Terror Warrior or Demagogue Punk?

It’s time to share a video that’s gotten quite a bit of attention lately. Apparently some Islamic organization or other put on a benefit in Yorba Linda to raise funds for women’s shelters, hungry people, and dirty bombs.

Oops! No, the dirty bomb part didn’t make it into the press release, but you wouldn’t know it by the reaction of the spittle-fleck mob of know-nothings and uber-patriots who showed up to shower abuse on little kids with epithets against their heritage and their religion. Of course the real reason we are sharing this is that our own congresscreature, Ed Royce, was at the event to lend legitimacy to the goings on and help whip up the rubes.

Royce styles himself some sort of expert on foreign affairs, but his posts on Red County are little more than neo-con half-truth claptrap that is spooned out to him in little bite-sized morsels by the pro-Israel lobby in Washington.

Royce seems to like to deploy his alleged expertise to enhance his stature, but really, exercising one’s Napoleonic Complex at the expense of women and kids is a new low even for Ed, who has saddled Fullerton with every dim-witted repuglican barnacle we’ve been stuck with for the past twenty years so he can play big frog in little puddle.

P.S. Actually the best part of the video is when wing-nut Villa Park councilcreature Deborah Pauly informs her listeners that she doesn’t care if people think she’s krazy or not. Well, that will certainly make things easier for her in the future, shame-wise. It seems her son is a Marine, and apparently he and his buddies are just itching to send some towelheaded terrorists to Paradise.

The audience doesn’t care if we think they’re krazy, either.

  1. So perennial right-wing Republican Santa Ana Mayoral candidate and prolific videographer George Collins doesn’t want us to see what Pauly, Royce and Miller had to say? Why is that, Mr. Collins? Can we see your unedited version instead, would that be more fair?

Most of us here have already seen this video over the last couple weeks. One high point was the crazed Deborah Pauly shrieking:

“Let me tell you what’s going on over there right now… make no bones about it, that is pure unadulterated evil, I don’t even care.. I don’t even care if you think I’m crazy any more .. because I have…..I have a beautiful daughter ….I have a wonderful nineteen year old son that is a United States Marine… as a matter of fact I know quite a few marines who will be very happy to help these terrorists to an early meeting in paradise”

Ed Royce decried tolerance and multi-culturalism (and later put out a statement praising and thanking Pauly) and all we saw of Gary Miller was a stupid comment that we need to continue to protect America from “those who disagree with us.”

And we’ll never forget the screaming drooling harridans and scumbags in the crowd and the poisonous insults, taunts and threats they shouted at the peaceful Muslim men, women and children.

I think Collins’ footage was of the politicians. He should allow us to see their unedited speeches, unless he finds them shameful AND also wants to cover for them.

  2. Just plain shameful behavior.

On the other hand, I really appreciate it when ignorant, xenophobic hypocrites “out” themselves on such a public stage. It saves me a lot of time wondering who not to vote for in the next election.

  3. ed royce is on the congressional committee for foreign affairs, hey, if anyone has an astute grasp on the never-ending saga called the war in afthanistan, it is ed royce because he has a degree in business from csu fullerton. so, royce must be an expert on the middle east and war or else he would not be serving on this committee

  4. Royce is a tool of the racist state of Isreal just like most all in Congress. That’s why he is still in office and on that committee. His allegiance to AIPAC and the Zionist entity is manifest in his blind leadership into the Iraq and Afghan wars. Its so easy to pander on Fox News to the ignorant right wing Christian jingoists who know nothing about history but are sure of their TV evangelist’s biblical interpretations- just send money so more Russians can pretend to be “chosen people”, live on US largess and drive natives out of Palestine. Their plan is to sacrifice America, for then they can all go to heaven.

  5. This is my introductory post… Special thanks to T from Bootleggers for introducing me to this site. I apologize for the delay.

To play devil’s advocate for a bit, and these devil’s could sure use an advocate, there is a legitimate issue at the root of the insanity filmed here. All groups that collect money to spend on behalf of their donors should be subjected to the highest level of transparency and accountability to their donors. Emphasis on donors.

The government’s role should be limited to effectuating this purpose, and if it succeeds, will also achieve its goal of ensuring the money doesn’t end up in the hands of those who wish us harm.

The issue is compounded when money is sent overseas. One doesn’t have to be experienced with Craigslist to realize that several seemingly legitimate groups exist only to fleece the savings of those who seek to benefit a legitimate cause.

Preventing force and fraud are undisputed governmental functions. However, so is protecting the freedoms of all US citizens to support whatever cause they choose to devote their dollars to.

If they want to spend the money on causes I wouldn’t agree with, such as abstinence programs to prevent teen pregnancy, that is their right. But the donors have both the right to spend their money as they see fit and to have a legal recourse to determine if their money is actually spent on that purpose, not to either line the pockets of terrorists or the charity’s founders.

This grain of truth behind every piece of insanity does not in any way condone the actions of these individuals. Quite simply, they assume every Arab or Muslim (which I would doubt the speakers, or the congressman for that matter, could differentiate between) is actively trying to funnel money to terrorists. Lost in their hysteria is the noble goal of helping those who are in a state of desperation.

If the mob had objective proof the money was being funneled to terrorist groups, or in any way violated a law of the US, this would be a different story. But shouting “Go Home!” hardly seems to make that point or espouse any position that most would associate with the US.

The beauty of the modern technological age is it provides a record to assist the “free market of ideas.” Like any free market, people should are entitled to their opinion, but they are also responsible for their actions. These individuals will be forever immortalized for their bigoted and intolerant behavior and hopefully they and their children will eventually feel some semblance of shame for their behavior.

The Congressman, on the other hand, should know better. As 1/435 of 1/2 of a branch of the US government, his actions represent us all. He should be held accountable for those he associated with and hopefully the voters of CA-40 will hopefully hold him accountable for his actions.

I’d include the US House of Representatives should do the same, but given current house leadership and political reality, I doubt that is likely to happen.

Is it too much to expect our public officials to be more like Atticus Finch?

    1. Apology accepted DBM Esq., “These individuals will be forever immortalized for their bigoted and intolerant behavior….”, boy you hit the nail right on la cabesa!

    2. I don’t think these goof balls were out there to demand transparency in accounting. You’re trying to attribute some rational, coherent message to a ding-bat rally

The only message I got out of this shameful display was that these ignorant Islamophobes and slack-jawed mouth-breathers lack what the rest of us call “shame” and “common decency”.

  6. Deborah Pauly:
“Go to 41:30 minutes to see the full content of my speech and not the 10 second blurbs the “editors” wanted you to see in that highly misleading 5 minute clip sent out. They are manipulating the minds of our young people by controlling the i…nformation they can or cannot see. You will also note that our stage is NO WHERE near the actual community center while the attendees are entering. Our event started at 4 p.m. Theirs started at 5:30 p.m. We allow you to see the full hour UNEDITED, if you want. We believe in COMPLETE freedom of speech and YOUR right to see ALL of what happened and decide for yourself what is the truth.”
    http://www.santa-ana.tv/

    1. More like around 42:30 until around 51:40. You get to hear nearly ten minutes of Pauly nuttiness. CAIR’s excerpting of her “high points” did not distort her meanings at all. Maybe she thinks we’ll like her better if we hear all her Old Testament quotes about God defending us, or her reminiscences of fighting Muslims 30 years ago in Mindanao when she was an “airman.” As she said, they used to wander into their camp at night and kill Americans “for target practice” … and now they’re doing THE EXACT SAME THING IN YORBA LINDA!

Sure, sure… watch the whole thing, then you REALLY won’t think Deborah is batshit crazy. NOT.

  7. White people are such dumb shits sometimes……and they have the unique distinction of both having built this country and overseeing it’s demise.

  8. Oh for criminy sakes Vern – come down off the ceiling.

No. 1 – I would not categorize George as a rightwinger, .. not hardly. And I don’t think that he would appreciate that very much.

No. 2 – The whole damn video is on George’s website – sheesh! Relax man – don’t blow a gasket.

    http://www.santa-ana.tv/

PS Vern: I am pretty sure that George is going to be pretty pissed off that you would insinuate that he would censor, edit or hold back anything. George is all about open government and open everything else. I think that you owe him an apology.

    1. It was all just questions Junior, I’m glad he has the unedited version up, and I didn’t intend “right-wing” as an insult. You’re the one on the ceiling.

    2. Easy, Dingus.

Who’s blowing a gasket here? All I said was that I wouldn’t vote for a reactionary looney tune like Ed Royce. Was that out of line?

Now why don’t you, Clem and Bubba crawl on back to the swamp? Mama’s got some critter stew on.

I’m still more afraid of rednecks than Muslims.

        1. Cletus, you ate your own dog. It’s time to ‘fess up like a man. You et that critter the winter the crick froze and you got all jacked up on meth..

    1. Even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while. Maybe someday even you will find your acorn.

  9. I doubt the protestors seen in this video are foreign policy experts on the middle east(southwest asia). this islamic function at the nixon library is not a fifth column, only in poor taste, poor timing event. this event was held prior to the wonderful uprisings in egypt, libya, yemen against their dictators. I sense the attendees of this event may not be supportive of these uprisings and I would be more impressed if the supporters of this event held a conference praising the democratic rebellions in the mid-east. the purpose of clevelands blog is to evoke contempt for pauly and royce and if this is all it is then why care about cleveland’s opinion

    1. How do you know the attendees at this event support dictators? Most imigrants in America are here to get away from dictatorial regimes. In any case it’s beside the point.

The point of the post was obviously to “evoke: contempt for Royce (Pauly was just an added bonus. Glad you caught that although the picture at the top of the post should have been a strong tip.

Really, though, Royce evokes contempt for himself. We at FFFF just like shining the light on his doings.

P.S. Royce is always criticizing Obama foreign policy. When Dems (and some Republicans) criticized GW Bush they were labeled traitors, with a capital T.

      Hmm.

  10. Royce is the little corporal that couldn’t. He has never had a real job and it’s about time we send him looking. Fullerton needs real leadership not someone that claims to be fiscally conservative and yet takes every penny possible from the public.

Royce owns two homes yet he is listed on the house in Fullerton and his wife is the owner in D.C. Yet another scam to take more money he doesn’t want you to know about!

    1. “He has never had a real job”

Another unemployable repuglican. Good thing the government safety net is there for Big Ed.

      1. He did work a few years as an accountant and he claims to have owned his own business. I couldn’t tell you what it did but that is what he claims.

  11. the patriot act, guantanomo, forever war in afghanistan, US military presence in Iraq and around the world, wall street bail-outs all have had bi-partisan support in wash dc. singling out R-royce while lauding d-obama or vice-versa is idling while the economy falls apart, more people thrust into poverty due to our incompetent bi-partisan senate, congress white house. if you want change you can believe in then we the people who are the government need to stop pointing the finger at each other,

      1. vern, then continue to present the whole picture and vote out the bi-partisan politicians who have sunk us in the quagmire called war on terror and the great recession

        1. Wrong. Liberals are supposed to act stupid, infringe freedom, and confiscate your money. Conservatives aren’t. Plus Royce and his ‘pug pals have dome their worst to stick Fullerton with a rogues gallery of incompetents, creeps, braying donkeys, and other non-entities. The latest is Pat McPension – a goon who spent the better part of 20 years going to city council meetings, but apparently learning nothing.

  12. “He has never had a real job”

That is bullshit – Royce has worked in the private sector and has owned businesses, made payroll and paid taxes.

    1. Really? Do tell. Royce has been in Congress for 20 years. What did he do before that. Just dying to find out!

      1. He was in the State Senate before that. Since the early 80s. He was such a successful businessman that he gave up on the private sector in his early thirties with nothing more to prove.

        1. That sounds like Royce, giving up on the private sector. No let’s get this straight he has always wanted to make a career out of being in politics. Made payroll? I guess if he was paying himself and his wife.

    2. Ed was training to be a Fuller Brush Man, but when the bigoted idiot, bafoon homophobe Danameyer decided to run for a higher office there was a pug opening for Congressman, and Ed foot the bill to a T.

  13. I still haven’t been able to find out how dependable war-hawk and valiant defender of the homeland Ed Royce managed to avoid service in Vietnam. I wrote about that a few Memorial Days ago…

We do know about Rohrabacher (phony hip problem, stayed home to surf) and recently Gary Miller (went to Army training, sent home for health reasons after a month or so) And at least Rohrabacher has turned against the Middle East Wars and the Patriot Act (maybe just because a Dem is Prez, but whatever)

But Ed Royce, Ken Calvert, John Campbell, someone still needs to find out how they got out of the service in Southeast Asia that most guys their age were drafted into. Especially since they’ve never voted on a war they didn’t want to send other folks’ kids to.

  14. Vern, my guess is that George Collins did not like the way CAIR spliced clips of his video in with their own footage of the protesters, so he used a copyright demand to have the CAIR version removed from YouTube.

Of course these folks never learn… the best way to make something popular is to try to remove it from the web.

I did notice that the original had over 600,000 views before it was taken down.

  15. Vern Nelson said:
“.. Collins does have the entire fingernails-on-chalkboard pre-rally on YouTube ..”

What do you mean by “pre-rally” Vern?

That WAS the entire complete uneditted rally – the whole enchilada. There was NO “pre-rally.”

    1. Whatever you want to call it. The hour of politicians’ speeches before the mob went over to yell at the Muslims. I’ll call it whatever you want to call it.

      1. Sort of like saying the pre-game pep talk isn’t part of the actual game.

The video may be patched together but the pieces tell a rather shameful tale.

      2. Vern,
the “mob” that shouted at the guests was a separate group of wing nuts altogether. You will not find in THAT group ANY of the locals who gave speeches or organized the event. I bet NONE of them live in North OC, but I can’t prove it.

You may not like DP for denouncing the Imams who support terrorism or their connections to terror groups like Hamas and Al Qaida but other people appreciate her willingness to say what so many others are too cowardly to utter.

The fact is that a small group of people behaved badly and none of them were the ones at the podium.

Lumping Pauly and Royce and who ever else into the same group as those yelling at the kids walking into the event is the same as accusing those kids of being terrorists simply because they are attending an event where terrorist supporters are to be the key note speakers.

CAIR only cares about about promoting Sharia Law and Islam as the only true faith; all non-Muslims are treated with violence.

  16. Travis,

The CAIR video was highly editted and biased – and they stole Collins video to form part of their propaganda. Leni Riefenstahl would be very proud of the propaganda job CAIR produced.

  17. It’s sort of funny. American foreign policy couldn’t be more successful at getting foreigners to hate our country – even though they almost always want to admire us.

Good God! What is it all about? It’s about how US interests have been inextricably tied up with a small country with no natural resources. This is defended by the lame and circular argument that this country is our only ally in the region. That’s exactly the problem!

When did foreign policy become so topsy-turvy that our best interests overseas are completely disregarded?

    1. “American foreign policy couldn’t be more successful at getting foreigners to hate our country – even though they almost always want to admire us.”

Stupid people think that W and Obama actually represent the USA. Moderately intelligent people realize politicians are empty suits. It is the open freedom they admire. That American dream.

  18. Comment said:
“He did work a few years as an accountant and he claims to have owned his own business. I couldn’t tell you what it did but that is what he claims.”

Goog gawd – I sure that he wouldn’t claim that if it were not true. There sure would be about 100 assholes who would look into that – we don’t need one more.

Glad we got that straightened out – now go check the employment/business status of every other member of congress, the Supreme Court and the Obama administration (oops, Big O never had a job) – get a frickin’ life!

    1. Well whatever he did he gave it all up 30 years ago to become a public employee. Been one ever since.

      1. Eddie was a bookkeeper for a cement company before he gave up on the private sector.

But, Hell, I would have got out of that ASAP myself.

  19. What I don’t understand is that these elected officials are elected. are they not worrying about alienating some of the people they represent?

    1. Not as long as it’s just a small, relatively powerless minority. Come on, (some) politicians have been doing this forever. That’s why the word “demagogue” is in the title of this post.

  20. The message the GOP needs to concentrate on is the economy/jobs/debt. My friends and colleagues had every right to protest at this event, but we need to focus like a laser on the economic front right now.

    1. Why the fr*@k would any of us want to “celebrate” that war-criminal neo-con torture authorizer? you’re just trying to piss everyone off now, junior. Back to the OJ.

    2. Rummy was 98% jackass. His “directness” was really little more than a weird blended narcissistic obscurantism.

Imagine at his age having to “write” his own apologia. Well I guess nobody else is.

  21. Royce endorsed our friend Thompson. How soon we forget. I bet he regrets that endorsement about now.

    1. You think Royce regrets endorsing the school board’s only conservative… because of a blog post written by somebody else about a terrorism rally in Yorba Linda?

      I’m not following.

    1. I like how we now have shill poster here trying to create a “record” of outlandish posts so the critics can point to it later and claim the site tolerates vile language and hate speech.

Next up is the shill compton claiming “see, Mad Nerd is allowed to spew hatred” and then bootstrasp that the whole site is full of mean racists. Nice try shills but we are on to you.

  22. This grain of truth at the back every piece of insanity does not in any way overlook the actions of these individuals. Quite simply, they suppose every Arab or Muslim (which I would doubt the speakers, or the congressman for that substance, could distinguish between) is actively annoying to funnel money to terrorists. Lost in their panic is the noble goal of helping those who are in a state of extreme anxiety.

    1. You are on crack.

The Imams already said many many many times that they support Islamic terrorism. Those were the peolple that debra pauly ed royce and gary miller were protesting.

  23. Vern,

Should you really be promoting a slanted, highly editted, biased and pirated propaganda video?

Video footage was stolen by CAIR from a person who is trying to make Orange County a better place by making public meetings available to the public.

You should be promoting George’s entire uncut uneditted video of the rally which is on
    http://www.santa-ana.tv

    1. I have been doing that as well, Junior. They are both important documents. Haven’t you been to the original OJ story recently? They’re both up there:

      http://www.orangejuiceblog.com/2011/03/the-video-everyone-is-talking-about/

By the way practically the entire nation has seen this thing now, it was even on the Daily Show last night. George should give up trying to stick this genie back in the bottle, and he should be glad that I’m also promoting his original unedited thang.

  24. “I have been doing that as well, Junior. They are both important documents.”

Vern is proud of his unethical behavior.

    1. I don’t feel unethical at all. There are always competing interests to consider. I think the highest is the public’s need to know what happened in Yorba Linda.

The CAIR video is edited of course, but it isn’t slanted or dishonest as you claim. And George’s name and logo is all over the parts that they borrowed (which constitute maybe 1/5 of it.)

When I talked to George he implied that he’s pursuing other legal avenues (which is why he didn’t want to say more.) Maybe a judge will rule against CAIR’s use here. But being a freedom-of-information type of guy, I think the public’s right to know outweighs all that. And George’s love of making “public meetings available to the public” obviously has its limits.

Also NEWSFLASH: The Villa Park Council is gonna have a closed session before their regularly scheduled meeting tonight to discuss Pauly’s behavior!
      http://www.villapark.org/Agendas-Minutes/2011/030911/agenda.pdf

      1. Ethics aint about how you feel! Ethics is what is the right thing to do even when no one is watching. For libs, that’s a tough nut to crack.

  25. Unethical?!!? The orangejuiceblog is the epitome of ethics now that Pedroza is gone and Sean Mills is too.

  26. Dr. Gowin’s exception to the rule:
The rule does not make any statement about whether any particular reference or comparison to Adolf Hitler or the Nazis might be appropriate. It is precisely because such a comparison or reference may sometimes be appropriate, Godwin has argued that overuse of Nazi and Hitler comparisons should be avoided, because it robs the valid comparisons of their impact.

I am comparing the CAIR video to Nazi propagandist film production. The comparison is highly accurate, valid and appropriate. Don’t you agree Vern?

    1. I’m sorry, dude, I’ve been trying to not say anything, because this is getting dumb, but that is the stupidest, craziest thing I’ve heard in a while.

You can actually look at a film of a mob yelling racist things at a peaceful minority … and then call the FILMMAKERS Nazi’s?

You are devolving into a figure of fun, like.. certain folks we won’t name.

  27. “You can actually look at a film of a mob yelling racist things at a peaceful minority … and then call the FILMMAKERS Nazi’s?”

YES, absolutely – considering that the CAIR filmmakers stole video footage of a separate peaceful rally and spliced it together with an obscene protest in order to portray the peaceful rally in a dishonest manner.

That is propaganda Vern – pure and simple.

    1. Let’s see if I’ve got this right. The politicians help whip up the boobs and rubes who then step over to the fundraiser later on and scream at women and little kids.

There’s no nexus? No responsibility? Instead there’s separation? Hell, that’s a blind, desperate grope.

Personally I have to say I don’t care much anyway since my regard for these repuglicans is already so low that they cease to even annoy me anymore.

      1. Joe Joe Joe… The wing nuts shouting to the nice Muslim women and children were NOT part of the rally that was supported by the politicians. Were you there? No. During and after the even their was a flurry of tweets, facebook comments, and emails between the initial ralliers regarding the wing nuts. We were all surprised that the PD didn’t push them back a little further.

Now go back to your kegurator and check the pressure.

  28. Sipowicz,

Sure there is responsibility and accountability. The fundraiser organizers should have called the police and had the protest shut down. I will bet you $100 that there was no permit for that protest. Hell the police dept. should have shut it down. There should be an investigation – something stinks here.

    1. Oh, that’s rich, you’re getting better and better. It’s the MUSLIMS’ FAULT for not calling the police! (Who were there by the way.) Just like it’s that bitch’s fault I hit her.

You think maybe these American Muslims ALSO believe in Freedom of Speech, even for these rancid haters? After all, many of them were born here.

(Punch line on the Daily Show last night when they showed part of this video: “Daddy, why do they want us to go home to Laguna Beach?”)

  29. The police were there? Okay now we are getting somewhere. Stop bitching and blaming and do a Public Information request – find out if the permit for the rally include the protest at the fundraiser. If it did (which I doubt) I will quit the Republican party.

If there was no permit for the obscene protest – find out who fucked up in the PD and why. As Sipowicz says – there should be responsibility and accountability – heads should roll.

  30. You’re just f-ng insane, Junior. Nobody’s saying the protest was ILLEGAL!!! And I have no idea if there was a permit or not. All we’re saying was the behavior of the protesters was REPREHENSIBLE! Can you get the difference?

Now I’m not coming back to this story any more. I hope the FFFF guys get the thing on RuTube before it disappears again.

  31. I am saying that the protest was probably illegal. What is insane about pointing that out?

The difference is that if the protest was illegal there is no way the organizers of the properly permitted rally would know about the illegal protest.

I have added skin to the game by offering to quit the Republican party if the the obscene protest was included in the permit for the properly permitted rally.

Additionally, if the obscene protest WAS illegal – what are the reasons that it was not shut down by the PD.

See Vern, completely rational and sane.

    1. “I have added skin to the game by offering to quit the Republican party if the the obscene protest was included in the permit for the properly permitted rally.”

      Wow! What a sacrifice!

  32. Vern – Of course you don’t care if they had a permit or not.

Because if the obscene protestors were determined to not have a permit then it would be problematical for you to hook the legislators who appeared at the properly permitted rally to the obscene protestors.

  33. Vern – We do have one point of agreement the obscene protesters at the fundraiser were indeed assholes.

I would add that the PD were assholes for not shutting the illegal protest down.

Come on Vern, take my bet – wouldn’t you like to see one less Republican?

  34. Okay, “junior” and “joe’s marbles.” Please tell me exactly when and where the polite rally was relative to the event.

    1. It’s really quite simple.

The nice rally was at the trailer with the podium. The bad one was next to the event. Didn’t you see the CAIR video??? They documented it well except that the two groups were separate groups with different agendas.

  35. I would not call the rally “polite.” No need to kiss anyone’s ass about these issues.

I would call the illegal protestors obscene and assholes.

  36. Grover Cleveland,

Wouldn’t you like to find out if the obscene protest at the fundraiser was not permitted through the City?

And if it was not properly permitted – why was it allowed to take place?

Or do you intend to keep your head firmly planted up your ass?

    1. Whoa, there, tough guy.

Who cares if they had a permit, or not. Talk about lamebrain asshattery – trying to divert attention from the point of the post. Which is that Big Ed Royce is a pathetic little demagogue.

  37. junior, people dont need a permit to speak. That moral high ground you believe yourself to be standing on is actually a pile of dog crap. Go fight Vern Nelson somewhere else.

  38. The YLPD could have had used this YL law to dispurse the obscene protestors:
12.16.090 – Obstruction of public ways prohibited.

Whenever two or more persons gather together in such a manner as to obstruct the free passage of any street, sidewalk, alley, public way or place used by members of the public to go from place to place, such person shall move on or disperse when ordered to do so by a police officer. No person shall refuse or fail to disperse or move on when directed to do so by a police officer.

  39. “and then the YLPD could have defended itself in a first amendment lawsuit.”

That is crap JD – the obscene protesters were blocking the sidewalk AND they were disturbing the peace.

The YLPD could have done something – SHOULD have done something to restore order.

Are the YLPDs donut shop PDs like in Fullerton?

    1. If they were blocking the sidewalk, the cops might have asked them to move aside. Noboby’s going to pepper spray and arrest them as you seem to think they should have done.

  40. JD,

No pepper spray, but they could have moved them along and told them to stop yelling and disturbing the peace. They sure as hell were disturbing the peace.

Cops have discretion – they should have used it – that would have been proper.

  41. Yes, I have seen the video. Funny.

But I don’t see any similarities between cops raiding the wrong house and cops letting people exercise the right to free speech on public property.

  42. JD,
The right to Free Speech does not include the right to block the sidewalk or disturb the peace. You don’t feel that the peace of the women and children was disturbed? It was poor police work at the least.

    1. Junior, Pakistan doesn’t have an anti-establishment clause in its Constitution like we do.

Of course, the greatest threat to THAT important limitation on government has always come from my fellow Christians seeking to legislate Old Testament morality on a free nation.

    1. junior, I watched the youtube clip that you wrote as: “hate did come to the OC”, and Malik Ali often mentions “zionist” as being a bad thing of some sort, excuse me for my ignorance, but what is a “zionist”?

  43. Zionism a Jewish political movement that has supported the self-determination of the Jewish people in a sovereign Jewish national homeland. Since the establishment of the State of Israel, the Zionist movement continues primarily to advocate on behalf of the Jewish state and address threats to its continued existence and security.

    Zion means “refuge.”

  44. The biggest problem at the event was that the YLPD did a poor job of policing the situation. Permits for a rally normally and properly specify a certain area in which the rally is to take place. Especially a counter-rally – this should have been anticipated as a possible volatile situation.

Either the police failed to specify that the rally was not to spill over to the community building – or the they failed to enforce the rally permit specifications.

The conduct of the small crowd of obscene protesters is inexcusable – I am not defending them. However, again the YLPD failed in keeping this crowd of obnoxious people from disturbing the peace of the fundraising event. No way should they have been allowed to block the sidewalk and street and disturb the peace. This is a major FAIL by the YLPD.
