Mayor Jones Phones It In

On Monday I went to Fullerton’s State of the City meeting, hoping to hear the mayor deliver one of his colorful oratories. Imagine how disappointed I was to discover that Jones had done a pre-recorded video instead.

Weeeeeell, by Golly!

Buzz Kill. Video removed at the request of Davis Barber, Davis Barber Productions.

  1. I love lat last line, uttered with the crazy gusto we’ve come to know and love.

    “Fullerton is open for business!”

By which he means “if you’re a dee-veloper or a bar owner master plan promoter, we’ll subsidize you.”

  2. I think everybody is finally realizing that Jones can’t be trusted out alone, even with a dopey script.

  3. How much did the taxpayers fork over for those nifty animations of the sidewalks being repaved and stucco fortresses being erected? (at 4:40).

  4. Awesome blue screen backgrounds! Look at all those crappy buildings they are actually bragging about. Where are the pictures of the cracking streets and buckling sidewalks?

How much that must have felt like the hate minute from 1984!

  5. I don’t blame him for wanting to keep that under wraps. That was just awful.

Of course he didn’t have much to work with.

  6. Poor guy had to spend an afternoon filming Dick Jones and then probably three days editing out the crazy.

    It didn’t work.

    1. If he edited out the crazy he must have recorded 10 hours of video for that six minute movie.

I wonder how many takes it took and whether Davis Barber will be marketing the outtakes.

  7. Yeah, sorry. I really do have a sense of humor. Really really. But I am a bit of a copyright freak. It’s not so much about FFFF or even the Fullertonian – they duped a lot of our work too. But licensing this stuff is how I earn a living and I gotta protect it.

    Maybe I should have been a teacher…

  8. Davis, how about releasing a couple of selected clips for press purposes? This would be a normal practice for any production, wouldn’t it?
