since he appeared to take the first swing with the club and initialted the entire scene as well as admitting on video he smashed Thomas’ face. Just makes no sense unless you’re on the side of the cops. Since Cicinelli took the first swing with his club – unnecessessarily so and this action caused Ramos to reason that he could then join in on the action with impunity. This asswipe Ramos is a fat cowardly slob and his problems are only getting worse. Once the State is done with him, the U.S Attorney’s office will step in and file a federal civil right lawsuit against not only those two but probably additional Fullerton cops involved. The problem comes with penalty phase. My guess is these scumbags with get some minimal jail time although everyone involved should be doing YEARS in jail for filing false police reports. Will the Fullerton informant testify to that fact?. These jackass cops take their jobs too personally and it ends up costing the taxpayers. If I had any say in the matter, cops would be held PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE both FINANCIALLY and LEGALLY for these types of abuses and unnecessary force.

Question to Thomas’ Father: Does this video look exactly like it did when you viewed it – including the focus problems and pixilization during certain points? Was it examined by any outside computer forensics expert to ensure is was not edited or altered digitally or reprocessed in analog and then re-recorded digitally?? This should be easy to determine if the origianl video is examined. I would not put anything past this Fullerton ‘police’ outfit.

    1. You’re confusing officers. Cicinelli did not take the first swing. It was Joe Wolfe. Cicinelli comes later.

      1. RauCockass does not seem competent to perform his duties. I feel like he only made the charges because of the pressure from the public and that he is doing the bare minimum to get by. He should be fired or replaced, and slapped with conspiracy charges. there ought to be conspiracy charges on the chief as he acted only to cover it up. He saw the video first and he should have had officers involved already placed on leave pending charges. Instead, he had them all rewriting the reports several times to make sure they all had the story straight. That’s an illegal, fraudulent, and criminal act. Is there any way we can serve RauCockass with a demand that he perform his duties or resign? The special treatment he is giving them is a conflict of interest towards justice and should not be tolerated. My fists are getting ready to F him up if he continues his gross negligence and flagrant violations. FILE THE CHARGES LIKE YOU WOULD ANYONE ELSE RAUCOCKASS!!

    2. What ever happened to the “informant” who originally appeared on the John and Ken show and as I recall spoke about the video…didn’t he say that he saw it and also didn’t he talk about the capabilities of the camera, the clarity of the video, how it was reviewed by the officers and (the record of the log-in when reports were entered on FPD computers), etc.?

      What happened to that guy?

  5. Hey Dodge, it was not Cincinelli who took the first swing. Cinc is # 3 on the scene. It is Wolfe who took the first swing.

  6. Looks like a pre-existing scrape that the healing process had already begun on the upper portion and a little bit of the scab was rubbed off during the Murder or afterwards to get a little blood flow.

  7. At any rate, I believe we should all send a sympathy card. What do you say, guys? It’s the least we can do!

  8. Doctor: Chest compression led to CA homeless death

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Prosecutors have concluded presentation of evidence to a judge who will decide whether two Southern California police officers must stand trial on charges of killing a mentally ill homeless man.

Two final witnesses testified Wednesday in the death of 37-year-old Kelly Thomas, and Orange County prosecutors and defense attorneys have begun preparing for several hours of closing arguments.

Thomas died last year after a violent confrontation with officers who responded to reports of a homeless man looking into parked cars and rattling door handles.

Fullerton police Officer Manuel Ramos is accused of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Cpl. Jay Cicinelli is charged with involuntary manslaughter and excessive force.

    1. There you have it.

Kelly was very much alive but… umm received a severe cut on his head and… uhh the medics chose to delay treatment to him and instead treated officers which caused him to lose lots of blood.

After he was loaded onto the ambulance, the medics kneed kelly in the face causing the bruising you see and pumped on his chest causing cardiac arrest.

  9. You can tell pie face ramos gravy train has come to a halt, it looks like he has lost 2 or 3 hundred pounds and stopped useing shoe polish in his hair.

    1. I looked at the back of his huge Charlie Brown head all day yesterday-his ears are kind of twisted and big.

Cici kept turning to left pretty scary from 300 ft away- All I kept imagining was Kelly had this guy sitting on him.

    2. 75 pounds. I know this is totally un-related, however I was struck by two things observing Ramos within a foot of me at times this week.

      1) Ramos is roughly 5 feet 10 inches tall, however his feet seem to be proportionately much smaller, like about a size 7?

      2) Ramos and his mother look alike.

  10. Well the videos out so its clear it wasn’t just Ramos, the boo boo sounds about right in the struggle. I don’t understand the crucifixion on just Ramos in all of this. I don’t see where an accusation of murder for one individual who in the video was clearly trying to get an individual to comply with his orders. Its pretty routine. After the video release and Kellys attitude toward the stop, we see what led up to this very unfortunate event. Right now it sits 50/50 for me. These kinds of struggles are not typically seen by the public, so the spin out and of course not having all the pieces hasn’t really provided good justice to the situation. I’m pretty positive the result of all this was from the poor communication and accountability from the department.

    1. NO ONE EVER said it was “just Ramos.” You say it’s “routine” to threaten an innocent person with great bodily harm and make him fear for his life? And, it’s “routine” to murder someone who is not able, or willing, to comply with illegal harrassment and intimidation?

Is it “routine” to murder someone without a jury or a judge??

“Unfortunate event”???? Is THAT what you call MURDER where you live in your state of DENIAL??? Are you kidding me??

“These kinds of “struggles” are not typically seen by the public…” “STRUGGLES”??? Again, are you KIDDING ME???

Kelly “struggled” FOR HIS LIFE, Kelly TOLD officers that he couldn’t breathe! (He had hundreds of pounds of weight on top of him compressing his chest, he had broken ribs and a collapsed lung filled with blood and he was lying in a huge pool of blood after being beaten with batons and fists, being kicked in the head and having his head smashed into the curb!!!

In the gravely injured condition that Kelly was in, do you seriously think that Kelly was ANY kind of a physical threat to those six, bullet proof vest wearing, armed and trained officers?? Do you seriously believe that Kelly could have even stood up at that point?? Kelly needed an ambulance at that point and to be taken to a hospital. But, no, that wasn’t good enough for the six cops. No, they wanted Kelly DEAD.

Kelly was screaming in pain and saying that he was SORRY and asked God and his Dad to help him, over and over and over. The cops CONTINUED TO TASER and KNEE DROP and BASH IN Kelly’s HEAD EVEN AFTER HE WAS MOTIONLESS, UNCONSCIOUS and UNRESPONSIVE!!

The cops “struggled” and SUCCEEDED in MURDERING Kelly Thomas.

You said, “…These kinds of struggles are not typically seen by the public…” Then I say it’s about damn time these “struggles” ARE seen by the public!! Put video recorders on each and every officer if that’s what is needed to keep them from murdering and abusing!!

It’s time for the murdering and abuses of citizens and the resulting law enforcement coverups, rewriting and rewriting and rewriting of reports, tampering with evidence, silence, excuses and the impunity from disobeying the very same laws that you officers supposedly vow to uphold TO END!!

If this threatening, bullying, murderous, illegal, Constitution violating, civil rights depriving, morally bankrupt behavior is “routine” as you say, then the FPD MUST be DISBANDED.

    2. “These kinds of struggles are not typically seen by the public”
      ^
Well than I guess it is a good thing the gov’t is spending boat loads up money to put CCTV cameras up everywhere. Now we get to see these so called routine “struggles” where people die.

      1. However, I DO believe that the video was tampered with and altered to decrease visibility and clarity. I’m hoping this will come out in trial and be testified to by the anonymous witness.

        1. Possible they altered it, sure, but i suspect McCueball would have to pay someone to do that.
More often than not, it is the PTZ operator that would simply pan away or zoom out so as not to catch any police wrong doing. Not the case here, the operator flipped on audio and tried to stay with them as best they could (trying to avoid the tree etc).

          1. Oh yeah these criminals have learned their lessons from this. You’re never going to see a Kelly Thomas incident on a city controlled camera ever again.

        2. This was so hard to find but I did it!! Someone named “Kodos” posted this back in August 2011 which supports your theory…

Looks like he or she only posted it twice and didnt post any verifiable details but it is an interesting statement.

A senior DA investigator took the original and only copy of the video home for “safe keeping”. Its widely known among the investigators working the case that he used a video editing program on a personal computer to greatly reduce the resolution of the video and darken the contrast.

He used a personal computer because he did not want to face the possibility of another agency recovering the original video from his DA computer.

The video was altered prior to them sharing it with federal investigators.

          1. If that is the case, couldn’t the FBI get a sample from that same camera at another time during the night to get a comparison to demonstrate the difference?

          2. This theory is kind of silly, in my opinion. The visual quality of the July 5th video is on par with the sample videos linked above. Occasional autofocus adjustment is expected in low-light situations. The relatively minimal artifacting is easily explained by the digital encoding/compression methods typical in security DVRs, and even more so by the re-encoding of the footage on the press DVDs and then once again by uploading the clip to YouTube.

            1. It might be “silly” in a sane and honest world; however, I don’t put anything past them. This should be investigated by a professional, disinterested, third party expert.

              1. JFA you need help. Counseling. Meds. Something. You really aren’t all there at all. You have serious mental issues.

                1. What is so nuts about questioning the video produced by the authorities that are connected to the ones on trial? lets see. They have the deep pockets, the toys, the connections and in my opinion, the moral compass of a urinal. Do you know what the term “conspiracy theory” means in the year 2012? It means an unspeakable truth.

        3. We the People should request a sample video clip from the same camera. Perhaps with one of us watching it happen. It would then be obvious if the beating clip has been manipulated.

  11. Upon closer examination…..too bad a photo was not taken of pie faces fingernails, you would find the scab that he scraped off to get a little trickle of blood for the camera. hold your arm at a 45 degree across your chest, I would say the “bright” area is same size, width as your fingernail

  12. contrast Ramo’s minor scrape with Kelly Thomas’ face after Ramos and fellow officers beat him. Contrast FFFF blog site and responsible media’s justified outrage to the horror of kelly thomas badly beaten face and body with fullerton city council person Pat McKinley’s support of Rusty Kennedy’s ad hoc committee to increase police and community sensitivity to fullerton’s mentally ill, homeless population. rusty kennedy only should apply his ad hoc committee on the mentally ill to ramos scrape instead of using it to cover up the smashed face and body of kelly thomas.

  13. Your right, van, to present this scrape as some sort of justification for the brutal murder Of Kelly is beneath contempt.

    1. The only thing I read was a quote from her in a crappy slanted Lou Ponsi article in which she said something to the effect of, “I’ll be happy if all the facts come out.” Now that’s a comment I have read around here a million times.

    2. I was there but I was crying quietly with my head down, so I didnt notice. I dont see how anyone could laugh at Kelly screaming and calling out for help, unless you are just mentally ill.

If she was laughing it was quietly, the judge was not tolerating outbursts of any kind and admonished people to hold it together.

    3. My observation was that it was more of a nervous smile that you might get when you know you’ve been caught with your hand in the cookie jar.

  14. I heard that the state inmates really have an affinity for the chubby ones that sport mustaches. Protective custody is no guarantee. Ramos is a little too large to slip through the cracks here. 🙂 Even if he slipped through chances are good that whatever was on the other side of the crack (no matter how desipicable) would spit him back out again. 🙂

    1. I believe the jailhouse mantra is…

“There is no greater joy than a fat bottom boy.”

  15. I watched the video this morning and I was just sick. And to hear the defense argue that it’s the paramedics that caused his death makes me want to vomit. Kelly was cyanotic at the scene – he was blue – he wasn’t getting oxygen – the medics were trying to clear all the blood out of his airways. Yeah, the medics did it

And then to hear those low life scum cops stand around talking, saying how out of control Kelly was, how he’s still fighting when he’s laying on the ground not making any sound – and then to hear another officer clearly state that his arm is out of control from all the tasing, my heart breaks for the Thomas family.

  16. Oh and another thing…Ramos early in the video says he’s having to talk to Kelly every night, so he obviously knows who Kelly is. Then they start running through a list of names, and Wolfe even says his name is Kelly Thomas, then they start harassing Kelly about who he is, and they will let him go as soon as they figure out who he is. Such disgusting displays – those cops were bored and on a power trip!

    1. That’s exactly what I was thinking, Sara. Also, regarding them saying they’ve been having to talk to him every night…WHO was calling the FPD on him *every* night?! Slidebar? Were they just getting bored with having to deal with him and decided to finally take care of it?

      1. Play the tape again and listen….

        1) Did the name “Kelly Thomas” get spoken in a QUESTION form directly to Kelly seeking confirmation of his name?

        2) Did Kelly respond in the affirmative with yeah or yes, (something to that affect)?

  17. Lekawa was at the medical center when paramedics brought Thomas there in a “comatose state.”
“Comatose State” could mean he was sort of dead when he arrived? was his heart still beating on his own? Only Lekawa can tell us that. http://wn.com/Lekawa

  18. FullertonGirl65 :That’s exactly what I was thinking, Sara. Also, regarding them saying they’ve been having to talk to him every night…WHO was calling the FPD on him *every* night?! Slidebar? Were they just getting bored with having to deal with him and decided to finally take care of it?

That may be the link to the phony “report of someone breaking into cars, as far as I can recall, calls to fpd were looked into for the night of the Murder, has anyone ever looked back a little farther, maybe 2 or 3 weeks?

  19. I remember so many troll comments stating with absolute certainty that the charges would never stick!

    1. Ya, those family menbers loosing their bread winners. Looks like they gambled on a fart and lost.

  20. What do you mean to trial they go? The judge was to make a written decision. Did you in fact hear the judges decision orally today?

  21. God bless Kelly, the Thomas family, FFFF and everyone who supported the cause of justice…….On to the TRIAL!!!!!

  22. I bet Ramos is a wife beating drunken, look how fat he is. Looks like a looser to me. I bet his wife puts up with the abuse for the benefits he gets from his job. How many codependents go along with that behavior? The only reason she probably doesn’t speak out is because she needs part of his income. I bet his 1st wife is terrified she will lose her child support checks.

“For the love of money is the root of all evil.”

    1. I think his family may also have a hand in his behavior. If they considered him a means to an end, in which the end is money, then I can see how he could end up a dehumanized angry killer.

  23. CiCi is in Security? who hired him? Ramos too?

Did I just hear on the new that the OC sheriff may absorb the FPD?

        1. That makes me happy…. It has been a long time coming. It’s not like the Brea PD has been doing any Police work anyway.

        2. This going to be an interesting ride. The defense is going to do their damnedest to throw Kelly under the bus, Again. …. All we can hope for is that we get a jury with reasonable IQs. The justice system is currently weighted on the side of the murderers. They get all the rights and you know that both officers are enjoying all this attention right now. They are still riding a high from last July. I see Ramos sitting in court and man does he look smug. Obviously he doesn’t care that a man died on his watch. To protect and serve? Serve yourself.

          http://www.ryanickonline.com/Fatherhood_Is_Not_For_Wimps/Our_Blog/Entries/2011/8/6_When_a_Father_Loses_a_Son.html

        1. Interesting. I know there was talk about how it SHOULD be taken over by Sheriff Dept, but never any news that it IS going to be. Was this on KFI?

  24. whats his weight have anything to do with it? and now everyone thinks the videos altered? special effects? come on now don’t act so childish stone casters.

  25. Manuel Ramos and Fullerton cops look a lot more like Mexican gangster and city officials are more like drug lord.
Fullerton deserved what they voted for.

  26. Someone needs to juxtapose his little cut to Kelly Thomas’s beat and battered face. This scumbag needs to get some kind of terminal disease

    1. That was an evidence picture. It was documentation..butthole. Wishing awful things to someone not very good…karma!

  27. Buddy Ferreira :
whats his weight have anything to do with it? and now everyone thinks the videos altered? special effects? come on now don’t act so childish stone casters.

Sounds like you’ve lived in a little fantasy bubble all your life, as well as anyone else who sees the video and then starts trying to make excuses for the pigs. I personally didn’t need to see the video to know they murdered him. Kelly arriving at the hospital a lifeless pulp should be enough. But to see the video and STILL not be convinced shows that you lack the ability to process basic information. Morons like you are too abundant.
