Barry Coffman: FPD Has A Cancer

Yep, he said it. In reference to his own union member, Benjamin Lira.

Listen to the Barry Coffman interview on KFI, here. Scroll to the 23:40 mark and enjoy the Fullerton cop union boss try as hard as he can to bad-mouth a dues paying member of the FPOA!

First he says Lira is on the way out, a POBAR violation if uttered by anybody in authority; and of course after the embarrassing question about how come he isn’t defending his union member, and an awkward pause, we learn from Barry that Lira is a real malcontent, a cancer in the presumably healthy body tissue of the FPD. Which is pretty hard to swallow given the evident  Culture of Corruption in the department.

Comically, Coffman asks us who are we to believe, his own man, or the upstanding Michael Gennaco Report – a bucket full of pabulum coughed up by a paid hack in order to whitewash the felonious FPD and its command structure.

Say, what’s going on here? A union boss siding with management? Huh?

In response to the tricky question about how come his union didn’t bail out Ramos, Coffman (after another painful pause) exclaims that he and his boys just wanted the justice system to play out, a non-answer if ever there was one. He does admit that when the Thomas murder hit he and his fellow FPOA leaders were completely useless. We do know that they came onto this blog to post vulgar obscenities.

It’s hard not to relish the delicious double standard of the oh-so-ethical Barry C who never said a single word in public about Todd Major, Kelly Mejia, Albert Rincon, Vincent Mater, Kenton Hampton, Frank Nguyen, Cary Tong or any of the other FPOA miscreants whose behavior has been so amply demonstrated on these pages.

  1. When you have someone such as FPOA Union President Barry Coffman, who is supposed to be tending to the needs of the rank and file, and he’s instead attending the City Council meetings all summer long to try and persuade the City Council to hire existing management, you’d have to be an idiot to NOT know that something is seriously awry.

    1. I will provide admin a copy of the emails I sent Barry where I allegedly “threatened” him. I told him to resign bcuz I think EVERYONE who was in a position of authority should of resigned because ALL of them failed in their positions as leaders; Sellers, Hughes, Basham, Coffman, Mckinley, Bankhead and Jones. The “throwing under the bus” was reference his extra marital affairs while his wife is at home in Oceanside raising his two girls. Eventually after decade long affairs your personal life comes to light like mine has. I will address ALL these topics in future interviews, etc. My offer still stands though, resign!

God bless you and please god forgive me for casting stones!

      1. Benjamin — as a plaintiff’s employment attorney, I think I ought to ask you something: does your attorney know that you’re commenting here?

That’s all I’m going to say here.

          1. I moved out of the STATE 6 months ago. Where do you think it is I wanted to go? Back to Fullerton? Lol…. And just so everyone knows the accuracy and timing of the smear campaign against me leads me to believe FPD management and FPOA. Officers at the PD don’t blog on this site. I know for a fact Coffman, Goodrich, Schoen, Cheblowski and one officer(don’t want to name him yet) blog on this site. Hughes reads it and Crum’s too dumb to figure out how to blog. The citizens of Fullerton should also know the city manager and acting chief paid me to stay home for the last 7 months to keep quiet. Hmmm, where they trying to sway an election? I’m still not allowed on city property or at the PD and you’ll know when I’m officially gone bcuz I’ll be speaking at the city council meetings.
            God bless

            1. Dude – not a good idea. Stay away. Worst thing you can do is grandstand. You may be basking in all love you get from hard-core FFFFers; but it will do you no good. Mellow out and get a good atty.

            2. God bless…what a joke Lira. Did God tell you to beat your wife? You have been a piece of crap and cancer for a long time. Be honest and dicuss your recent arrest …

              1. Lira’s drunk wife attacked him, of course who are the cops going to believe. Come on Barry, you have been to domestic violence calls.

              2. I hardly consider being asleep with my two boys and being woken up at 3am by a druken wife domestic violence. In addition to that my visible injuries prove otherwise. And on November 11th the Las Vegas DA sent me a letter saying they weren’t filing charges. I immediately sent this to G.E.D. Sgt Diaz(he actually does have a GED) and guess what, poof just like that the same DA on November 14th now decided to file the case… See even someone with a GED can get a DA to file a case… Admin contact me and I’ll give you copy of the Police report. Any other questions Barry? If so save them for the FPOA Xmas party Dec 14th at the Elks lodge(oops, did I say that)
                God Bless.

          2. City workers that steal homeless possessions are disgusting.

            AMENDMENT IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

        1. Just a fair warning about Greg Diamond.

Do not share any information with him, do not retain him, do not take advice from him and do not let him refer you to anyone.

He has always sided to the likes of Dan Hughes and while everyone was talking about the recall at City Council, he was taking up time talking about pot shops.

He is deeply entrenched with the status quo of this city and I have no doubt that whatever you share with him in confidence will be passed along to your detriment.

If you are to hire an attorney or get advice (which I highly recommend), make sure the person is not associated with the Fullerton insiders also I trust the OC Weekly over the OC Register and stay the hell away from Fullerton Stories.

Over time you’ll see what I mean.

And yes he’s probably going to start posting all sorts of legal threats once he sees you’re not buying into whatever he’s selling.

Just ignore him and he’ll go on about his business of …nothing.

          1. “Just ignore him and he’ll go on about his business of …nothing.”……… Hmmmm

Caveat: I doubt it will help against the Backstabbing Golem #256598.

The Backstabbing as in biblical Judas Iscariot who was, according to the New Testament, one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ.

He is infamously known for his kiss and betrayal of Jesus to the hands of the chief Sanhedrin priests in exchange for a payment of 30 pieces of silver.

    2. So true FL. I never even heard of Barry Coffman until that infamous horn-honking citation he issued to a driver honking his horn in favor of the protest for his incompetent and poorly McKinley trained cops beating a mentally ill homeless man to death. It wasn’t until about a month or two after that when I noticed him in the audience (in plain clothes) at the council meetings. He’s obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer and I’d bet his reputation is on the line amongst his peers after his rant on KFI.

  2. ANY cop who can’t meet the physical standards today as they did when the joined the force is PATHETIC.

  3. Lira’s complaint was about management, he didn’t say anything about his union.

I have never ever ever seen a police union defend management while smearing their own ranks.

Not only does Barry the Bovine discuss Lira’s employment status which violates his rights, he also threatens to release confidential legal and personnel information on air and then a short time later arrest records for Lira are posted here.

Barry should resign immediately and other police unions should be decrying this, its obvious Mr. Bovine’s allegiance is with management.

Think about it, if any officer turns to the police union with a complaint against management, Barry the Bovine could very well pass the information off to management and work with them on smearing that officer.

    TOTAL CONFLICT OF INTEREST!

  4. Serious Joe for what’s it’s worth, I’ve been watching this type of stuff for close to 30 years. This is good FODDER for those who are paying attention.

I have NEVER EVER seen a union president throw one of the own under the bus this quick or in this fashion EVER.

This is beyond imagination and the desperation and corruption might be more than we even know.

If Lira was the POS that Coffman and the other FFFF cop trolls here would like us to believe, they SHOULD have set the tone MANY months ago.

I could be wrong, but in the union world under the circumstances this might be a historical case on the union breeching it’s “fudiciary duties” against a member.

If Coffman and the other members of the “mangina” crew didn’t seek SERIOUS legal advise before doing this, I hope it bites them in the butt.

For a few extra bucks the likes of the union law firm of Silver,Hadden&Silver would clearly give the nod on throwing Lira under the bus.

Of course who will benefit from this bogus legal advise would surely be SHS. If Coffman did this on his own or at the behest of Danny Boy, let the FIREWORKS begin.

All you have to do is guage what Coffman hasn’t said to date, and what he says now.

Simple, ONLY Lira has the problem within FPD, no one else according to FAT BOY Coffman.

    PRICELESS!!!

    1. fiduciary responsibility generally refers to financial behavior; example – Citron breached his fiduciary responsibility many years ago with his investment schemes

That said, if the Big Cough releases personnel info, when employer’s are not allowed to, then he is just a slug and what he does will come back to bite him in his derriere!

    2. Lira is fired and has no fight. He knows his time as a cop is over. He played his play book backwards. As Fred says, GED cop at the finest.

    3. I don’t know, ACU. Lira’s exposure of what went on between the FPD and Fullerton College sounds like a ditto to the San Bernardino County POST scandal. The union not representing the rank and file, kissing ass to the heirarchy, and using the union leadership as a stepping stone into management has been exposed by you and others in San Bernardino County.

Certainly there is a stunning speed and desperation in Fullerton evidenced by how Coffman attacked Lira, while in San Bernardino County, things took years to bring to the fore.

However, the years of work done in San Bernardino County is now coming to fruition in Fullerton. Fullerton was thrust under the microscpe by the Kelly Thomas killing. This in a city with a fairly elite populous compared with the general population of unincorporated San Bernardino County.

The San Bernardino County POST scandal has been established. Lira’s simple claim does not require the establishment of a new scam, it requires Fullerton college and FPD to show that they are not part of the same old scam.

The union abandonment of Lira does not have to be shown as a new thing, it only has to be compared with your union’s abandonment (or misrepresentation) of you.

Don’t think that Fullerton does not know who you are. I have been spending the better part of a year trying to convince them that they need to listen to you.

And, of course the FBI office of public integrity that examines San Bernardino County is the same office that examines Fullerton. Perhaps we should assume that they are too dumb to recognize patterns?

No wonder Barry sounds nervous. I would be nervous if I had any position of influence in fullerton. And of course, I grew up around people of influence in Fullerton.

        1. The beginning for me was the civil rights issues of 1964 when I was eight years old. Our side lost 2-1 in the state and 3-1 in Orange County. But Governor Edmund G Brown sent my mother a thank you letter for her efforts. The California Supreme Court backed us up, and my uncle’s, and later my cousin’s career in civil rights were born.

My interest in elective politics began at Golden Hills School when the son of then future Orange County Supervisor Ralph Deidrich got into a heated arguement with the son of then future U.S. Copngressman Bill Danemayer over what their fathers had said about each other at breakfast following the Fullerton City council meeting the night before. I determined that I had better start reading the newspaper that I was delivering if I wanted to keep up with my younger classmates.

The Kennedies, of course, Ward, Wood, Norby, I interviewed tho whole council and all of the council candidates in one election. And then the many many people who are not officials but have roles in the real life of a city.

  5. It will also be interesting to see what the other cop unions in the area will do if anything based on Coffman’s actions.

The REAL cop unions SHOULD distance themselves like Coffman has a disease in light of the already serious internal issues.

If another union president hasn’t called Coffman and said WTF you THINKIN Barry?

Orange County law enforcement is in a serious crises.

ONLY a fool would work for FPD after this. BUT there are plenty of fools seeking to wear a badge even if it’s FPD.

    1. ACU you aren’t very smart. Other unions haven’t said a word about FPD or FPOA since Kelly. Why would they now? They could care less what happens in Fullerton. Use your half brain.

      1. ACU you aren’t very smart.

Of course, this is coming from the guy who conflates the Kelly Thomas beating with the FPOA union president defending and siding with management over corruption claims and no only that, threatening to release damaging information on the cop who blew the whistle.

You see my dim bulb friend, the unions are expected to defend police officers in claims of abuse so I wouldnt expect them to comment on the Kelly Thomas beating but they’re not expected to defend management while throwing their own member under the bus over claims of mismanagement.

        Lets go over it again.

Kelly Thomas beating = Personnel issue

Ben Lira’s complaint = A labor vs. management issue.

The FPOA is supposed to defend officers NOT management. I’m sure many police union members and high ups cringed listening to Barry on KFI and I wouldn’t be surprised if he issues a retraction or clarification on the radio as early as Monday.

          1. And I suppose Barry Bovine conducted a thorough investigation to come to that conclusion. An investigation so thorough that he failed to mention it during the interview.

            Plain and simple.

You forgot your other original cliches like “Apples and Oranges” and of course “Dollars to donuts”.

              1. Is Lira a GED cop that never got promoted cause he is too dumb?

No, you’re probably thinking of Barry. Lira was promoted several times during his 17 year career.

                Or are GEDs ok now?

Depends on who you ask. I never agreed with the assertion that people with GEDs make bad cops. It’s like saying high school grads make horrible soldiers.

          2. FPOA is not required to defend if they want the guy out. There’s a supposedly real good ex-LAPD atty in Bev Hills, can’t recall his name. If you’ve got the $$ go with a top flight criminal atty and scare the shit out of FPOA and DA.

            1. Not defending is quite different from working with management to smear him especially when his complaint is about management not other officers.

We’re way past the issue of defense and representation.

        1. Lira should have consulted ACU first. Then Lira could at least be disgruntled with a stress retirement. Same careers. Both disgruntled and could never get promoted so they bail and blame the bosses. Standard move. Weak sauce.

          1. Standard move. Weak sauce.

I can’t help but notice that you use a lot of line liners and cliches to fill in space.

Maybe it’s because you have a very limited vocabulary.

        2. Barry stuck his foot in his mouth. “We have never been through this before”. How about asking other agencies. Maybe like LA, they have been through this kind of mess before. You just didnt give a rats ass Barry about your so called brothers. Not you or any other adminstrator at FPD. You are a pathetic little man hiding behind Hughes.

      1. It was funny.. Last Friday at the courthouse we were in the elevator and there was two duputies in there. One of them said. Ron Thomas got in the elevator and I got out. Then someone asked him, “Wasnt he a Deputy Sheriff?” And eveyone in the elevator laughed, even guys from the DA’s office.

        1. How much do you want to bet that those same OC deputies and DA’s investiators were talking trash about you and the Fullerton PD after you got out of the elevator?

          1. Goes to show how little you know about the disdain that the OCSD have for Ron Thomas’ claiming to be one of them. They wouldn’t even ride the elevator with RT. Everyone had a good laugh about the fool that is Ron Thomas.

Even the media sees him for what he is; a self-righteous, self-serving, lying, pompous ass.
Everyone is just giving him enough rope to hang himself.

            1. “Ooooh! The OCSD doesnt like Ron Thomas. They talked about him in the elevator…” …yeah, so?

Seriously its like talking to a 10 year here.

Everyone is just giving him enough rope to hang himself.

Ron could dance around the court room naked while screaming out racial epithets. It doesn’t change a thing in respect to what happened to Kelly or the culture of abuse and corruption Lira is exposing.

              1. I was addressing Fullerton Lover’s statement. One thing is the lying sack of shit that is Ron Thomas and another is the bogus case against the officers.

I’m all for exposing the Culture of Corruption. It’s about time.
I support Lira 100% and consider him a modern day hero.

Don’t put it past RT to dance around the court room naked while screaming racial epithets.

                1. One thing is the lying sack of shit that is Ron Thomas and another is the bogus case against the officers.

Expand on this. Do you think it was wrong for the DA to file charges or do you think the changes are weak?

            2. I didn’t say one way or another whether or not the OCSD has any sort of disdain for Ron Thomas.

What I did say was that while you were all talking trash behind someones back like the cowards that you are, you should also realize that those same people are going to be talking trash behind your back as soon as your not around to defend yourself.

              Goes with the territory.

              1. Well lets address the disdain that the OCSD has for Ron Thomas. It’s a fact. Who does that lying sack of shit think he is claiming to be one of them. We have told Ron that and more.

You are one to talk about talking trash behind someone’s back. You have done that and more.

                1. This blogs motto is talk shit behind everyone’s back. That’s how everyone learned to do it so well on both sides. Like verbal war.

                2. You sound like a bunch of giggling school girls having a cheap laugh at a grieving father’s expense.

                  Real men huh?

  6. Nope no medical either. You FPD coppers and cheerleaders
    don’t get much right.

Must have been in the same academy
    class as Rincon.

    1. Never know. Remember when you were a new Deputy and you used to tell gangsters you will take off the badge and gun and fight it out? Then you show one in the back cause you were scared. Rough job. We are paying you now.

      1. Bring it anytime Barry. Eat at Mickey D’s though, you’ll need the energy.

No firearms needed for you, just a little time before you pass out from being a large marge trying to play Mohammad Ali.

      1. I am not smart. My vocabulary is limit. I am man of house. Smack wife not fixing dinner. Divorce. Anger. Lonely. FFFF. Post!

  7. I heard both Lira and Coffman live on KFI. I have an answeer to Coffman’s question about why we should believe Lira over Gennaco.

Any journalist, any investigator, any historian is educated not to rely on the summation of any other intellectual but to go independently to the source data if available. Lira is source data.

Lira’s information will be scrutinized. If he is truthfull, he is truthfull. If he is a liar, he is a liar. If he has accumulated evidence to build his case, it will be evaluated. If his opinion is subjective only to his own point of view, that will be establshed. If his opinion is sbjective to the culture of FPD as a whole, that will be established.

In no way will Lira’s personal knowledge, pespective, and opinion be affected by Gennaco’s overview of the Fullerton Police Department.

On the contrarty, Gennaco’s overview of the Fullerton Police Department will be judged by whether or not it incorporated the knowledge, perspective, and opinion of Benjamin Lira.

    1. Well said. I predict Lira will disappear and we won’t hear much from him in the future. He knows its his opinion with nothing to back it up. A decrease in calls after the Kelly incident is normal and expected and saying that is due to morale related to a culture of corruption is far fetched. Time will tell.

      1. .Does less calls mean lessoning of trouble in the community?morale on the streets seems to be better on the post Kelly incident.Police seem to be more respectful of the homeless. I look forward to hearing from benjamin Lira at the city council meetings. http://www.wsati.org/lira01.jpg

      2. FYI…I tried to get a restraining order against the Fullerton PD in the Spring of 2011.

The Judge told me that it was legally impossible to do if an officer(s) was/were acting in an official capacity.

        1. LOL ……that is the funniest thing I ever heard!

You gotta expose the corruption but what you tried to do is just an ego trip.

          1. Just protecting my family.

Violence is the last refuge of incompetent, and I think that we can all agree that FPD offivers have proven themselves incompetent on a couple different levels over the past couple of years, and I don’t need incompetent and violent people whom are carrying weapons around my children.

              1. But you can be high around your children and that’s ok?

You thugs have no problem being drunk and smacking your wives around in front of your children.

        2. Correct. You will never get one. You will also never get a pitchess motion granted for fun like ACU says. Lost people with lost dreams.

      3. I predict Lira will disappear and we won’t hear much from him in the future

You’ll be sitting in Federal prison the moment you even think about it Barry Boy.

He knows its his opinion with nothing to back it up

You think a detective with 17 years of law enforcement experience is suddenly going to start posting under his real name on a blog that you guys monitor very closely yet have nothing to back up his claims?

Lira knows how the game is played but apparently you don’t.

      4. Lira has plenty of documentation and he isn’t going anywhere. Lira is Hughes’ worst nightmare. The shit is going to hit the fan! Time Will Tell.

    2. Good point. Plus, Gennaco focused on the KT murder and its aftermath. He even gave FPD a pass on the rancid Rincon fiasco.

Gennaco only has credibility among the politicians and FPD creeps who paid for the whitewash.

    1. John Doe is also Timewilltell. Another semi-literate, GED embarrassment to the public school system. Lol!

  8. I absolutely love it when these low-life thugs eat their own. This Lira fellow sort of reminds me of Serpico. It can’t be any fun to be in his position. Like a chunk of meat thrown into a pool of pirana. My heart goes out to him. The pigs support murderers with badges while viciously attacking the ones who expose wrongdoing within their department. Reminds me of the Tijuana Municipal PD. Good luck, Ben. Stay strong, buddy!

    1. I don’t think Serpico is a good analogy. This is more like the Knapp Commission when a dirty cop decided to come clean. It was portrayed masterfully by Treat Williams in a movie called Prince of the City.

  9. “we learn from Barry that Lira is a real malcontent, a cancer in the presumably healthy body tissue of the FPD. ” Did Coffman actually refer to Lira asa a cancer? I get the gist of the above quote. Lira may have been perceived as a malcontent with a bizarre agenda no employer or person may meet to his satisfaction.
Yet, Lira’s discontent may have risen from his witnessing or learning about the frequent civil rights abuses his fellow officers inflicted upon the good people of Fullerton only to watch with dismay the machinations of his superiors at fullerton PD and Fullerton city council use to dismiss these same abuses.
Coffman seems to have callously discarded Lira. If Coffman was my union representative, I would feel very lonely when it came to representing and protecting my legal rights against abusive superiors

    1. Did Coffman actually refer to Lira asa a cancer?

Sure did. His own union brother is a cancer. Nice loyalty from Coffeecake.

  10. Greg Diamond :
Benjamin — as a plaintiff’s employment attorney, I think I ought to ask you something: does your attorney know that you’re commenting here?
That’s all I’m going to say here.

Hey Greg, more importantly, did Barry Coffman, the FPOA President talk to his council about commenting on KFI or here? If so, his attorney “aint’t too bright”.

  11. I listened to both interviews, LOVED how Coffman compeletly side stepped the issue of the cover-up after Hughes got to the scene.

If the KFI crew had REAL cop experience they would have pinned your butt down in a couple minutes of the interview.

Coffman said he wasn’t there, and NEVER had anyone come to him telling him about changing the police reports, “bullshit” Coffman.

I bet some would have LIKED to come to you, but they KNOW your a MANAGEMENT lacky wearing TWO hats and your a RAT.

You proved that on the interview. LIRA NEVER said a word about the UNION.

YOU should have stepped up to HELP Ramos as QUICK as you showed up to throw Lira under the BUS.

Lira’s statement is far MORE credible than your explanation.

EVERYONE knows Ramos an company worked another 4 weeks before being placed on admin leave, and ONLY after the story broke wide open.

And ALL Coffman can use across the board is Michael Gennacco’s report.

Guess what Barry, Gennacco wasn’t there either.

Lira HAS been there 17 years to see and hear what he says.

Gennacco had to listen to the likes of YOU, and he got paid $150k to write the report.

YOU POS Coffman you know damn good and well Ramos and crew got thrown under the bus to protect the likes of Hughes.

I like how you tell Bill Carroll Lira has a UNION lawyer, who might that be, Bill Hadden? GOD help Lira if he does.

Yea I can see Hadden telling Lira don’t say anything he don’t want anyone to know WHAT’s really going on either.

And now that Lira has named the FFFF trolls that come on here, well that seals the deal.

I REALLY can’t wait to see how much Barnett and Schwartz dig in Hughes butt at ANY POINT in the trial.

We can start of by asking “Danny Boy”, “isn’t it true Captain Hughes, YOU told my client EVERYTHING is ok after reviewing the video tape”?

“Isn’t it true Captain Hughes you told one or more of the officer involved in this incident they didn’t even need a lawyer”?

Lira if your reading this. IF YOU use a FPOA lawyer from Silver,Hadden&Silver YOUR toast if you go to Civil Service.

Just remember Lira, Michael Schwartz LEFT SHS for a reason. THINK about that.

    1. “Gennacco had to listen to the likes of YOU, and he got paid $150k to write the report.”

I also wonder whether or not FPOA gave Gennaco a little extra palm greasing to state ‘no Culture of Corruption within FPD’.

  12. Wrong Guy :
“Gennacco had to listen to the likes of YOU, and he got paid $150k to write the report.”
I also wonder whether or not FPOA gave Gennaco a little extra palm greasing to state ‘no Culture of Corruption within FPD’.

Gennacco did what he did because he hopes or knows other agency leaders will ask him to do their “independant report” if and when it comes to that.

Much like the present FPOA attorneys. Throw Lira under the bus by NOT asking the tuff questions of managment, they will have FUTURE business.

You really don’t think the lawyers go to Barry and tell him how the cow eats the cabbage do you?

Barry has the check book. They will kiss Barry’s butt.

My point it’s the LONG range goal of these lawyers and the Gennacco’s by playing the game the Union wants them to play.

I must say Gennacco might suck up to the City Manager types before he would a police union.

Gennacco might THINK about what he is going to say if he thought a union might call BS on him.

Coffman stepped on his DORK by coming on KFI, he should have just KEPT QUIET.

But Barry wants to get promoted just like Andy Goodwrench so he came to the AID of HIS DADDY, Danny Hughes.

If you think FPD won’t throw another one under the bus who back’s Lira’s play, think again.

Remember what Bill Carroll’s partner said about the phone calls and texts that were coming in as Lira was talking???

About 50/50 for and against Lira.

That’s the part that has the CROOKS within FPD a little nervous.

TRUST me Wrong Guy if another cop steps up, we will hear the same thing about that one too. Another CANCER that FPD should have taken care of years ago.

Those of us who know, have seen and heard this same ol story by guys like Coffman it isn’t funny.

And now that we know the FPD crooks who come in here and throw darts at folks like me, well that too tells a story.

Just look at the trolls who change screen names, their comments what they say, who they say it too and it should be obvious what’s up.

Almost better than Adolf Hitler’s brown shirts back in the 1930’s.

  13. E-TICKET :
I just hope Mr Lira is adequately represented. His wrongful termination suit, retaliation etc… will end up costing City of Fullerton millions.

Lira will need an attorney who will represent him in his Civil Service hearing and handle ANY civil action that might take place.

AND it won’t be a lawyer from the FPOA.

Lira if SHS handle your civil service case, THEY will screw you SO BAD in what they don’t do or say that it will impact your civil case.

PICK the RIGHT attorney NOW Lira or your TOAST dude.

EVERYTHING or most of what you tell your FPOA lawyer WILL find it’s way back to Coffman and crew.

Your attorney’s loyalty will be to who control’s the CASH, NOT YOU.

    1. How about Dimebag Diamond? He needs a job. Oh, that’s right he’s in bed with Chief Danny and the Establishment 1% and their Praetorian Guard,

  14. van get it da artiste :

Yes one can become disgruntled after seeing years of corruption.

One can become disgruntled when treated more harshly for their misdeeds, while watching other walk away uncharged who have committed more serious misdeeds.

It’s about the TRUTH of the matter at the end of the day.

Lira need to prove the DOUBLE STANDARDS that exsist in FPD and there appears to be plenty he will score big in the battle.

If Lira was a cancer as Barry says, WHY did he last 17 years??

  15. Totally supporting you, Ben. My gut instinct (which is pretty much always accurate), in addition to all of the FPD garbage we have witnessed, tells me you are being truthful, and my heart goes out to you for what you were subjected to.

  16. Remember when Sellers went on a cruise right after Kelly was murdered?
Remember that Stan Berry from the DAs office was on that cruise too?

  17. “If Lira was a cancer as Barry says, WHY did he last 17 years??”

BINGO! THAT’s the million dollar question which shows credibility on Lira’s part and incompetence and BS on FPD/FPOA’s part.

  18. Now if Lira was a piece of trash as Barry would have you believe, and it sounds like once FPD decided Lira must go for his email, THEY should have tried to prosecute him criminally if possible.

BUT when you do that, things become public and YOU CANNOT have that come out when you attempt to screw someone who is blowing the whistle.

If Lira was a BRADY COP, certified LIAR by the legal meaning, we would have already heard that from Coffman.

Since he launched the email it must contain the truth otherwise Lira would be a Brady cop since Lira did so in an official manner.

So, the administrative charges against Lira what ever they are was probably done in hopes of keeping most things under wraps, but still getting rid of Lira for breaking ranks.

Lira not hestitating to say he has had issues right out of the gate speaks volumns about his character. He admitted he screwed up.

But if FPD attempts to make light of his past issues to DOWNPLAY his whistle blowing issues, FPD should have dealt with him in a harsher way back then.

Whatever FPD throws at Lira as to character issues, they better have a WELL DOCUMENTED pattern of doing the same to others in a like situation.

Since Coffman put a TARGET on his own back with his comments to KFI, I’d be doing a “Pitchess Motion” on ol Barry to see what dirt might be in HIS PERSONNEL FILE..

Poor Barry claims Lira threatened him. GEE might there be ANY justification with that?

I didn’t hear Coffman tell KFI that Lira was disciplined for that threat either. It would have bolstered Barry’s comments.

Maybe Barry left out the important FACTS that justified the threat?

Maybe Barry pissed off a few of his brothers by sucking up to Hughes versus doing his JOB after the Kelly Thomas issue? Maybe Barry has his
OWN past skeletons to worry about.

We know Barry is chicken shit, he wrote his share of horn honking tickets. Barry don’t like folks challenging his bro’s who beat people’s ass.

If that’s true Barry, get the sand out of your mangina buddy, things sound like they are heating up.

You better be kissin some ass within the rank and file, don’t be playing Jimmy Hoffa, and try and intimidate anyone, YOU might get your fat ass kicked to the curb.

  19. Now for the FPD trolls that have come in here telling everyone Lira has NO SHOT simply because of the charges against him, or the mere fact he has been terminated.

YOU dummy’s have no clue, because you have allowed yourself to listen to others, you have no PERSONAL experience because you have spent so much time sucking ass to get promoted and covering shit up you didn’t take the time to educate yourself on some REAL world matters.

FPD can still be held liable for retaliation EVEN if they prove the charges against Lira.

The timing of Lira’s email, and his disciplinary issues are MAJOR red flags suggesting RETALIATION is alive and well.

The courts have ruled more than ONCE an employee does NOT need a smoking gun to prove retaliation took place.

The purponderance of evidence or 51% is all Lira needs to make his case.

And in light of the other FACTUAL cases that FFFF has brought forward on how FPD has handled other cover ups, employee issues, ie Rincon and Mater, is a CLEAR sign they will have their work cut out for them.

They should of fired the cop in the Van Meth case if they wish to paint Lira as a PROBLEM child.

Pick and choose who you wish to fire and discipline but when stuff like this come up, FPD has nothing but problems.

All it is going to take is a decent attorney who is willing to SLING some mud.

Lira here is a thought!!!! Go see the Thomas family attorney, he may give you a hug and buy you a GOOD cup of coffee.

    Just saying!!!!

  20. Oh and Mr.Coffman created a SERIOUS conflict for himself and the POA attorney.

Coffman would have to be subpoened to not only testalie against Lira, Coffman put the POA attorney is a tuff position of maybe having to beat up the POA President.

So Lira, if you have a POA attorney at this time, YOU have a clear right and JUST cause to declare a CONFLICT with PORAC LDF.

Just be careful with Ed Fishman LDF administrator, he loves to try and explain away such conflicts and he assumes YOU are stupid.

Don’t let them tell you Mike Stone is the real deal either.

    1. Hope that all is well with you AntiCorruptionUnit.

I just wanted to let you know that I thorouhly enjoy reading all of your insightful posts and admire your tenacity.

  21. MICKEY HALLER :
It was funny.. Last Friday at the courthouse we were in the elevator and there was two duputies in there. One of them said. Ron Thomas got in the elevator and I got out. Then someone asked him, “Wasnt he a Deputy Sheriff?” And eveyone in the elevator laughed, even guys from the DA’s office.

    Wow, AND that means what??

      1. Actually Mickey you’re the one who is a joke, and if this topic weren’t so serious I would be LMAOROTF!!!!!!!!

        1. Jane H :
Actually Mickey you’re the one who is a joke, and if this topic weren’t so serious I would be LMAOROTF!!!!!!!!

Go ahead Jane LYFAO…Get that cob out of your ass!

          1. Let us leave it at this. Everyone may think that Ron Thomas is a joke, but everyone is on the elevator to hear the case that he is pressing.

            1. Steve no doubt there are those who think Ron Thomas is a joke.

But many of those individuals would NEVER have the courage to bring forth the GREATER details of what happened on July 5, 2011.

There are many others who should be thanked for their courage on this incident.

There is no greater misdeed than MURDER.

To try and bring down Thomas is just another FPD mis-direction of the facts of the incident.

I cannot believe those who think bringing descredit to Thomas will bolster the defense of those charged in some way.

FPD and their minions have done everything they can to point fingers at EVERYONE but themselves.

All these LE personnel, their trolls here would have you believe these criminal charges should have NEVER been filed.

NO LE agency has had the courage to come out as a group and DENOUNCE the actions of the DA, Chief Hughes or anyone in authority.

That is because in REALITY they are SCARED. But they would like you to believe they are BRAVE.

Nothing like we saw in the Tyisha Miller case down in Riverside many years ago where more than a few cops came out in support of what was taking place against their brothers.

Seems the most courage we see from FPD personnel at the end of the day is RIGHT here on FFFF.

Instead of blaming Dan Hughes and others for allowing the culture of corruption within FPD to FESTER, then throw his own men under the bus once things heat up is beyond acceptable.

Lira’s comments are TELLING about what was being said and done the night of July 5.

Hughes was BACKING his men EVEN after watching the video. He told one cop he didn’t need a lawyer.

Hughes betrayed his own men to SAVE his butt. And some of YOU think Hughes is COOL because you talked to him.

That is just a telling a HORROR story within the ranks of ANY LE agency as the facts of the murder itself.

You really are a weak pathetic POS as a cop to allow that to happen and spend your time talking trash about Thomas and the others who are calling BS on the obvious.

And to believe the PERCEPTION that all LE is behind FPD based on elevator conversation is also LAUGHABLE.

Coffman’s comments to KFI about how the union decided to LET the judicial process take it’s course is a SLAP to those charged knowing full well Hughes threw them under the bus.

I hope some of you might remember I commented early on it appears those charged might have been thrown under the bus.

Make NO mistake I am in no way suggesting charges should not have been filed.

Well Lira has confirmed that. He knows and so does EVERY other cop in Fullerton what Hughes did and said that night.

And every cop knows what Hughes did 4 weeks later when the public become aware of the incident.

              And so does Barry Coffman.

Hughes should be standing tall before the People of the State of California just like the others.

His 4 week delay makes him an accessory to murder.

The DA and EVERY other investigator NOW knows what Dan Hughes did. They all know politics is covering for Hughes.

And it has become obvious Hughes has bullied his personnel into keeping their MOUTH SHUT or suffer the rath.

This conduct should not be ignored. It should be addressed with the same resolve as Kelly’s murder.

              1. Thank you for your insight, ACU. It really helps us understand the pathology of these people who post nonsense, dangerous nonsense.

              2. “This conduct should not be ignored. It should be addressed with the same resolve as Kelly’s murder.”

Which is why all this should be handled by the feds in Federal Court…As you stated in an earlier comment, Federal court does not allow the fun and games between attorneys.

  22. Since Lira has clearly placed his manhood out before god and country, knowing full well if he was that DIRTY the trolls would come out of the wood work trying their best to discredit him with FACT, I hope Lira will open up his civil service hearing to the public.

Lira and ONLY Lira can open up to the world the NORMAL CONFIDENTIAL goings on in a civil service hearing.

This is where UGLY stuff comes out, but those effected can HIDE behind confidentiality and still have a reputation of being COOL!!!

A place where Danny Hughes misdeeds could come full circle and the WORLD will know EVEN more trash and dirt about FPD.

If Lira has nothing to hide, and it CLEARLY appears he isn’t worrried at this time, hopefully he will allow the public inside his civil service hearing.

If Lira’s attorney discourages that, a RED FLAG will be flapping in the wind.

That too can be an education for all.

  23. Skull Abuse. :
And it sounds like Lira has given up on the job portion of his fight. If he was fighting it with an LDF attorney he wouldn’t be here until it was all over.

Not really, no rules that says Lira has to remain silent.

The attorney works for Lira, not the other way around.

  24. Skull Abuse. :
But since you are so smart you know all LdF attorneys are all on retainer by a POA. So what now? Pay on your own? Good luck with that especially with no case.

Since your smarter than me, NAME ALL the law firms that the FPOA has on retainer?

In case you didn’t know, PORAC has CONFLICT attorney’s. But LIRA has a right to pick ANY LDF attorney he wants under Government Code 3303(i).

But you can tell me otherwise Skull.

Especially with no case, how do you know he has no case, Captain Hughes put that out at briefing did he?

    Or are you Barry Coffman?

OKAY tell us what we don’t know starting will all those lawyers FPOA has then tell us about how Lira has no case.

No defense to the charges, no retaliation claim.

There was no murder on July 5, 2011 either, cause your Daddy told you so.

    1. All LDF attorneys are on retainer from a POA. Not FPOA. A POA. So all attorneys on LDF are related to POAs. Conspiracy in the end right?

Lira is done. LDF for his work portion only but he’s given up. With his criminal cases he knows his career is over.

        1. I’ll admit. It seems like when ACU and the O’Malley imposters are gone this place sucks lol. They are fun to play with.

        2. I miss you Fred. All your enemies have been blocked for a year so it’s been slow here. At least now that they appear back you can give then the GED middle finger lol

      1. LOL! It’s all about background checks and careers with you guys. You so wrapped up in your little bubbles that you can’t think beyond those two things.

Its so funny that the first thing you guys do is follow people around (as if that is supposed to be scary), then you start running background checks and releasing that information online as if anyone gives a crap anymore.

“Oooh! Look at what I found on his facebook!” …Give me a break!,

        Lira is done.

He’s not even in the state anymore but again its all about “Ooooh! He not a police officer anymore. Ooooh! Busted!” …you’re like grade school children.

      2. Lira should call Anthony Brooklier. Top flight criminal atty, but very expensive. But he might like the case because it target corrupt cops.

  25. Skull Abuse. :
All LDF attorneys are on retainer from a POA. Not FPOA. A POA. So all attorneys on LDF are related to POAs. Conspiracy in the end right?
Lira is done. LDF for his work portion only but he’s given up. With his criminal cases he knows his career is over.

NAME the attorneys by individual name or law firm that FULLERTON PD has for it’s members?

That was my question, NOW please answer it.

    1. Now if your saying that a member of Fullerton Pd can pick ANY LDf attorney in Southern California, then I apologize and say THAT is COOL.

      I’ll go from there.

    2. Silver Hadden Silver Wexler Levine. Can pick any of their crew. Bill Hadden. Steve Silver. Rob Wexler. Howard Lieberman. Susan Silver. Or others. You can also request others if LDF approves it. Otherwise that’s all FPOAs choices. LDF just told me all this on the phone when I called.

      Next?

  26. Rolling Hills :
This blogs motto is talk shit behind everyone’s back. That’s how everyone learned to do it so well on both sides. Like verbal war.

And to win at any cost. No matter who you need to stab in the back.

  27. Mocha Latte Espresso Please :

One thing is the lying sack of shit that is Ron Thomas and another is the bogus case against the officers.

Expand on this. Do you think it was wrong for the DA to file charges or do you think the changes are weak?

    BOTH.

  28. I foresee Danny Boy asking to be appointed chief of police once again. Gin Flurry will be the first to support him as a thank you to the boys in blue to have one of their own cover the tracks of Pat McPension. Then all will be well within FPD (according to Gennaco and Danny!) All this vitriol will settle down until the “accidental” happening of another wake up event! You see it over and over in corrupt police forces like Seattle and others where the Feds had to investigate because the city just could not figure out how to clean up its force! Maybe a few high dollar “settlements” will awaken the City Council and dormant City Manager or maybe it will be a cover up so egregious that the local clergy will actually speak up for the first time ever!

    1. The clergy speaking out? I heard that a large local church just hosted a tri-tip dinner for the entire city staff. Speak out? That would have been the golden opportunity with a captive audience. Everyone is in a delusion massaging each other while Rome is burns. May God help us.

    2. Maybe, Tuco. But it seems like there are an awful lot of shoulders against this door trying to force it shut. There has to be an incredible force on the other side that is keeping it open.

  29. Skull Abuse. :
It doesn’t. Brady isn’t Pitchess. You need to freshen up honey.

Brady is Maryland vs Brady and deals with lying witnesses to include cops.

Pitchess is a motion to get into a COPS personnel file.

YOU aint’ going to take me down skull, but you can keep trying cause your a blue boy who has a corrupt agenda.

  30. Brady is not just lying witnesses. It included any exculpatory information the “prosecution” has. In California the Brady process is accomplished thru Pitchess.

  31. Really :
Brady is not just lying witnesses. It included any exculpatory information the “prosecution” has. In California the Brady process is accomplished thru Pitchess.

    Yes that too is correct.

  32. Skull Abuse. :
So how does what you say make Lira Brady? That was my point. Did he lie? Or cause he beat his wife? Get it smarty pants?

If he was Brady from past or the current issues, Coffman would have thrown him under the bus during his KFI interview.

I am saying IF Lira was, someone would have said so. I didn’t say he was.

Cops love Brady issues if it fits their agenda and apprently that was not the case here.

    Nothing more on that.

  33. if lira is a cancer so Coffman can call himself god? what a stud!…..im sure jan flory and fitzgerald can fix all these problems. hail to chief hughes you are THE man….circus is back! cirque de fullerton…..

  34. People of Fullerton and Orange County. Police Departments are corrupt, not all officers, but many officers. Police officers are some of the most nepotistic, cocky, self-entitled individuals you have ever met. Tough individuals but some of the most detached human beings from society. I’ve seen with my own eyes some of the most selfish actions from those in law enforcement. They think, “I protect you, so you owe me, and I’ll take what I want.” Uneducated and with no accountability for their actions. Again, this is not all police officers, but there are many all over Orange County with this mentality. People need to wake up and realize that those protecting you are very deceptive people. How often do you see officers connect with the community or out in the community? Watch out people, be careful out there.

  35. John Doe :
Is Lira a GED cop that never got promoted cause he is too dumb? Or are GEDs ok now? Lol

Just look at this brilliance above. He probably doesn’t realize I’m being sarcastic.

  36. John Doe :
Well said. I predict Lira will disappear and we won’t hear much from him in the future. He knows its his opinion with nothing to back it up. A decrease in calls after the Kelly incident is normal and expected and saying that is due to morale related to a culture of corruption is far fetched. Time will tell.

Once again YOU John Doe have been proven WRONG…Benjamin Lira is hear to stay and you and your boys are going down. ‘Goin’ down now, goin’ down, goin’ down now, goin’ down.
That is the sound of your levy breaking. (Led Zep)
