Being Dick Jones; Excessively Intellectually Unattractive

Friends, re-enjoy this Hee Haw blast from the past. Colonel Cornpone’s bloviations never cease to amuse.

– Joe Sipowicz

Dear Friends, we have reached way back into the dusty corners of our video archives and have retrieved this gem – an unedited rant by our own beloved eccentric on the Fullerton City Council, Mr. Dick Jones. Last fall some of Fullerton’s middle-brows got bent out of shape because we went to the trouble of patching together clips of Jones’ fulminations and actually elevated his crazy diatribe into high art. So here we present him in his own, unvarnished syntactical glory!

The project that Dick Jones is ranting about was a housing/re-use proposal for the old Kohlenberger/Morehouse building on Commonwealth. Housing and preservation, good goals, right?

See if you can slice though the chicken-fried blather coating this brainless bluster and find any substance.

Pea-brained, parochial, pitiful. Is this really the best Fullerton can do?

  1. Good God. If only the voters could see this clown in action. Re-elected three times?

12 years is enough? 12 muinutes of this loudmouth bully would do it for me.

  2. But re-elected three times. We’ll give the voters a pass on the first mistake. But three more?

The frightening thought is that maybe this is the best Fullerton can do.

  3. The Fullerton Harpoon :

The frightening thought is that maybe this is the best Fullerton can do.

Harpoon, that is a frightening thought, do you think it’s the same in other cities around Orange County, or is there something about Fullerton that causes this to happen?

  4. Says Dr. Jones:

“I’ve never denied a project in the ten years that I’ve been on the council.”

    and:

    “I never have denied anything…”

Wait a minute — is that something to brag about? That you’re a project whore?

  5. Yes, Peabody. You see Mr. Jones’ worldview is cemented firmly in the Nineteenth Century when unfettered growth was generally seen as a positive virture.

For further appreciaition I recommend Dylan’s “Ballad of A Thin Man”:

    Because something is happening here
But you don’t know what it is
    Do you, Mister Jones?

  6. The word on the street is that Dick Jones “blew a head gasket” at the OC Vector Control Board meeting last week. $100 bucks to the 1st person who emails me the audio file of the meeting dated 5-21-09. fullertonsfuture@yahoo.com

  7. Any word regarding the Vector Contor meeting audio? I can go there today to pick it up for the $100.

  8. What’s the deal with going after the mayor? It’s fine with me, but unless we are about to start recall proceedures than isn’t it a waste?

    1. Good point, Watcher!

More importantly is the use of such criticism to expose those politicians (Ed Royce) and entities (government “workers” unions) who have supported and paid for the three (Bankhead, Jones and McKinley) worst phony “conservative Republicans” who now sit on our City Council.

  9. Let’s go after Ed Royce. The guy continues to endorse these ageing know nothing morons who support big governorment and many other liberal policies. What makes me even more upset is the guy shows up at Tea Party events and claims to be a budget hawk. It’s retarded the guy is the problem. Someone needs to take these people to task about their undying support of Ed Royce. Ed even endorsed Bankhead after he was recalled. How can ge claim he is an honest politician?

  10. This man needs to be seen by a mental health professional. If a private appointment cannot be made, might I suggest a brief diagnosis given during public comments.
